Chapter: unbelievable truth

It was the second part of the chunin exams and Team seven were making their way through the Forest of Death.

Team seven was one of the teams that were able to pass the first part of the exams but not without difficulty.

Sakura Haruno, the female of the team, with long pink hair, wearing a red quo-pa dress and black biker shorts, was able to pass the written exam with her own knowledge. In terms of combat skills, she is lacking but what she does have are excellent chakra control and book smarts. It was thanks to this that she was able to answer the questions.

Sasuke Uchiha, one of the last survivors of the Uchiha clan, and the most skilled of the team. Being part of the Uchiha clan he had access to the famed Sharingan and as such, he was able to use it to mimic the movements of another participant. Having access to the Uchiha clan scrolls gave him an advantage over the rest of his classmates with him having several fire jutsu and notes on the other clans' tactics and what to look out for. But he never bragged about it as he wanted to be a good role model to someone very important to him.

His baby sister, Satsuki

Satsuki was barely a few months old when the massacre happened and as such would not remember anything about it. Nor does she know about her parents or that she even had a second brother.

The day the massacre happened and Sasuke saw Itachi standing over the bodies of their parents, the first thing he did was run away from the man into his sister's room to his great relief a sleeping baby. He took her from the crib and ran as fast as he could away from the site. He didn't look back as he was too scared to see if Itachi was closing in. All he cared about was getting his sister out of the compound and somewhere safe.

Ever since then he has done his best to take care of his sister in place of their late parents. She is now five and looks up to her brother and everything he does.

That's why Sasuke is doing his best not to set a bad example. Though he still wondered where he went wrong since his sister had become close to the last member of the team

The last member of the team was Naruto Uzumaki. The heavy hitter of the team and usually the last one standing in spars. Not necessarily because of fantastic skill but from his abundant amount of stamina, chakra, and determination. He was a little above average in taijutsu but he had the drive to push himself to get better, and never back down from a fight. One thing he was good at was traps and being unpredictable. It was thanks to this skill that he was able to pass the written exam. With a little luck, the guy to his right in the exam was caught cheating, so when the kunai struck the desk, he overreacted and jumped out of his seat. In the split second he was out of his seat, he threw a tiny pellet to the column of seats next to his own, closer to the chunin watchers. When he sat back down, he waited a few more minutes till he activated it and caused a large plum of smoke to take up half the room. With that, he quickly swapped his paper with Sakura's. He left a note on it saying "thanks a lot, Sakura" with a chibi drawing of himself with the peace sign.

Safe to say, Sakura was pissed at him for doing it but in hindsight, it was the best option. Naruto wasn't the dumbest in the class but there was no way he could answer any of the questions.

Naruto was wearing a black sleeveless skin-tight turtle neck shirt that had two orange stripes going from his shoulders to the bottom of the shirt which was tucked in his dark gray anbu-style pants. Around his waist was a burnt orange sash with the not and tassel hanging on his left hip. For footwear, he was wearing black anbu boots with steel plating on the shin. Around his forehead was his black-clothed hitai-ai.

Satsuki had grown fond of Naruo since Naruto was cheerful and at times childish. Naruto was also fond of the young girl and would do his best to put a smile on her face when they met.

This was one of the reasons Sasuke had an issue with Naruto as he didn't want his sister to pick up any bad habits from the blonde. He even told Naruto he would kill the blonde if Satsuki gained any of them. But apart from that, the two males were friends, just not the closest.

Right now, the three were taking a break on a large branch of one of the massive trees that take up the forest. It was the second day of their five-day limit in the forest and they have yet to come across a team that has the scroll they needed. They had three spare heaven scrolls that they got from some other village teams that weren't much, to begin with.

"AAAAAAAaHHHHHHH!"

Naruto turned his head in the direction of the scream. "Sounds like someone ran into another team or one of the animals that live in this forest. Maye they got eaten alive."

Sakura shivered at the thought. "Naruto, don't say things like that. The animals in this forest are big enough to eat all three of us whole. I don't want to know what it's like to be a midnight snack."

