Oracle and Mind-Diviner
I've had the last line knocking around in my head for a couple of years now…but I forgot the structure of a sonnet. *sheepish* But since we've recently plunged into a crash course on sonnets [my promotional exams are next week, and our poetry teacher decided that she had to set a sonnet for our unseen poem…], I've finally managed to scribble a thingie out, quatrain, octet, volta, couplet and all [in poetry tutorial]. ^_^;; [Yes, the third stanza is a little…explicit. *hides*] Just a little Schuldich x Crawford…thingie. [And, ja, it's supposed to follow a 10-syllable iambic pentameter. I counted each line.] In the Shakespearean format…[right down to the cheesy title.]

Oracle and Mind-diviner

By Djinn

Of marble carved, the oracle, so cold

But i'covert, the mind-diviner fear

He who stirr'st a hidden heart untold

Who blaze'st his frost with burn when he doth near

He thrusts beneath the glass, the still-froze'd face

With fire that meets the ice, but ice is fire

And hell and winter burning interlace

Till cold is heat, and heat and cold desire

And lonely one, impaled upon the flame

Lost his command, mad'st not to think, nor say

Nor utter any gasp save fire's name

Till, seared and terrified, push'd him away

But still when night has fall'n, 'neath shadows deep

The oracle, with mind-diviner sleeps.

Actually, this was done a couple of days before 'Hakanaki Hibi To…', but it's a welcome relief to post about now. -_-;; What with my promos and Hakanaki and Shoyo losing and f****** spoiled b******* that are intent upon making me burst an artery, I'm just about ready to slit my wrists. . I'm not really satisfied with the poem, but it could have been worse, and I'm thankful that I managed to get anything done at all. I do apologise…Thank you for bearing with me!
