This poem/song is based on the anime show and my namesake, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and two main characters, Shinji Ikari and Asuka Sohryuu Langley. The poem/song uses the theme to "Melodies of Life" from the game Final Fantasy IX, composed by Nobuo Uematsu, and can be sung/read from either Shinji's POV, Asuka's POV, or as a duet.

I've lost my will, can't continue this empty, lonely fight
So why bother picking up the pieces that remain?

I've searched, in my heart, for a reason I should stay
