Hello everyone, today's multi chapter is inspired by RandyPandy's story "Tinted Azure Skies" which you can find on archive of our own. It tells the story of Inigo, who after getting nearly killed by Grima in the future while attempting to go to the past, ends up losing his memories and is mistaken for Chrom and Lissa's brother. I loved this fic so much I decided to do my own version, but with Kjelle taking Inigo's role. I normally prefer Chrom X Sully so that's the reason why.
Oh and just like my previous fic, overprotective, Morgan twins are back but male Morgan will be named Linfan because I like that name better. Now let's begin.
Growing up, Lucina had one goal in mind. To protect Kjelle no matter what. To Lucina, Kjelle meant to most to her. After their parents died, It was just them and Lucina couldn't help but be protective her little sister.
And right now, Lucina was outside the portal leading to the past with Kjelle, Owain, and the Daraen twins.
"I hope to reunite with you two soon, dear cousins." Owain smiled at Lucina and young Kjelle.
"We hope so too." Lucina smiled at owain as she gave the Myrmidon a quick hug.
"But don't you dare goof off to much!" The younger princess made a small glare at him. "I want to see everyone in one piece."
"Ah! Classic Kjelle always hiding her true feelings." Owain smiled as he turned towards Morgan and Linfan. "As for you two, I hope your travel to the past will succeed."
"Hey, you have the son of the best tactician-" Linfan started as the redhead said confidently in his tactician garbs.
"And the daughter of the best merchant!" Morgan smiled even more as the white haired girl held her sword up in her trickster outfit.
"Heh, you two will always bring a good laugh." Owain smiled before turning towards the portal. "See you on the other side!" Owain ran towards the portal and disappeared into it soon leaving the others behind.
Morgan and Linfan then looked at each other before budding each other tightly. "Well sis, It looks like this is it. Once we go through that portal, who knows if we'll come out at the same point."
"We'll find each other." Morgan smiled, "after all, twins stick together." Morgan then looked at the portal and ran through it, disappearing soon after.
Once they were alone, Linfan turned to Kjelle and walked up to her. Going into his pocket, the junior tactician gave Kjelle a locket. "Here, I wanted to give you this on your birthday, but given how we're about to go through a portal to the past, I think it's best I give it to you right now."
Kjelle then raised an eyebrow at Linfan and smirked a little "Geeze, Linfan, you are such a dork." She then put the locket around her neck. "But thanks anyway." The younger princess hugged Linfan.
"See you later old friend." Linfan said as he ran into the portal and disappeared as well.
It was now Lucina and Kjelle left. "Someone has a crush!" Lucina mocked Kjelle a little.
"Shut up sister!" Kjelle turned to her older sister giving her a glare before she gave her a weary smile. "This is it! We're actually gonna see mom and dad again. I-I don't know if I can handle this."
Lucina clasped both of her hands on Kjelle's shoulders and made her look at her. "It's okay to be scared."
"But being scared is for weaklings!" Kjelle crossed her eyes. "I may be younger than you, and everyone else, but i still can't show fear."
"It's okay." Lucina gave Kjelle an assuring smile. "We got this. By the time we head through that portal, our mission to save the day will begin. Together."
"Together." Kjelle smiled up at her big sister before hugging her. "Though I wished I had my armor with me. This simple tunic won't do much."
"You can get a new set when we arrive." Lucina giggled as she let go of Kjelle. Lucina then took a good look at the portal. "It's time. Together?" She held her hand out to her little sister.
"Together!" Kjelle smiled as she shook Lucina's hand.
"I think not!" The two sisters turned to see the hooded vessel of Grima heading towards them shrouded in purple fog and surrounded by a dozen of his risen. "It took me a while to find you worms. But I'm here to stop what you're doing."
"No!" This wasn't good. Once they made it through, Naga would close the portal sealing their fates. But if Grima followed them, then it would've been all for nothing. If Grima followed, then he'd destroy the past as well.
"Sister, we have to go!" Kjelle took Lucina hand and attempted to run towards the portal.
"You won't make it." Grima snapped. "Thoron!"
Lucina closed her eyes, bracing herself for getting hit until she heard a thud fall as she saw Kjelle clutching her leg as a Thoron spell gashed into it.
"Get out Luci! Hurry!" Kjelle whimpered. She hardly ever cried but getting hit by a Thoron spell will do that to you.
"No you'll die!" Lucina knelt to the floor and attempted to help her sister up. It was just the two of them now. Once they went through. It would be over. But Grima couldn't follow them.
"Luci just go. If you stay here, he'll kill you too." Kjelle said with tears in her eyes. "Mom and daddy need you more than they need me!" Kjelle then went into her pocket and got out a time of her own. They were close to the portal. So close that just a strong gush of wind could send Lucina into it. And that's what Kjelle intended. "I swiped this tome from uncle Robin before he disappeared. Now it's time I used it. WIND!"
