Closing the Windows
An Original Fanfic by Diara

Author's Note: This is my first HDM fic, let alone my first ever. So, please, review. I do accept flames, winter is coming and I could use the heat. Anyway, this story takes place right after Midsummer's Day, one year after the end of TAS.

#Chapter 1#
-=Lyra=-
I went to the garden two hours earlier, to sit there and remember what had happened a year ago...
Flashback
"-If we could come here at the same time just for an hour or something, then we could pretend we were close again-because we would be close if you sat here and I sat here in my world-"
"Yes," he said, "as long as I live, I'll come back. Wherever I am in the world, I'll come back here-"
"On Midsummer's Day. At midday. As long as I live..."
"Well,"
"Lyra-"
"Will-"
End Flashback
I could still remember the last kiss. A hot tear slipped down my cheek. And then- I felt something brush my check. And then, the sky above me ripped with a slight noise, and out stepped my beloved Will Perry.
"Will? What are you doing here?" I asked, astonished and amazed, "You said you'd never cut another window open again!"
"I had to, Lyra, I wanted to see you so badly," he said, and I wrapped my arms around him.
"I didn't believe it, when the altheometer told me last month, but it is never wrong-"
"What? You can use it again?" he cried in astonishment.
"Yes and no," I replied, "I can only work out small things. The larger ones just baffle me."
"Well," Will said, acting like his old self again. "I guess this is the last time we'll see each other again... He leaned over and kissed me again. I couldn't stop; I never wanted him to leave me again. No!
"Good-bye, Will," I said finally.
"Good-bye Lyra. I love you,"
"I love you too, Will," I said as he vanished into the air again, the rip closing behind him. I sat for a long time, until nightfall, crying silent tears.
