The Ghost is in hyperspace, returning from a mission. Seventh Sister is walking down the hall, hearing lightsaber sounds from another room. She enters, seeing Ezra practicing his lightsaber technique.
Seventh can't help but grin seeing him train. "What are you working on?" she asks Ezra.
Ezra turns off his saber. "These holovideos have been really helping me practice my defense, especially when it comes to troopers."
Seventh is staring at the holovideo. Is that him? "The Hero with No Fear". Anakin Skywalker. Her master and members of the council considered him reckless. Although, she admired him in her former life. She viewed Skywalker as someone who always gets the job done and cares for his troops. He was admired by the rest of the galaxy.
"I recognize the teacher in your video."
Ezra was intrigued, "Well, Kanan and Ahsoka told me his name was Anakin Skywalker. Heard he was very courageous."
"Well what they might not tell you is how close he was with his clones. He fought in the front, protecting anyone he could. Ironic, since the clones ended up betraying him."
Ezra added, "Heard he was a powerful Jedi."
"For a Jedi, yes… I am surprised he was killed by Vader at the temple."
"Oh yeah, Kanan told me about the destruction at the Jedi Temple. That was Vader doing?" Seventh nodded in response.
"Kanan told me he saw clones kill her master and he escaped. He was off-world at the time."
Ezra thought about Seventh. Her life is a mystery to him. All he knows her as is a former Inquisitor, who has a thing for him. She formerly wanted him to serve as her apprentice, but now Ezra is in charge of protecting her. She still toys with him, but Ezra believes that she cares for him.
Was she a former Jedi? She always mentioned being "quite older" than Ezra. She must have been at least a child during the Purge. He wanted to know her life during that point.
"When the Jedi Purge happened, where were you?"
Seventh stared down at the floor, daydreaming about a nightmare. Seventh has not felt this much anxiety since being in the presence of him... Vader.
"I was with my Jedi master. I was in the Jedi Order at the time…"
"The fight with the Separatists started to die down. We were suddenly attacked by our clones. I fled with my master to the grasslands."
"The grass was high, which provided us cover. Although, hiding from the clones was not enough. We lasted only 1 to 2 weeks."
Seventh continued, "A darkness I haven't felt anytime before approached our location. He was determined to slaughter us. Eventually he sensed and found us."
Seventh is filled with goosebumps explaining the next part. "I… He… Vader struck down my master… like she was nothing…"
"I got out of the grass… pulled my master's blade and struck down all that I could. Clone after clone. Anger and revenge fueling my power. Once I ran to Vader with what I had, he saw enough. I was forced unconscious."
Then the part that is hard for her to let go comes next. "I was tortured by him and forced to join the Inquisitorious. I saw how easy it is to turn my anger and hatred into power."
Ezra and Seventh Sister stare at each other. Ezra opens his hand and places it on her own in sympathy.
Even though she still has anger, hatred… She is still helping the crew.
"Why are you here? Why did you join us?"
"I still have my fun with you Bridger. You saved my life from Maul. You are fervent, ambitious. I originally wanted you to be my apprentice, now I feel like you're my bodyguard."
Ezra lifted his chin and expressed his confusion. "Still don't understand what you mean by that."
Seventh rolled her eyes. "Bridger, you're the reason you kept me sane while the Rebels were interrogating me after Malachor."
She continued. "You made sure I wasn't messed with while imprisoned. You made me feel more myself. Still on a loosened leash from the Rebels, but I still like it."
Ezra was happy that Seventh was grateful and caring for him at least. He still wants to guide her in the right direction.
"Well, from what I'm being taught, I'm learning more to be in the moment and be prepared for any future outcome. Only learn from the past as a way to move forward."
"Your point, Bridger?"
"I feel like the dark side can't let go of the past, the ability to forgive. Because of them not being able to forgive, they resort to anger and hate."
"And how do you deal with your past Bridger?"
"Well, I've had problems knowing my parents might be alive. I haven't let them go… but I don't show hate or anger towards the Empire. There are many in the rebellion who were part of it and saw their true ways."
"I have learned to give someone another chance, despite what they've done in the past," Ezra said, staring into Seventh's eyes.
"I believe you are redeeming yourself."
There was a moment of silence, just staring at each other.
"Hmf… at one point I thought you would be my apprentice, my pet…" Seventh smiled. Ezra's cheeks were turning red again.
"But now, I think you can help me in a different way. I always knew we would be side by side in some way." Seventh momentarily places her hand under Ezra's chin. He gets goosebumps. Seventh grins in satisfaction.
She then gives a stern face. "Make no mistake Bridger, I didn't come to fight for your pesky Rebellion.. I…"
Seventh Sister rarely feels like this. Caring for another. She only focused on herself all these years, on just surviving torture. When she is vulnerable, it usually involves violence. Although, in this case her vulnerability is coming from Bridger toying with her emotions.
Then she came back to reality. She saw a confused look on Bridger's face.
"Are you okay?" Ezra finally asks.
Seventh closes her eyes, telling her mind to calm itself down. "Calm itself down?" she asked herself. "Isn't that a Jedi teaching? Ugh the way I think of the force has changed so much since Malachor."
Seventh spoke. "Yes, I am going to get something to eat."
She walks to the door looking at Bridger preparing to continue training.
"Have fun Bridger," Seventh said, giving a wink.
Ezra's cheeks turn red.
