Chapter 1: Tanjiro's Dream. (Or Is It Reality?)
Tanjiro had woken up from a weird dream again. He slowly opened his eyes as he looked over & saw that his friends, Zenitsu & Inosuke were still asleep. Tanjiro looked over to the other side and saw that his little sister, Nezuko had her back turned as she was still asleep. Tanjiro sighed as he grabbed his journal and wrote down his dream so he won't forget about it.
When Tanjiro was done writing in his journal, he hid it back in the nightstand as he sighed and got out of bed and headed to the restroom. The floor made a few creaking sounds as he tiptoed to the bathroom.
Nezuko slowly opened her eyes as she turned to her back and looked at the ceiling. She looked over and noticed that her big brother, Tanjiro, wasn't in his bed. She blinked as she sat up and yawned. She got out of bed as she smiled and headed to the kitchen to see if she could find anything to cook for her friends.
Tanjiro came out of the restroom as he noticed that his sister wasn't in bed any more. Zenitsu & Inosuke were still asleep. He smiled at them as he grabbed his phone and headed to the kitchen. He gasped when he saw Nezuko in the kitchen.
"N-Nezuko? Hey, do you need any help?" Tanjiro asked her as he approached her.
Nezuko turned to him as she smiled at him. Her demon fangs we're still there but she only uses them for self defense. She's still a demon & half human, and refuses to harm a human being.
"I'm alright, Tanjiro! Thank you though. I see you woke up early." Nezuko said as she walked over to the counter to crack the eggs.
"Well, that's because I had a dream about Mr. Rengoku again….he….he gave me a kiss on my cheek and told me to stay strong and keep fighting off demons. I really miss him." Tanjiro said as he sighed sadly.
Nezuko frowned, she knew her brother and Rengoku were in a romantic relationship. Tanjiro has been feeling so empty, heartbroken, depressed, and having sour moods since Rengoku died. He still blames himself as he wished he had done more.
Nezuko put her hand on Tanjiro's cheek and smiled at him. "We can visit his grave today. The other Hashiras will be there, I would love to see Shinobu." Nezuko said happily.
Tanjiro smiled softly at her and nodded, "Alright. We can go and visit his gravesite today."
"Also, I do need help. Mind watching the food for me while I wake up the other two? I know they love staying up late playing games, but I'm sure they'll be thrilled to hangout with us today." Nezuko asked her brother as she walked to the stairs, waiting for an answer from him.
"Of course! You go right ahead, Nezuko. I'll keep an eye on it." Tanjiro said to her happily with a fake smile.
Nezuko knew that his smile was fake, but she didn't wanna say anything as she walked up stairs. Tanjiro sighed again as he was thinking about his dream. He & Rengoku were at Cherry Blossom Trees & they were having a picnic and talking about what life would've been like without any demons in the world. Many butterflies were flying around as the cherry blossoms petals fell on the ground.
"Do you always dream about your sister becoming human again, sweetie?" Rengoku asked his lover as he sipped his sake.
"Always. She'll still be by my side helping me fight off demons." Tanjiro replied back as he smiled at Rengoku.
Rengoku smiled back at him and patted his head. "You're a very good brother to her, and I'm sure your other siblings would appreciate you taking good care of her." Rengoku told Tanjiro as he softly smiled at him.
Tanjiro frowned a bit. "Thank you, love. I dearly miss them."
"Why don't we visit their gravesite today? Would that make you feel better, my love?" Rengoku asked him as he stroked Tanjiro's cheek.
"I would love that, love. Thank you." Tanjiro said to him as he smiled at Rengoku.
Both men looked at each other deep in their eyes as they felt their hearts were pounding really fast. They leaned close to their lips as Rengoku began to repeatedly call out Tanjiro's name.
"Tanjiro. Tanjiro. Tanjiro. Tanjiro." Rengoku said many times.
Tanjiro pulled back as he tilted his head, he then gasped when he saw Nezuko's face on Rengoku as he gasped. He then forced himself awake as he panted.
