"Martouf, can I ask you something," Jacob Carter asked his new friend. After leaving Earth, the Tok'Ra had had to move from the planet they had last escaped to, leaving behind his life, his daughter. Sam. That brought him back to why he wanted to speak to Martouf. Now that things had settled down, there was the time for questions.

"Of course, Jacob. Of what do you wish to know?"

"Well, Sam said something strange before Selmak and I blended. Something about her knowing about what I'd be going through. I asked Selmak if she knew what Sam meant and she told me to ask you." When Martouf didn't respond, he prompted, "Well?"

"Samantha was once a host."

"What?!"

"My mate, Roscha, had a symbiote named Jolinar. Roscha...died and Jolinar took a new host." He paused before speaking again. "It is my understanding that another host of Jolinar died while being chased by the Ashrak. Jolinar took yet another host." He looked at Jacob. "That host was Samantha."

"My God." //Oh, Sammy, why didn't you tell me.// He was so caught up in his thoughts that he didn't notice Martouf walking away.

Jacob? Are you all right Selmak asked.

Huh? Yeah, sure, Selmak. I'm fine; just kind of shocked.

Yes, I suppose it is rather shocking. I am sorry I did not explain it to you myself.

It's okay.

I should not have had Martouf explain. He is having a difficult enough time coping with Jolinar's death.

So how long were they together?

Over 100 of your years.

That's a long time.

Yes, it is.

Jacob stood, thinking of all the...unexpected revelations he had come across in the past few days.

"My God."

~The End~