A stormy gush of wind hit Lucina and sent her flying towards the portal. "No! NO!" Lucina then saw Grima's expiration spikes engulf Kjelle entirely causing her to collapse to the ground. "SISTER!!!!" Lucina screamed as she hit down on her fist to prevent her from crying before being sent through time.

"Damn! That foolish girl just won't give up!" Grima grumbled in anger. He then turned to his risen and said "go into the portal and make sure they don't succeed." The risen did as they were told as they ran toward the portal and left. "I'll have to make sure that time is on its right course."
"No you won't!" Grima looked down and saw Naga's spawn clutching onto him. She was all bloody but still breathing.
"How are you still alive?" Grima seethed in anger.
"I won't let you kill Lucina. You already killed my parents and uncle Robin. I won't let you kill Lucina either." Kjelle held onto Grima's leg tightly with a determined face.
Grima knew he couldn't try expiration spikes on her, he knew he end up striking himself in the process. So he simply grabbed her by the helm of her shirt and threw the young teen aside. "Stay there and die like a good little girl!" Grima laughed as he went through the portal and disappeared.
Kjelle simply laid there and started to cry. "Luci. It was all for nothing." She continued to cry. "No. I won't be weak. I can't be weak. Crying is for weaklings and I'm not weak." Kjelle then stumbled up and looked at the portal. "Don't worry Lucina, I won't let him win!"
She gave a determined smile and ran towards the portal before it closed forever. Barely making it in time, Kjelle paid no to her wounds all over her body. What mattered was going to save Lucina.
Kjelle's body felt like it was a rag doll as she went through the portal and onto the other side, a large field near a cliff was her drop off point. And it was very steep.
With one fall, Kjelle finally succumb to unconsciousness. Kjelle barely noticed a red haired knight galloping towards her on her horse with a concerned face. 'Mother.' She thought to herself before blacking out.

Chrom was busy reading in the castle gardens to pass the time, it was an old fairy tale about a prince of two kingdoms uniting them to save the day. An old fable he was fond of. Suddenly Lissa ran over to him with a scared face.
"Chrom! Hurry it's an emergency!" Lissa screamed in terror.
"Hold on Lissa." Chrom placed the book down.
"Sully. She just came with some kid. You have to see it." Lissa explained, terribly though.
"Where is she?" Chrom asked.
"She's outside the medical ward. Hurry!" Lissa said.
Chrom did just that as he ran towards the castle medical ward and saw sully standing right outside the doors with a concerned face.
"Sully, are you okay?" Chrom ran up to her.
"Relax, Captain. I'm fine." Sully smiled at Chrom. "Unfortunately I found some girl while on patrol in the nearby field. She looked like to be in pretty bad shape, so I brought her here for Emmeryn to see."
"That's nice of you Sully, but I have to ask." Said Chrom, "what does Emmeryn have to do with this girl you found?"
Sully then looked to her left and right before speaking. "I know I'm gonna sound crazy, but that girl may be your lost sister."
Chrom's eyes went wide at what he heard. A long lost sister?
(((0)))
Right now, Chrom and Lissa were hearing Emmeryn out at what she was saying. The two were just as confused as anyone else would be at the prospect of a lost sister.
"She's 13, around Lissa's age." Emmeryn said, causing Lissa's eyes to light up.
"Oh wow, a new sister!" Lissa jumped up excitedly.
"She was found badly beaten with several gashes on her. The healers were lucky enough to save her." Emmeryn said.
"How is she doing?" Chrom asked.
"She'll live, thank Naga." Said Emmeryn. "But that's not the crazy part. Chrom, she has your's and father's hair. As well as the mark on her left hand."
"Gods!" Chrom sighed as he rubbed his forehead. His father wasn't the best of people, he constantly fooled around with the palace maids. It's more than likely he had a one night stand with some woman while at war with Plegia.
"So what brought her here to Ylisse before she was attacked. Is she here to claim the throne?" Chrome asked. The last thing they needed was a succession crisis on their hands.
"Fortunately no." Said Emmeryn. "But it's much deeper than that. While recovering, the poor girl couldn't remember a single thing. The healers said she's suffering from amnesia from the trauma. And judging by the sword she had on her, I'm guessing she was on her own for quite some time now."
Chrom sighed. Just when he thought everything was normal, he found out he had a new sister who almost died. "Alright I'll go check here out. Make sure she's alright."
"Chrom don't you scare her away, okay!" Lissa crossed her arms at her big brother.
"Relax Lissa. She'll be fine. Trust me." Chrom said as he walked out of the room and toward the medical wing. He loved his sisters, but naga were they bleeding hearts.
(((0)))
Chrom found her still sitting on the bed wearing a white robe for patients eating some food the medics left her. Chrom had to congratulate them, with how sully described her, she didn't look too bad. Just a couple of scratches and bruises at most.