"Hey look! He's finally awake! Hey Konpochiro, your sister made us breakfast and it's really delicious~! Hehehehehe!" Inosuke said happily.
"Nezukooooooo.~ Your cooking is so good.~ I want more and more.~" Zenistu said as he blushed.
Nezuko blushed also and giggled, "Hurry now. We gotta meet the others to visit Mr. Rengoku's gravesite. Big brother, better get your breakfast or else it'll get cold." Nezuko said to her big brother as she smiled at him.
Tanjiro blinked his eyes. He blinked again to make sure he wasn't dreaming. He slowly stood up from his seat as he grabbed a plate to get his food ready. Nezuko blinked also and sighed softly. She really wishes she could help him but she doesn't know what to do as she's just barely human again and very clueless on relationships. Tanjiro sat back down as he slowly ate his breakfast. It was dead silent as no one said a word in over 20 minutes till everyone got done. They all headed back upstairs to change clothes and wash up as Zenistu received a phone call.
He looked at it as he tilted as he answered it. "H-Hello?" Zenistu said as he gulped.
"Hi~! This is Shinobu.~ I'm just letting you know that we're on our way to Mr. Rengoku's gravesite. We hope to see you soon.~" Shinobu said to him as she giggled.
"Ah! We're on our way! No worries, thank you for telling me!" Zenistu said as he began to sweat.
Nezuko smiled as she heard everything. "No worries, Zenistu. I heard everything. We should head out now."
"Alright! Come on, Konpochiro! We're going to visit Bugeyes grave!" Inosuke said happily as he ran down the stairs doing a cartwheel and the splits when he landed down.
Tanjiro dried his face as he looked at himself in the mirror as he sighed. He came out of the restroom as he turned off the lights and walked downstairs to follow his sister and friends. Nezuko smiled as she closed and locked the door and they all walked to Rengoku's gravesite.
They saw the others as they smiled at them. Only a few smiled at them. Shinobu walked up to them as she gave them hugs and smiled at them.
"We're so glad you could make it~!" Shinobu said happily.
"We're so glad to see you too~! Sorry we're a little late. We all kinda slept in." Nezuko said as she giggled.
"That's okay~! We're just glad you're all here though. Such cuties you are." Mitsuri said to them as she blushed and smiled.
Sanemi rolled his eyes as he looked over and saw Tanjiro. He raised an eyebrow as he noticed that Tanjiro had a sad look on his face as he looked at the other hashira if they noticed but no one seemed to as they were too busy hugging & talking to Nezuko and her friends. Sanemi sighed as he was going to approach Tanjiro but then Giyu put his hand on his shoulder and shook his head.
"He's still grieving. Dealing with the death of a loved one is never easy and it's got us to the point that we get used to it. Please leave him." Giyu told Sanemi as he turned around and followed the others.
Sanemi watched Giyu walk behind Shinobu as Nezuko walked up to Tanjiro, held his hand and they walked with the others. Genya walked up to Sanemi as he smiled softly at him and held his hand as they all walked to Rengoku's gravesite.
When they all arrived, it got really quiet. They walked up to his headstone as Mitsuri sniffled and let her tears fall from her eyes. Shinobu held her hand as she smiled softly at her. Then everyone held hands as they were all surrounded by Rengoku's headstone.
Then their master, Kagaya walked up to them as he smiled softly at them. "Welcome. I'm glad that you were all able to make it today. I understand you're all still saddened by the death of Kyojuro Rengoku. I am too. But the one who is extremely sad about his death is you. Tanjiro Kamado." Kagaya said to Tanjiro as everyone looked at him.
Tanjiro's heart was pounding so fast that he felt like he was going to pass out. Nobody knows that Rengoku & Tanjiro were in a relationship. Nezuko knows but she kept it a secret as she promised her big brother not to tell anybody. Tanjiro looked at Nezuko as he began to sweat. Nezuko shook her head and mouthed him, "I didn't tell them!" They both looked back at Kagaya.
"Will the rest of you please let me have a small talk with Tanjiro for a moment? It's very personal and important." Kagaya asked them as they all bowed and walked off, far away from them.