Naruto tilted his head as he asked. "It's midnight already?" *bonk* "ow!" Naruto held his head from the rock Sakura threw at it.

"Idiot, it's just a figure of speech."

Sasuke sighed as he laid on the trunk with his hands behind his head. "Naruto, stop being an idiot."

Naruto grumbled as he crossed his arms. "I can't help it, we've seen nothing but trees, trees, and more trees. Not only that, but we got three extra scrolls that we don't need. We could have already been on our way to the tower if at least one of the teams had the Earth scroll."

Sakura huffed as she spoke next. "Naruto, it's just a matter of luck. It's not like the scroll is going to fall from the sky and land on our lap."

Naruto, in response, looked up and held out a hand.

Sakura deadpanned at the blonde. "Really, Naruto?"

"What?! You never know." he shrugged and laid on the branch to get some rest.

Sakura sighed as she shook her head.

Sasuke turned his head to look at the blonde and asked. "Are you sure that girl will be able to take care of Satsuki?"

"Oh come on, Sasuke! I told you already that Ayame is perfectly capable of taking care of your little sister."

"Yeah, but I worry that she will just give Satsuki Ramen for her meals."

Naruto groaned before deadpanning at Sasuke. "Damn it, Sasuke, I told you that she cooks Ramen as a job. She can cook other things apart from Ramen!"

Sasuke smirked at him. "I know, but pissing you off is a good way to pass the time."

Naruto grumbled before looking back to the leaves of the trees above them.

This was how the three spent their break for the next fifteen minutes till….

The three of them jumped to their feet with Sasuke and Naruto pulling out kunai, while Sakura looked around for the source of the oppressive feeling they got.

Each of them was on edge as the feeling felt like gravity had increased. Even shifting their weight felt strained.

Sasuke gulped as his eyes shifted left and right. "Either of you see anything?"

Naruto had a bead of sweat going down his face. "I wish. At least then we would know what we're dealing with."

They each tried to listen for any sign of what was causing this but it was like the whole forest became dead silent and that made the forest seem even darker than it used to be.

"Guys, maybe we should just leave." Sakura felt her breath become shorter as she couldn't handle the pressure and took a step back

Naruto did the same. "I agree with her! We should get out of here."

Sasuke grunted as he licked his lips in nervousness. "But we don't know where this feeling is coming from. We could head in one direction and run straight into it. He joined the other two as they were all now back to back.

"Fufufu, well thought out, Sasuke. It would be unwise to run off randomly when you don't know where the enemy is."

The three genin looked up towards the branch of another tree to see a figure coming out of the shadows. Once they got a clear view, they recognized the woman as one of the grass ninjas.

"However, I doubt you would be able to get away."

Naruto narrowed his eyes at the grass-nin as he brought up his kunai closer to him. Something about her seemed….off.

Sasuke's eyes shifted to the side of the woman. "Careful, you two, her team could pop out any second now."

"Fufufu, you needn't worry about that, Sasuke. I am the only one you have to deal with."

The three genin didn't believe the woman as it could be seen as a lie. But Sasuke and Naruto couldn't help but think that it seemed too obvious a lie to not be true. But they wouldn't take chances.

Since Naruto was in between his team, he fiddled his fingers on his kunai. Shifting his index and middle finger on the handle of his kunai.

Sasuke and sakura saw this and figured they had no choice but to go with it since they knew they were in for a fight.

Sakura shifted her hands to be out of sight, with Sasuke shifting his kunai from his right hand to his left.

As the genin did this, the grass-nin eyed the team with interest. She was not sure what they were planning on doing but she figured it would be interesting to see what they have planned. Her eyes focused on Sasuke for a second before shifting to the second male. 'Well, well, it couldn't possibly be. But if with what Kabuto was able to send back, I must confirm this myself.

Naruto spoke up after the silence went on for too long. "What do you want from us?!"

