(We open in Mr Green's shop. As he prepares it, a man approaches him, gently).
GREEN
— Hey, sir, normally i won't open until 10 minutes.
MAN
— Ya know, actually, it's not for your meat i came. I wanted to suggest you something.
GREEN
— What ?
MAN
— In fact, i have this supermarket, and i recruit some shops in order to serve their products here. I knew about this ice cream merchant...
GREEN
— Ok, i will see, later. (He takes a paper the man offers to him, but as soon as the stranger leaves, he tosses it in a thrash. The scene shifts into Arnold visiting Green a few seconds later).
ARNOLD
— Hey Mr Green !
GREEN
— Hey Arnold, how can i be useful ?
ARNOLD
— Well i would like two bifsteacks.
GREEN
— I will serve it with pleasure. (He obliges and Arnold pays for it).
ARNOLD
— Did you hear about this new commercial center ?
GREEN
— Well, i'm not very interested.
ARNOLD
— Give a chance, even as a customer. You never know until you try. (He leaves as Green stays with a pensive expression. Screen turns black).
(The scene opens with Green going to this new commercial center. He sees some of people working here as well as several customers and listens to them.)
GERALD
— It's very good to make his errands here.
RHONDA
— I like it !
BAKER
— Selling bread in his place is like an eden.
(Green begins to reconsider, the scene shifts into Green having his own shop now in the commercial center.)
MAN
— Don't worry, Mr Green, if you don't like it, you can still resign.
GREEN
— Yeah, take a chance.
(He actually remains unconvinced but decides still to try. We then see a montage in which some people visit Green and they like his new shop. One day, Arnold comes.)
ARNOLD
— So, Mr Green, how do you do ?
GREEN
— Yeah, i admit it's great, i'm sure i made the right choice.
ARNOLD
— I'm glad you think like this.
(Green continues to happily serves his customers, but it's only an appearance. As he goes home, he enters to his living room and sats in his sofa. He then begins to think about how it was great to be independant. As a music plays, he remembers some things. When he first opened his shop, and the mayor proudly shook his hand, for example, when he had his first customers, when he became mayor, when he celebrated his 10 years professionnal anniversary... Green is sad, and goes to bed. Screen turns black.)
(The scene opens with Green sadly sat in a bench. Arnold sees him and approaches gently).
ARNOLD
— Hey, Mr Green, how do you do ?
GREEN
— Ah, it's not the great, Arnold.
ARNOLD
— Why ?
GREEN
— You know, at first, i thought it would be cool to have the shop in a special center. Especially, if it's an ecological center.
ARNOLD
— But, regarding what you tell me, there is a drawback.
GREEN
— Yeah, to be honest, i miss my old shop. Even if here, it's more simple, even if i win much money, i admit it is not made for me. I miss being in my own environment without all those people.
ARNOLD
— It's understandable. Do you remember about my advice when you decided tto run against the imcubent mayor ?
GREEN
— Yeah, you taught me how to keep my butcher's speech, while even wanting to keep a foot in the political world.
ARNOLD
— That was a great suggestion. And i do'nt want to be overcrushed by my pride. But if you want my opinion, i think it's preferrable to have less money and much more happiness than the opposite.
GREEN
— Maybe... (He gets up and leaves, his hands behind his back. The scene shifts at night, Green is in his chair, and he gets pensive. As he thinks and thinks again, his two angel guardians appear from every shoulder's sides)
ANGEL 1
— Marty, usually, there is an angel and a demon. But thanks to your good nature, you have two angels. I'm the angel who has to represente your former life.
ANGEL 2
— And i'm the one who has to represente your current life. We both will try to see what's better for you. (As they both cite avantages and drawbacks, we see an another montage in which Green debates and takes some note).
(The Screen turns black).
(The scene opens with Green discussing with the man).
GREEN
— So, i think it's the best solution for me.
MAN
— Ah, i can understand, sometimes, a man has to follow his heart and not his head. I will miss you, i admit. (They shake a last time, their hands, and Green in a most happy state, leaves with his box full of his staff, in his hands. The scene shifts to him in his old shop, when he is like a fish in the water, and prepares to welcome his regular customers, with a large smile on his face).
The Screen turns black.
The End.
