Broken Barrier

He died without fear... what does that make of me?

Broken Barrier

Damn you, Kakarotto... damn you!

Vegeta stared at the horizon. What would he do now? He was gone... all that he had been waiting for had vanished in... nothing. Kakarot had surpased him any area known to date. It was enough to make a person feel as useless as hell.

You... you broke the barrier, Kakarot.

Yeah, probably ever since we met. You lived to protect others. You had a cause, and I hated you for it. You defeated me then, you defeated me now. And I'll never have a chance to prove myself against you! But... what do I have to prove? After giving up your life to save others...

Vegeta frowned. So many things... so many thoughts...

He remembered how he would always take things so lightly. How a man with extraordinary powers and strength had intense fear of needles. He remembered their first battle, and how Goku told him having a family was all he needed. How very true. Now, that he's gone... now, when there's no one to laugh heartfully and give the scum of the Earth another chance to rearrange his life, NOW, is when he sinks in the truth.

There's one thing, though. Why do I feel this... this... trust in him?! This was confusing. He couldn't help but feel this intense admiration for him. But why?! I hate him!

Or did he?

Tell me, Kakarot... that expression you had in your face... what was it you wanted to tell me?

No one's ever made me feel agony like that. That made me even hate you more!

But that light that shone in your eyes... it gave me the chills. I'd never seen that look on anyone before. You weren't afraid of anything. Unstoppable. You knew where you were going, weren't you? In fact... I could've sworn...

It felt like you even... came from there?

A long pause from his thoughts took over Vegeta. He looked at the sky.

You knew, didn't you? That's why you let me go the first time we fought. That's why you smiled everytime I threatened to blow up something. That's why...

For the first time, Vegeta smiled. A strange sense of powerlessness came over him. He knew that even though he wanted him to be here, he couldn't. He had to go, and keep on fighting, not just for the thrill of doing it, but... for Kakarotto's cause...

Something he would have never done if he hadn't "met" this low class saiyan.

I was wrong. You broke the barrier.

Thank You.