"Fufufu, I originally had plans on handling your team but something else has caught my eye. And I simply must confirm it." she let out a long tongue that licked her lips.

Naruto felt his nerves almost give way to fear but he chose to go another way. "Sakura!"

At that call, the other two split from Naruto with Sasuke going toward the right with Sakura going to the left.

Sakura tossed a kunai toward Naruto as he ran forward.

Naruto spun around, with his hand grabbing the kunai tossed toward him. Once his spin was complete, he threw the kunai at the grass-nin.

The grass-nin merely tilted her head to let the kunai pass by. She heard the kunai impact on the tree behind her but when she did, she saw a wire attached to it. Her eyes followed the wire to show Naruto holding it tight in his grip. She was impressed to see Sasuke land on the wire and make his way toward her.

Sasuke jumped off the wire before he went through hand signs. "Fire style: fireball jutsu!" He watched as his fireball hit dead on the grass-nin. While in the air, another kunai passed under him and he landed on another wire before he ran down toward Sakura who held onto the second wire.

Once Sasuke landed next to his team, Naruto spoke. "Let's go! We need to get out of here!"

Sakura looked at Naruto with a bit of confusion. "Why? We took care of her."

Naruto shook his head as he took a few steps in the opposite direction. "I don't know why but I get the feeling we do not want to be around her. Even if the fireball hit."

Sasuke nodded. "I'm with the Dobe. let's go!"

The three jumped away as the fire burned on the branch, only for the fire to dissipate as the woman smirked in the direction they left. "Interesting strategy. Wonder who came up with it." half of the woman's face had melted off to reveal pale white skin and sharp yellow eyes. "Time to have a bit more fun with them."

The three were going as fast as they could through the trees, not looking back.

Sakura asked the other. "Where are we going?"

Naruto didn't stop or look back as he responded. "Anywhere but near her! You felt that aura she had! There is no way we can handle someone who can make us all sweat just by being nearby!"

Sasuke nodded. "I hate to say it, but we're no match for her."

"Oh? And I thought we were having such a lovely time together."

The team immediately stopped at the sound of the voice only to scream when one of the trees adjacent to the one they were on, exploded, and a massive brown snake came at them with its mouth open wide.

Naruto was stunned by the sight as he mumbled. "That ain't Anko's."

Sasuke though was still in the moment. "MOVE!"

The three scattered from the bite point of the snake with the branch shattering. The serpent began to chase Sakura as she began to run up the trunk to get away.

Naruto landed on another branch and yelled out. "Sakura!"

Sasuke ran past him as he spoke over his shoulder. "Move, Dobe, we gotta get her out of there!"

Naruto was quick to follow as they ran after the snake. The two of them jumped on the trunk behind the snake and ran up to try and catch up. Unfortunately, they had forgotten about the nin.

Sasuke suddenly found a long appendage around his neck and he was yanked off the tree.

Naruto looked over his shoulder at the sight. "Sasuke!" Naruto would have done something for either of his teammates, but he was suddenly kicked in the side by the nin. He was sent flying till he came to an immediate stop as his back slammed on another tree. He fell down and crashed into a branch. He lifted his head to see the nin walking toward him. He slowly pushed himself up and glared at the woman. But he froze as he saw that half of the woman's face seemed to be melted off to reveal another's face.

"Well, well, I see that the information was accurate. But there are still factors to address."

Naruto couldn't help but find himself frozen in place as the oppressive aura from before came back. Not only that but his mind was trying to register that the voice he heard before and the voice coming out now was different. It sounded more….sinister with a hint of curiosity. And the voice almost sounded more mature, like a completely different woman. "Who the hell are you?!"

The smile on the woman's face, which still had the darker skin on it, grew wide and seemed wrong. "My my, it's quite rude to ask a lady her name before giving your own."

"Well, it's more rude to come out of nowhere and attack us for no reason!" He wanted to kick himself for being brash at the moment since every one of his instincts was telling him to run.

"Fufufu, cheeky, aren't you? I originally came here for another prize but you have caught my curiosity. I want to see how you fair and if you impress me, I might inform you of who I am."

