She took a small step forward and stumbled onto the ground. The jump didn't go as planned, again, not that it ever does. Rose glanced at her surroundings and saw it was at least earth. Not that it really mattered, not as long as the Tardis was close. Which it was. Her mind flared with a smoothing melody as usual whenever she had gotten close to the wonderful time ship.
Rose turned the corner and almost wept in joy at the sight of the old girl. She quickly stumbled towards the doors when she heard a loud voice shout at her.
"OI! What are you trying to do with my ship!"
~WHO~
The Doctor watched as a small pink and yellow human tried to get into the Tardis. He felt his ship hum in excitement at the girl. That was odd. Odd indeed. He called and stopped the girl before she could harm the pain. Running a hand through his brown curly hair he started toward the young woman. She was dressed in a black military uniform with what looked like a vortex manipulator attached to her wrist and a gun on her hip. She had a pink jumper on that clashed horribly with the uniform if he did say so himself. Her skin was flushed a rosy hue that made her glow slightly.
The Doctor let his hand drop from his hair as he regarded her suspiciously. She was staring at him with shock and what looked suspiciously like pain.
"D-Did you regenerate again? What happened?"
The words struck him and made him gap at her. She, a human child, knew about regeneration? He regarded her carefully as she took a small step towards her. He narrowed his eyes on her. Was she sent for him? To harm him? Where was Sarah Jane when he needed her? She could probably clear this up.
"Doctor?"
Ah, right. He was being rude. He simply must stop staring at her. She did have a lovely form. Not that he noticed such things.
"Ah, my dear. You have me at a disadvantage. You see, you know me but I haven't met you, not yet at least."
There. He wasn't rude. He watched as her face fell and her vortex manipulator beeped at her. He heard her mumble something and glare at the thing before looking back at him with a small smile.
"Seems so… I-If I never get a chance to tell you again. 'Suppose I should just let you know that…"
He watched as she trailed off and her eyes misted over. He felt the urge to reach out and comfort her. He could feel the Tardis try to reach out to the woman and comfort her. That was going to be something he would have to investigate later. Right now it seems as if she was going to say something important.
"Yes?" He tried to prompt her to continue. She took a shuddering breath before letting her eyes slip closed. Her wrist made another beeping noise that was louder than the last. He saw as her eyes shot back open and she slapped the thing. She started to dissolve into billions of tiny gold specks. But just before she was gone he heard her yell out three words that made him freeze.
"I love you!"
What? WHAT?! WHAT?!
~WHO~
Rose let out a sob as she collapsed on the floor of Torchwood in the wrong universe. She couldn't keep doing this. She couldn't keep getting so close and then be forced back here. She heard Mickey walk over to her and crouch down.
"Rose?"
Except that wasn't Mickey. No, that was… That was the Doctor. Not her proper time Doctor. No, this was the one she just met. She squeezed her eyes closed in the hopes that she could hold on to her imagination of him. 'Cause this was a delusion. He, the new old Doctor, wasn't at Torchwood and there was no way that she was still in the proper universe.
Also, he didn't know her name. She never told him. Definitely a delusion. She was just too tired. She needed a quick nip and then she'd be right as rain. She let out a shaky breath and grabbed onto her pink jumper that she refused to take off when doing the jumps. She wanted the Doctor to know that it was her. His pink and yellow human. Well, humanish.
She felt cool hands reach out and drag her from the floor. Keeping her eyes shut she let the unknown person, who she was sure was Mickey, pull her through a door. She felt the hum of the Tardis surround her and warm her mind. She must be going crazy. She had to be. That or she was finally dying. Maybe that was for the best. She couldn't deny that it had been a thought that started coming to the forefront of her mind more and more recently. Each failed attempt after another drew her closer and closer to her end. She has fought in so many wars now. So, so many wars. Sometimes her team didn't pull her back and she would be stuck on whatever planet she landed on. Most of the time it was fine but every now and then she would get injured and have to rest for a few days. Her jumps kept getting closer and closer together. She didn't need to rest and her team thought that she got most of her rest where and whenever she landed. She had been jumping for years. It had only been a few months for her team but she'd be on a planet for seconds to years. Her last jump she was fighting in a civil war that lasted five years. It was hell and she had wanted to give up so many times. She couldn't though. She had to at least help these people. She had to find the Doctor. She had to-
"Rose, are you okay?"
The voice snapped her out of her daze and she stared into the brown eyes of Mickey Smith. She croaked out a small sob whilst nodding. Of course it wasn't the Doctor. Rose felt Mickey pull her into a sitting hug as she collapsed again. She didn't want to keep doing this. She was so close. She wouldn't give up. She couldn't. She'd find him and she'd tell him properly that she would stay with him forever. It looked like she could actually keep that promise this time. She wasn't aging and healing at a remarkable speed. She will find him and she will keep her promise of forever.
"Yeah, sorry Micks. I'm ready to go again."
With a deep breath she stood and straightened her back. No time to cry Rose. She glanced down at the dimension cannon and pressed the button dissolving into a bright golden light.
