Krystal and K2 arrive on Fachina and land the arwing just out of sight. A blizzard is raging on. Krystal stumbles a bit climbing out falling to the ground and getting a mouthful of snow.
Plagh! darn blizzard can't see anything and it's f-f-f-freezing.
I forgot you actually feel cold Says K2 Well anyway the base is just up ahead come on.
They arrive at a cliff just up ahead seeing a small base K2 pulls out some binoculars.
Oh my it really looks like there preparing for war. Let's see there loading up ships with weapons. And it looks like all the Androids around here are wearing winter camouflage army style uniforms. So we'll need to get some are selves if we want to blend in. Hold on a sec I spotted two of them hanging around a corner by a doorway. Looks like a Blindspot from where all the preparations are being made.
Krystal just stands there with her teeth chattering.
Oh right better get a move on before you freeze up.
They head down the cliff preparing to sneak up on the two stragglers.
So what do you think will happen after we take over Corneria? One of the androids asks.
How should I know probably just turn the lylat system into a cliche dictator ship.
Krystal and K2 Grab them and take them out. They drag them inside and steal there uniforms.
Ok where in now let's find a way to shut this place down. Says K2
But how will we tell each other apart? Asks Krystal.
K2 pulls out two sets of gloves one black and one white.
Here we'll each wear one black one and one white. Then we look for the mismatched gloves. Hmm your still chattering hear.
K2 puts a balaclava on Krystal.
They grab two rifles from the wall and walk down the hall blending in.
Ok let's see there has too be a map or something.
Hey what are two doing! Shouts a android.
Oh we're just patrolling the hallways. Says Krystal
Really cause last time I checked all troops were to be loading the weapons.
We were put on reassignment this one triped and dropped something. Says K2
Well alright then but what's with the mismatched gloves?
Oh you know how it is they get lost and one glove ends up getting put back then suddenly your all mismatched. Says Krystal
All right then carry on. Says the android Krystal duplicate.
Krystal and K2 continue down the base corridors the walls painted a dim gray with the matching floor tiles making noise under there boots with each step.
I don't like this what if they find out what we're doing? Says Krystal.
They won't it's completely fool proof. Ok there's a map. Let's see ok we're down the hallway from the main entrance the west corridor has the weapons storage the east has the security room. And the basement has the Production line Then the generator room is to the north end. Says K2
I think we should check out the production line first. Says Krystal
They walk down the hall heading for the basement coming across the marked sign. They enter and take the escalator down. A whole assembly line comes into view Where a whole bunch of Krystal androids are being mass produced.
Oh my this is unsettling. Says Krystal nervously.
Ok they don't look active yet. notes K2 Look there's a room up on the catwalk with some computers maybe there's some information on there weaknesses.
They make there way up to the computer room and check the system log.
Ok cover the door while I hack in. says K2
K2 looks through the computers files trying to find some advantage against the mechanical machines.
Just as I thought these new models are emp resistant and designed to perfectly follow orders with no question. But it appears all models currently used for the invasion force still are vulnerable to electromagnetic pulses. The vermin with a doctorate must have just figured that out. So we're gonna blow this place sky high.
And how are we gonna possibly do that? Asks Krystal
We'll go to the weapons storage and find some charges and set them off in the most vulnerable structures of the base.
Back on Corneria
General Pepper is briefing the Corneria army and the star Fox team on the approaching threat.
I trust everyone knows why we're here a dangerous enemy consisting entirely of highly skilled androids are approaching and will soon strike the city. But we do know of there weakness. Emp. If we can set off a big enough blast they should cease to function. To do this we will send squads of men to the power plants on each side of the city to overload the generators. All other units will provide cover from the ground and air.
What happens if we fail to overload the generators sir? asks a soldier.
Given the skill and brutality these machines show then we will have to dig in and hope for a miracle. Says General Pepper with doubt. I want all of you to prepare as best you can immediately we are not sure of how much time we have so do all you can. dismissed.
Fachina
Krystal walks through the hallway to the weapons storage. She is stopped by two guards.