Naruto wondered what this woman wanted but he was at the moment in survival mode. He reached into his weapons pouch before throwing some smoke bombs on the branch.

The woman smirked at the sight and watched as two Narutos came out of the smoke and charged at her with Kunai in their hands. She caught the wrist of the first one before slamming him into the other. Both disappeared in a puff of smoke. She saw that the kunai did not and spun in the air next to her head.

*poof*

The kunai transformed into Naruto who brought his leg up into a kick to her head.

The woman swerved under the kick and watched as he used the momentum of his leg to swirl his fist at her. She brought her palm up and blocked it before he landed on the ground and began to attack her with a flurry of punches and kicks. Each of them was blocked by the same palm. 'Interesting tactic.'

Naruto was growing frustrated at the fact that she was taking him lightly. His taijutsu wasn't the best but he was sure that he could land a hit if he kept going. But she was swatting away his attacks like they were nothing. 'She ain't no genin!' choosing to up things, he reached into his weapons pouch and pulled out two kunai. Leaping back he sent them flying at the woman.

Said woman merely turned her body to let the fly harmlessly at her side since they seemed to be aimed at her stomach. It was then she saw the additions. Each of them had a wire on them, she followed the wire to Naruto and was interested in what he did next.

Naruto waited for a second before the kunai struck the trunk of the tree. Having the two wires in each hand, his leap was suddenly halted before he pulled the wire hard and sent himself flying at her. He brought his legs up and slammed them both into her guard. He felt some satisfaction when he saw her be sent skidding back. Though he wished that she was sent flying instead

She had brought up her arms to block the double kick and was impressed about using the kunai and ninja wire in such a way. She lowered her arms and let her tongue slide out before it licked her lips. "Most impressive. I had not thought of using kunai in such a way before but I can see that your genetics are well at play."

Naruto yanked on the wire to dislodge them from the tree. "'Genetics'?" choosing to ignore that, he flicked his arms up to get the kunai to fly up and caught them in his hand. "I don't know what the hell you're talking about, but I don't have time for it." He was bluffing. He wanted to make it seem he could leave when he wanted but he was really just hoping for an opening to use to get to his team and get out.

The woman chuckled again. "Well, I believe you'll have time for me!" she lifted up her sleeve before biting her thumb and smearing it on a tattoo she had. "Summoning Jutsu!"

Naruto felt dread at the sight of another snake appearing out of nowhere. "Crap! Another one." his mind went back to his team. He hoped Sakura had gotten away from the first snake but he wondered where Sasuke was. He didn't have time to think about it long since he had to jump away as the snake began to chase him with the woman standing on its head. He had to push his speed as much as he could since the snake was moving faster than he would have liked. While in the middle of another jump, the snake swung its tail at the branch he was planning on landing on, causing it to shatter. "Crap!" now in free fall, he looked up to see the snake follow him with its mouth open. Grimacing at the idea of being a meal, he threw the kunai still in his hand to his left and once it attached to another branch, he used the wire to swing out of the way of the large mouth. He planted his feet onto the trunk of a tree before running up to avoid another bite from the snake.

It was then the woman jumped off the snake's head and chased the boy, almost leisurely.

Naruto looked over his shoulder to see her chasing him. Seeing her catch up, he spun around and swung the other kunai he had at her. Seeing her duck under it. He flicked his wrist, causing the wire to loop around her neck. Smiling at the success, he lowered himself before jamming the kunai into the trunk. Seeing a fist coming at him he shifted his body and made sure the other wire he still had in his other hand looped around the arm. He then released the wire before backing away. He smirked when she tried to go after him but was snagged by the wire. "You seem to be tied up at the moment so I'll see you later!" he quickly spun around to make his escape, but after a few steps, he was slammed in the stomach by the tail of the snake. 'Shit! I forgot about the snake!' he didn't fly far as he was grabbed by the top of his head and hung in front of the woman.