Nezuko looked back as her anxiety was causing her to shake. She swore to her brother's soul that she never told anyone. Shinobu put her arm around Nezuko as she smiled at her.
"It's okay. Our master won't yell at your brother." Shinobu told her as she closed her eyes.
Nezuko only nodded at her as Gyomei found everyone an empty spot as he handed them water and snacks. He gave them a warm smile at his friends.
Kagaya waited for a moment as he looked at Tanjiro. He put his hand on his shoulder and smiled at him.
"Dear boy, I understand what you're going through. You and your sister lost your whole family and now you've lost the love of your life." Kagaya said to him.
Tanjiro gasped, he began to tear up. "W-Wait! How'd you know that we were in a relationship? We kept it private, sir." Tanjiro said as he began to cry.
Kagaya put his hand on Tanjiro's shoulder as he gently smiled at him.
"Dear boy, he told me. I accept it. I don't judge anyone for who they date." Kagaya told Tanjiro as he smiled at him.
"Sir, if it's not too much of a hassle, is there a way to bring him back? You see he's been popping into my dreams lately and I was wondering if there was a way to bring him back to life?" Tanjiro asked as he dried his eyes.
Kagaya looked at him as he smiled sadly. "There isn't. But him popping into your dreams means he has never left you. He popped into my dreams a few weeks ago. The only way we can communicate with him is by dreaming about him." Kagaya told Tanjiro as he sighed.
Tanjiro nodded as he understood. "Is it okay if I can stay here for a while? I wish to be alone with him.
Kagaya nodded at him as he smiled. "Of course. Take as much time as you need." Kagaya said to Tanjiro as smiled at him.
Kagaya walked off with his wife, Amane as she smiled at Tanjiro and they both had disappeared. Tanjiro sighed as he looked back at Rengoku's headstone and began to cry.
"Sweetie, I miss you way too much. So much that I feel like I don't wanna live anymore. I'm trying to smile but it's so hard without you. I'm trying to stay strong, but at night that's when I break down crying. I'm trying to help my sister around the house, but I still break down crying. I really wish you were here with me as I feel like giving up right now." Tanjiro looked at Rengoku's headstone. The sun was behind the clouds as it was a bit windy.
Tanjiro grabbed his sword as he put it on his neck. Then he got stopped by someone. Tanjiro gasped as he looked up, seeing a spirit of Rengoku next to his side.
"My love, please don't do that in front of my tombstone. I'm always with you. Always." Rengoku told him as he grabbed his sword and threw it down on the ground.
Tanjiro sighed as he hugged Rengoku and cried.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry! I just miss you. I need you. I wanna bring you back alive. There's gotta be a way to bring you back alive." Tanjiro said as he cried.
Rengoku sighed as he rubbed Tanjiro's hair. He pulled him close to him as he hugged him. He kneeled as he put his hands on Tanjiro's cheeks and kissed him. Tanjiro let his tears fall as he kissed him back.
"I wish there was a way too, sweetie. Here, since they're still gone, let's cuddle for a bit. I've always wanted to do that when we began dating." Rengoku said as he sat down and Tanjiro sat between his legs and held his hands.
"I miss this feeling. I tried it with Giyu but he isn't a romantic person. Zenitsu and Inosuke will offer sometimes, but I would sometimes refuse as it's not the same." Tanjiro told his lover as he sighed.
"I understand, my love. Is this better though?" Rengoku asked him as he kissed Tanjiro's hair.
"Yes. Also, why did you tell Kagaya about our relationship? I'm afraid of what the others might think of us now." Tanjiro asked him as he teared up.
"I was happy. And I mean extremely happy. I never dated anyone before. Then when I met you I knew you were the one. My heart was telling me 'he's the one.' I'm sorry my love. I should have talked to you about it soon before I died." Rengoku said as he chuckled.
Tanjiro rolled his eyes. "You know, your humor is very bad but I love it either way, babe." Tanjiro said as he looked at his lover.
Rengoku smiled at him as he stroked his hair. He then looked at him as he closed his eyes and leaned to Tanjiro.
