This is me adding my grain of sand in the many theories about the mystery of Rey. The "Anakin Skywalker reborn" theory has been getting a lot of attention. While I love the complexity of the Skywalker patriarch, I don't think this'd be a good idea for the new trilogy. However, reincarnation is fascinating stuff so I'm all for it so long as it's done right, hence my spin on this.

Set during 'The Rise of Skywalker' and starting after their escape from the Steadfast, Finn and Poe work through some unresolved issues from their final mission to defeat the First Order.

Shmi Skywalker had always been a dutiful and obedient Jedi Knight who, for the most part, never dared oppose the will of the Council. All this changes, however, when she is chosen for a mission to investigate a powerful disturbance in the Force on the desert planet of Jakku. What she encounters there will flip her life upside down and force her to make an impossible choice.

I got the idea for this from this beautiful fan art in a Tweet, which also asked the question: what if Ben appeared to Rey for a single day/night each year, and at one visit, he returned to find her with a child?