"I must say, I am impressed by the way you handled yourself." she reached out with her other hand but stopped when the wire halted its movement. With a frown, she tugged on the wire, causing it to snap, but not without it tearing a good amount of skin off the arm.

Naruto couldn't help but cringe at the sight of the flesh being torn off, only to reveal a different arm underneath. One thing he noted was that the arm underneath seemed…. Shaped differently. But not by much.

The woman saw where his eyes were and chucked. "I suppose keeping up the facade after losing so much of this flesh is pointless." she reached up to her face with her free hand and began to tear off the flesh.

Naruto gagged at the sound but then realized he had to get away. He brought his hands up to grab the hand holding him up but suddenly found them tied up in her tongue with her hand letting go of his head

"Ah ah ah, Naruto, it's rude to interrupt." seeing him struggle, she continued to remove her disguise. "I must tell you, it is very refreshing to discard this husk. Much too small for my taste."

Naruto saw her grip the shirt before ripping it off, to reveal not only a different set of clothing but a larger chest. He felt sick as the remaining flesh was removed from the woman inside. "Who the hell are you?!" He continued to thrash in her grip but still couldn't get his arms free.

"Fu fu fu, I am Orochi, one of the three legendary Sanin. I came here to achieve an invaluable prize with you being an interesting bonus." she reached up and grabbed him by the chin with one hand before turning his head left and right. "Hmm, intriguing. Healthy tone, physical structure seems lacking but much better than I would have assumed." She used her other hand to catch the foot he tried to use to kick her. "Decent strength for a genin, yet I expected more." she looked into his glaring eyes as she wondered. "There should be more to you with what I know."

"Grr, what the hell are you talking about?! Let go of me!"

"Fu fu fu, should you really be speaking to me in such a way? Raised so poorly."

Naruto flailed even more but got no leeway. "Screw you! I wasn't raised by anyone!"

This seemed to make her chuckle even more. "Now that I can understand. Tell me, what do you know about yourself anyway?"

Naruto growled as he tried to free his hands. "I'm just a kid that lived in an orphanage before the old man gave me an apartment! And I've been told my parents died a long time ago!" he wasn't sure why he was telling her this but he figured it was a good way to get her to try and lower her guard.

"Fu fu fu fu fu fu, you 'parents'?"

Naruto paused at the way she said that. "What? You know them?!" this was something he had been trying to figure out for so long but he hadn't gotten anywhere.

"Oh, dear me, I can tell you I know a lot more than you think."

~meanwhile~

Hiruzen Sarutobi was going through some papers that had to do with the chunin exams and the dignitaries that would be coming. "With how many passed the first round, we might need to postpone their arrival by a month to allow all of them to be present during the finals." he let out a heavy sigh. "They aren't going to be happy about this but it can't be helped. As long as nothing else happens, we should have relatively peaceful Chunin exams."

Suddenly, an anbu appeared in the middle of the room with a sense of urgency. "Sir!"

Hiruzen felt that he should have kept his mouth shut, but right now was not the time for jokes. "What is it." was his serious response.

The Anbu bowed his head before speaking. "About ten minutes ago, we located three bodies laying near the gates of the forest of death."

Hiruzen wondered what was the issue since dead bodies in the forest of death shouldn't be that big of a thing, especially since they all signed waivers that absolved Konoha of any wrongdoing while they were in said forest. "And?"

"The bodies were found outside of the forest. Not only that but one of them had no skin to it. It was just muscles and blood."

Hiruzen felt his blood run cold as his mind came up with a potential perp. 'but….how ….'

"Not only that but Proctor Anko Mitarashi seemed to know who it was and ran into the forest immediately."

Now Hiruzen was internally panicking. In a stern voice, he commanded. "Gather all of the available anbu you can find and you are to enter the forest of death and find Team 7 immediately!"

Without hesitation, the Anbu nodded and left the room.

Hiruzen then did the same as he made his way out of the building and toward the forest. "Pleas let me not be too late!"

