Summary: When Rhonda has an hard day, she imagines thanks to an helpful spirit, what her life could have been without her. Notes: (Of Note on this episode : I appreciated the episode in which Helga saw how the world would be like if she was gone, but it was about Helga and i always disliked the character. I personnally read a story one time, it was about Helga's Wonderful Life. Then, i decided to make Arnold the main character but it would have been to obvious and i finally, i made Rhonda the main character). Work Text:

(The scene opens with a depressed Rhonda who is writing at her desk. Rhonda wears a pajama as her bare feet touch the floor.)

RHONDA

— OK, this was an awful, very awful day. First, i had this argument with my mom. She apparently does not seem to realize that i grow up. Then, at high school, i felt i was like a third wheel. And with Arnold... (she stops a few seconds and then begins to write again). With Arnold, we had our first argument as well. Now, i know i'm not a spoiled brat, since i found by myself a regular job as a waiter but sometimes, i wish i was not born. That's my wish (she closes her journal, and goes to bed).

(The scene shifts to a sleeping Rhonda, when she hears a voice, feminine).

RHONDA

— Who... Who's there ?

RUTH

— It's me, Rhonda, Ruth McDougal. (As Rhonda does not have any aknowledge of her, she introduces herself).

I was Arnold's crush when he was younger. Now, it seems he moved on, but i'm here as a spiritual to invite you to see a life without you.

RHONDA

— Well, i'm sure it would be good.

RUTH

— Maybe. Maybe not. (As she finishes her sentence, she takes Rhonda's arm and she shows her a strange world. Rhonda sees at first no difference).

RUTH

— Remember, we are both invisible and nobody can hear or see us. (She invites Rhonda to see.)
First, here is your manor. (Rhonda sees her parents, Brooke and Shannon. (On note of this episode, i forgot Buckley was Rhonda's dad. So, i renamed him Brooke and her mother Shannon.)) Rhonda notices the manor is full of people.

BROOKE

— What a nice party !

SHANNON

— Yup. Since we all are childless couple, we can party and discuss all night.

(They all cheer. Rhonda is sad.)

RHONDA

— See, my parents are better without me.

RUTH

— Be patient.

(The scene shifts then to Nadine and Arnold being a couple.)

NADINE

— Arnold, i'm so happy i have you in my life.

ARNOLD

— So, i'm i, Nadine, so i'm i.

RHONDA

— Seriously ? (irritated) Nadine, my best friend, the one who i'm the closest to call a sister, and she behaves like a rat, with my boyfriend ? Is it the lesson you're trying to give me ?

RUTH

— Actually, no, Rhonda.

RHONDA

— I'm confused.

RUTH

— Well, Rhonda, that's a glimpse of what the life could have been without you, but that's not REAL no Rhonda's life. Let me show you how people would be REALLY if you were not born.

(The scene shifts to Rhonda's manor where her parents are sitting at the table. They eat, sadly.)

See, Rhonda, all they have in their life, is their business. They have no heir, no child , only their job. Once they will reach out retirement age, they won't be able to be happy anymore.

(Rhonda looks touched. Then, we see Nadine but she is very bad dressed.)

RHONDA

— Wait, what happened to Nadine ?

RUTH

— It seems that your and Nadine's friendship was purely sincere. Nadine brought you simplicity and she also brought you humility and thanks to her, you liked a bit bugs, right ? (Rhonda nods) and on the other side, you taught her how to be a bit popular thanks to fashion clothes. But see, you were not born and Nadine never found a friend like you.

RHONDA

— At least, she still likes bugs.

RUTH

— Yeah, and that's the only thing she likes, she has no friends, apparently. See, Rhonda, your absence would be largely missed.

RHONDA

— Even by Arnold ?

RUTH

— ESPECIALLY by him.

RHONDA

— What do you mean ?

(Ruth takes Rhonda and she sees Arnold who is more like an arrogant jerk and giggles with a bunch of friends she does not know).

RHONDA

— Wow, i'm speechless, how can it be possible ?

RUTH

— Well, after Arnold was in high school, he with Sid and Lila, was one of few former PS 118 student of his class. But then, Sid and Lila began a romance and Arnold was left alone. Of course, he had his other classmates like Gerald and Sid, but even them left him and now, he befriended those jerks. See, Rhonda, everyone would be miserable without you.

(Rhonda wakes-up).

RHONDA

— Gosh, it was a nightmare.

(The scene shifts into the following day, as Rhonda prepares her parents's breakfast. As she opens her door, Arnold arrives with a large bouquet of roses).

RHONDA

— Wow, Arnold, i'm touched, it's so sweet.

(They kiss)

ARNOLD

— Actually, i wanted to apologize about earlier, i...

RHONDA

— Both of us were wrong. Now, let me tell you about a curious dream (as she invites him to come in, the door closes. The Screen turns black).
