Chapter 3
That Night
Relena had lit all the garden's candles. The sun had already set. She sat down under the same tree she had been sitting under earlier.
(You sort of expect this but oh well . . .)
As before, a white rose fell down. However, a piece of paper came down directly after. Relena again gasped. She picked up the paper and stood up. It was her poem! Relena began to read it aloud.
"You are my heart . . ."
A voice came from behind her. "You are my soul."
Relena took a sharp intake of breath and stiffened.
"No, it couldn't be! It was -"
Heero reached for Relena's hand, pulling her to face him. She slipped her other hand into his, dropping the poem. Heero smiled and gently said, "You are my soul."
Relena gazed up at him. "I hold you here" "And I'll never let go." Heero ended for her. Relena smirked at him (she doesn't smirk! Why did I write that?). She wrapped her arms around his neck. Heero held her close. Relena said, "Your gentle touch-" "Warms my soul."
Relena did a double take when she realized what the next line was. Her eyes filled with tears and she took a step back. Relena looked at Heero. His eyes were filled with concern. She hung her head. "I need you here."
Heero smiled and lifted Relena's chin with one of his hands. She was confused. Heero paused before saying,
"I'll never go!"
And with that, Heero captured Relena's lips with his own.