Halt where's your permit?
Permit? She asks
Yes all units on the base require a permit to enter the weapons storage. It's new protocol.
Krystal searches her uniform for a permit but can't find anything. The guard just laughs.
Relax I'm just kidding go on through. By the way what's with the face mask?
Oh just looks cool.
Krystal enters the weapons storage looking for some kind of explosives.
Ok let's see there's got to be something ah ha detonation charges quite a bit of them. But I can't just walk out of here with them.
A voice comes over the intercom telling everyone in the base the invasion will begin shortly and all units be on standby for possible deployment if needed. K2 contacts Krystal over the radio.
Krystal you hear that?
Yeah it's not good I just found the weapons storage and some detonation charges.
Good unfortunately for everyone on Corneria the ships took off there probably going to hyper jump straight to Corneria.
Darn! where are you asks Krystal.
In a lookout tower I can see the entrance to the weapons storage through the window below. Don't worry I'll take care of the guards.
The guards are taken out by sniper fire from K2 and Krystal drags them inside the weapons storage and hides them behind some crates.
Stupid androids.She says
She hides a bunch charges in a backpack that was sitting in the corner of the room. She meets up with K2 and they split the charges as she pulls out a map of where to set them.
Ok according to the computer the most vulnerable structures are here and here and I also found the shut down protocol. It's embedded on this flash drive we just upload it to the server and all the androids shut down the Dr. must have made just in case.
Ok then let's get it done. Says Krystal
TV monitors in the hall turn on showing that the Invasion of Corneria has now started with the battle already seemingly in the androids favor.
We gotta hurry panics Krystal.
Corneria
The ground troops are immediately overwhelmed. Falco and Slippy take to the sky with the air forces as Fox helps on the ground in a land master.
This is Alpha team were making are way to the power plant on the north side of the city.
Bravo team were making are way to the south side power plant. we could use some air support!
Copy that! Falco Slippy give Bravo team some air support I'll assist Alpha team on the ground. Says Fox
We got a problem Fox we got those single soldier anti air lasers firing at us. says Falco
Fox aims for the androids firing the anti air lasers and takes them out.
Ok all clear Falco let's keep moving.
More forces are fighting in the center of the city and are suddenly hit with a neurological disruptor and become too disoriented to fight. Slippy sees this and gives support from the air. Meanwhile Alpha team is almost to the north side power plant when suddenly the bridge is taken out with acid grenades.
Dang! guys the bridge is out we gotta go the long way around.
Fachina
Krystal and K2 set the last of the explosive charges.
Ok last charge set now let's get to the server room and upload the shutdown protocol. Says K2
They head down the hall to the server room. Suddenly some cold air blows through the door and Krystal gets a chill and shivers.
Wait a minute androids don't shiver. Says one of the guards.
Oh I'm just imitating the normal people who will soon be under are rule.
The android activates thermal vision.
Androids don't have body heat. Your the real Krystal! And your the traitor!
K2 takes out the guard. Run!
The alarms go off as they run to the server room dodging blaster fire. They fire back while sprinting down the hall. They finally make it to the server room and Krystal provides covering fire while K2 tries to upload the shutdown protocol.
Darn it I need a password I need some time.
Well hurry there's too many of them out here!
Corneria
The battle rages on with alot of the Cornerian forces having to fall back. Enemy air ships appear on the scene quickly taking out the Corneria air forces. Lasers blast them down as everyone tries to see where they came from.
If anyone is going to take down star Fox it's going to be us. Says wolf. Panther Leon form up let's take these invaders down.
Never thought I'd be glad to see Star Wolf. Says Fox with some relief
This is bravo team we made it to the power plant getting ready to overload the power supply. Thirty seconds to overload! just hold them-
He is cut short as Bravo leader Is hit by blaster fire and his radio cuts out.
Bravo leader come in! come in! Dang I hope the overload is still successful. Fox says with frustration.