Tanjiro gasped as he knew his dream was coming true. Even though it wasn't at the cherry blossom trees and a small picnic, but Tanjiro really wanted to kiss Rengoku just one last time. Tanjiro's & Rengoku's lips finally meet as they both passatinoley kissed each other.
Tanjiro got on top of Rengoku, kissing him some more as Rengoku closed his eyes, holding onto Tanjiro's lower back as Tanjiro blushed and slid his tongue inside Rengoku's mouth. Rengoku moaned as he had stopped Tanjiro. Tanjiro blinked as he sat up, looking at his lover.
"Is something the matter, babe?" Tanjiro asked his lover in concern.
"We mustn't. Everyone will come back and will give us weird looks." Rengoku said to him.
Tanjiro sighed and got off his lover. "I understand. I really…..wanna make love to you…..babe…" Tanjiro said as he moaned through his words.
He & Rengoku panted as Tanjiro was kissing his neck, grinding on him, as Rengoku rubbed Tanjiro's lower back again. They both looked at each other as they passionately kissed each other again. Both using tongue as they had to stop once more as they heard a voice.
"Tanjiro? Tanjiro?" Nezuko called out to him as she was approaching him.
"It's Nezuko. She'll see us like this. You gotta go love." Tanjiro said as he stood up, fixing his clothes.
Rengoku smiled as he also stood up and kissed Tanjiro once more and smiled at him.
"My love, I'll appear into your dreams tonight, think of me and we'll make love to each other. If that's what you really want." Rengoku asked him as he was slowly disappearing.
"Yes. I really want that, babe. I'll see you tonight." Tanjiro said as he hugged Rengoku once more.
Rengoku smiled softly as he hugged him back and he finally disappeared. Tanjiro opened his eyes as he sighed. Nezuko gasped as she ran up to Tanjiro and hugged him.
"Big brother, are you okay? You've been here for a long time." Nezuko asked him.
"Yes. I'm alright. I'm sorry I didn't come back a little sooner. I still needed a moment." Tanjiro said as he looked at Nezuko and smiled at her.
Nezuko smiled back. The two kissed their fingers as they gently tapped it on Rengoku's tombstone. Then they both smiled at each other and walked off.
"Everyone is heading home but Mr. Tengen is offering us to go to his place for some dinner. Would you like to go?" Nezuko asked Tanjiro as she smiled.
"Of course! I would love that. Let's go." Tanjiro said as he held onto Nezuko's arm.
"Also, I swear I didn't tell anybody about your relationship with Rengoku. If that's what master Kagaya wanted to talk to you about." Nezuko said as she looked at Tanjiro.
"Actually, he just found out on his own. He accepts it. But thank you for keeping it a secret still. You're really the best sister I could ever have." Tanjiro told her as he gave her a warm smile.
Nezuko giggled as she hugged Tanjiro, "I'm your sister that's what we do~! Anyways, let's get going before Inosuke goes crazy and will drag us to Tengen's house. Hahaha." Nezuko said as she laughed.
Tanjiro smiled as he laughed back. "Yeah, you're right." Tanjiro said as they all came out of the graveyard forest.
Everyone looked at them as they gave them a warm smile. Tanjiro smiled back at them. Nezuko went to Zenistu as she held his hand. Tanjiro looked back at the graveyard forest one last time as he saw Rengoku's spirit smiling at him. Tanjiro smiled sadly as he nodded at him and turned back around as the sun was setting down and everyone had headed to Tengen's house for dinner.

So this is my first Demon Slayer fanfiction as it's my favorite anime series! I might not do any birthdays for the characters as I am getting a little bored writing those every now & then & I need to memorize the characters names, powers, personalities, etc. & I am not sure if I'll make a Demon Slayer OC so we'll see.
So since this is MY fanfiction, this is an AU where Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, & Inosuke are over 20 years old. Rengoku & Tanjiro are in a relationship. (I'll probably bring him back alive.) & Nezuko still has her demon powers for battles & self defense only. So she's technically part demon & part human. :D
So yeah. I hope y'all liked this. If not then go read something else.
