One-Shot: Overlooking Ilos
Author's Note: As per usual, I am indebted to Jade Tatsu for their mastery of Reaper depiction.
I'm rewriting ME1 slightly so that Ilos was found, but the facility that contained Vigil managed to stay dark. The Reapers wouldn't overlook an entire fucking planet!

The Prothean scientists worked frantically, knowing there was precious little time before the Reaper would scan the network.
"Hurry! We must erase all information on this site!"
Within this secret facility lay the salvation of the Prothean species: countless soldiers, scientists, and engineers placed in cryosleep. When the Reapers were gone, they would emerge to a desolate galaxy and rebuild the Prothean Empire anew.
Unless they were discovered!
"Disconnected! The Reapers are blind to us!"
Cheers were heard throughout the facility, and a few hours later all those who were to go into cryosleep said their goodbyes to one another.
Then Vigil took over.

HARBINGER: Kare'lya. Report on Ilos.
KARE'LYA: The planet has been scoured clean, First One.
HARBINGER: Excellent. And the processing?
KARE'LYA: First One, I do not believe that the Protheans can be made into Ascended form.
HARBINGER: Then we shall have a Cycle without Prime forms.
KARE'LYA: Who will lead the species that the Protheans conquered?
HARBINGER: Assign the Destroyers to me. I will ensure they are properly educated in the way of Ascension.
KARE'LYA: As you command, First One.