Naruto was gritting his teeth as his anger rose. "You know my parents?! Tell me!"

This seemed to amuse her even more as she chuckled darkly. It was then that she noticed the shifting of his eye color. After seeing them turn red, she hummed in thought. "So, that is what is going on." focusing on the boy, she noticed a glow on his stomach before lifting his shirt to see a sealing array appear. "There it is." she looked back up at the boy and smirked. "Would you like to know what I know? Something that has a great deal to do with you?"

Naruto's teeth became fangs and his nails became claws. "Tell me! TELL ME WHO MY PARENTS ARE!"

Despite the oppressive aura, she chuckled once more. "I suppose that is one way to ask but I'm afraid I cannot inform you about that." seeing him continue to growl, she continued. "For you see, you and I have a complicated past. But I suppose I can start by telling you that you don't have parents."

Naruto began thrashing his legs to try and kick her, but her tongue elongated and tied them together.

"For you see, I know you more than anyone else in the village."

"What the hell are you talking about!? How the hell would you know anything about me if we never met before!?"

She brought him in closer till their noses were inches away. One looking on with hatred with the other looking on in amusement. "I know you because, my dear Naruto, I am your creator."

Naruto's glare dropped as he looked at her in bewilderment.

"And you are merely one of the experiments I made. That is why you don't have any parents since I grew you in a vat of chemicals meant to keep you alive. And it seems that Sarutobi has found a use for you. Though, it does explain how you are still existing. But to not tell you….. Seems rather cruel, don't you think? Fu fu fu"

Naruto felt his mind shut down as he heard what she said. It sounded absolutely stupid and there was no way what she was saying was true. But the way she said it almost made it impossible to detect any lies.

She looked back down at his stomach and brought her hand up. The fingers themselves lit up in purple fire with a kanji for "release" appearing in the center of her palm. "Allow me to show you." she slammed her palm onto the seal array and with him still kept in place, he gave a silent scream of pain. She smirked as a portion of the seal faded away before what she assumed to be the seal used to keep the Kyuubi within. 'It seems the Kyuubi has been one of the factors that kept you alive. But I would need to analyze you in order to know if that is true. Though, I will have to hold off on that since I still need Sasuke to continue in the exams. That little girl should still be alive since I didn't tell my summon not to kill her. And my clone should very well have given my give to our dear Sasuke." she heard Naruto coughing and shuddering in her grasp. She dropped him onto the ground before walking away. "Stay alive a bit longer, Experiment 57. I still wish to analyze your body in order to know how much you were able to activate. As well as see if any programing I had installed still lingers." she reached into her pouch and pulled out the Earth scroll. She placed it on the ground. "Let this be a gift from the creator to the experiment." she then began to sink into the trunk. "And to think, Sarutobi would use you in such a way."

Naruto laid on his side as he had his eyes wide open and drool coming out of his mouth. His mind couldn't register what was told him. He shouldn't believe it. It was impossible. But something in him was saying that he should believe what she said. And then there was what she said as she left. '...did …Ji…. The Hokage know? Did he do something to me as well?' He didn't know what to make of it. 'experiment ….57? …what…?'

It was then that a panting Sakure landed next to him and looked down at him. "Naruto!" she turned him over only to see a blank stare in his eyes. And it bothered her since she could tell he was alive…..but there was something wrong with him. "Snap out of it, Naruto!" but he didn't stir. "We have to find, Sasuke!" she saw the blonde stay there before she picked him up and began to move. It was then she saw the scroll and wondered what happened that Naruto was able to get the scroll.

Not sure where this would go but the idea came to me a while back and felt like putting it into words.

I wanted to mix things up a bit so I decided to give Sasuke a younger sister instead of a twin like other sibling Uchiha fics.

Making Orochimaru a woman was just a whim. No idea what to do with it. And I could very well change it to male again. I could make it a gag but it wouldn't work with the tone

Already have an explanation for Naruto but it will be explained in a later chapter.

and I have some ideas for what Naruto could get but don't want to stuff everything