The temporary alliance of Star Fox and Star Wolf are able to handle the enemy ships with almost no problem as they take them down one by one. After thirty seconds have passed the power plant fails to overload Fox checks the camera feed and it shows the Androids broke through and shut down the power all together.
Fox what's going on the power plant didn't overload. asks Slippy
The Androids shut it down all together we'll have to go inside and turn it back on.
The enemy flagship suddenly opens it's bottom hatch and lowers the experimental tank that was stolen from the weapons lab on Katina. It charges a laser and fires on a building causing it to evaporate and melt.
That's... not good. says Fox with panic in his voice.
Fox tries to fight back but his land master,s fire power is too weak. He realizes this and tries to retreat but his wheels get blasted and they melt from under him. He climbs out the hatch and scrambles out of the way dodging the tanks laser fire.
Not good not good! we need a miracle at this point!
Fachina
Krystal is still holding off the androids by herself as K2 Still hacks into the computer.
Are you finished yet what's taking so long! Shouts Krystal
Just about... FINISHED! Ok let's get out of here.
K2 throws a spare charge and blasts it causing it to detonate clearing the way out of the room.
They run through the hall trying to get to the entrance but more androids come and block the way. They cut to the right and run as fast as they can.
Ok the program will take a bit but once we get out of here we can blow the charges and level this nightmare factory! Says K2
They end up running into a dead end as the androids catch up to them and raise there weapons as Krystal and K2 drop there's. Dr.Mouse shows up sarcastically clapping.
Well done A for effort but we found your charges and removed them. Sorry but I win.
K2 notices a trash chute behind Krystal.
When you get down the bottom run as fast as you can. She whispers
What?
K2 opens and shoves Krystal down the trash chute then presses the button on her neck activating her self destruct protocol.
A noble gesture but it will do no good. if you surrender and agree to reprogramming you can join us in my new rule. Boasts Dr.Mouse
I don't think so.
K2 grabs Dr.Mouse and puts him in a full nelson.
What! what are you doing?
I activated my self destruct and just to make sure you can't cause anymore harm I'm taking you with me. I'd say we have about eighty seconds.
No no let me go I'll give you what ever you want!
What's the matter Doctor don't want to go out with your own creation aw I'm disappointed.
Don't stand there you bolt brains fire!
Then you get hit and I still destruct.
Well even so... wait a minute oh no I just remembered your the first model the explosive I put in you is just strong enough to take out this whole facility. no no let me go!
Should have thought about that before you made plans for conquest. says K2
The shutdown protocol has just finished uploading and is now activating. And Krystal had made it outside the facility and is sprinting away as fast as she can through the blizzard relying on memory of where to go. She makes it back to the arwing and looks back at the base removing her mask. The facility gets destroyed in a massive explosion. Krystal looks through the blizzard seeing balls of fire and crumbling structures. She looks on in dispar as she knew the one mechanical doppelganger worth saving was gone.
Goodbye K2 I wish you could have made it out as well. Krystal says with sadness.
Corneria
Fox is backed into a corner as the tank approaches him. it aims it's cannon and prepares to fire but just before it can happen all the androids start shutting down. Everyone is confused with what happened but soon after cheer anyway as they knew they somehow had won.
It's over? just like that oh well a victory is a victory. Says Fox
Fox looks over at all the damage and now lifeless androids scattered about.
Least it's all over So many lost. hopefully there will be a permanent peace now.
Later on The team arrives back at the great Fox but can't find Krystal.
Hey where's Krystal? wonders Peppy
As if right on que Krystal walks through the door with her head hung low still wearing the military uniform from the base. She trudges over to Fox and collapses in his arms in tears.
She's gone Fox K2 is gone She blew herself up to destroy everything the madman had made.
Hey it's ok everything is over now. Fox whispers. She did what she had to.
Krystal explains the entire ordeal of what happened on Fachina. around the same time General Pepper explains the entire situation of the androids existence To all inhabited planets of the lylat system. Star Wolf had there names cleared for helping defend Corneria. The military also gathers all of Dr.Mouse,s research and destroys it to make sure it is never used again. And the galaxy is at peace yet again.