With the girl's bare feet sticking out of the blanket to shake them, she paid no attention to Chrom, which was fine but he needed to get this over with eventually. "Ahem!"
This got the girl's attention "Oh, hello!" She smiled sheepishly at him.
"Relax we're all friends here." Chrom smiled as he took a seat next to the girl. "So how are you feeling?"
"Well judging by the injuries, not good." Said the girl. "But this food ain't half bad."
"I'll tell the chef that." Chrom laughed a bit. "My sister told me you have amnesia? Can you not remember a thing?"
"Well..." the girl got to thinking, which also hurt her but all she remembered was one thing. Her name. "I guess I remember my name."
"And what is it?" Chrom asked.
"Kjelle." The girl answered.
"Kjelle... that's an interesting name." Chrom said.
"Well I guess my mom was the one who gave it to me." Kjelle giggled at Chrom.
Chrom had to admit, Kjelle seemed like a nice girl. He couldn't imagine why anyone would attack her. But judging by his father's previous transgression, he did make a lot of enemies. Most of them being plegian and as a result, might've wanted to take their anger out on her.
"Well listen, if you don't have a place to stay, you can live with us in the palace." Chrom said.
"Oh no. I couldn't." Kjelle tried to reason. "I've already taken enough of your time. I can't be a burden on you."
"Nonsense, you're my sister." Chrom said. "And as such, you're staying here with house Lowell. No buts."
"But-" Kjelle started only for Chrom to interrupt her.
"I said no buts." Chrom laughed at the girl as he ruffled her hair.
"Thanks... bro." Kjelle smiled as she forced his hand off her head. This gave Chrom a good look at her right hand, which had the mark of the exalt.
"You have the mark." Smiled Chrom.
"Huh?"
"The mark of the exalt." Chrom explained further. "It's the one thing members of house Lowell have to prove their legitimacy. And that mark on your hand is proof enough."
"Geeze thanks." Kjelle smiled before giving Chrom a confused face. "But couldn't anyone just tattoo it."
"I think the blue hair and the fact that you look like me gives it away." Chrom said making Kjelle laugh a little.
"Alright, you've proven I'm your sister!" Kjelle laughed at him.
"Hey, any room for visitors?" the two turned to see Lissa and sully standing outside the room.
"Of course, come right inside." Kjelle said to the two visitors.
Lissa happily skipped to her new sister "hey there, I'm Lissa, hope you like pranks cause you're gonna be in for a load of them from now on."
"Um..." Kjelle said nervously.
"Lissa don't scare her away." Chrom smirked at his sister.
"How are your feeling kid." Sully knelt on the bed.
"I'm fine, but who are you?" Kjelle asked, though she looked strangely familiar. Almost a comforting vibe from this red head.
"This is sully, she's the one who saved your life." Chrom explained.
"If there's anything about horse riding you need to know, in your gal." Sully smirked at the girl.
"And if there's anything you need to know about how to pull and epic prank on our big bro, I'm the girl." Lissa smiled.
All Kjelle could do was laugh at her new found family. 'I guess this is my new life. What ever my old life was though.' She thought to herself.
Chrom meanwhile smiled at his newfound sister. Related or not, she needed a home and Chrom knew it was with him and his sisters. After all, from whatever she survived through, Chrom would make sure Kjelle would never go through something like that again.
(((0)))
It took a couple of days but soon enough, Kjelle was back on her feet. She's a quick healer, that's for sure as the girl was walking with Chrom to the castle training grounds. Chrom was very vague about his reasons for walking over there.
"So why are we heading to the training grounds brother?" Kjelle asked.
"Well there's one more test I'd like to put you through to prove that you are indeed of Lowell blood." Chrom said. "Not that it matters since You've already made a home here anyways."
Opening the door to the training grounds, the two walked in as Kjelle Chrom's retainer standing there with a very stern face.
"This right over here is Frederick." Chrom introduced the two.
"How do you do, princess?" Frederick bowed to his newest charge.
"Im fine, but Kjelle is good enough. I don't want you to refer to me as princess. Maybe as friend though." Kjelle said.
Chrom then spoke. "Anyways I brought you here for a special task. Through out my family, brave swordsmen we're able to wield a legendary sword called the Falchion." Chrom then unsheathed said sword and showed it off. "Forged with the tooth of the divine dragon, Naga, this sword is legendary amongst us ylisseans. Only those members of house Lowell can be considered worthy of wielding the sword. Unfortunately both Lissa and Emmeryn weren't deemed worthy by the sword, but I know you may be one of its masters." Chrom then looked over to Frederick. "Frederick, if you will."
"Yes milord." Frederick then got out a wooden log and held it in front of Kjelle.
"Go on Kjelle," Chrom handed his sword over to his sister. "Give it a good swing."
Kjelle then took the sword and held it tightly. Breath in deeply Kjelle made a yell "HYA!" As the Falchion slashed down to the log, splitting it clean in half.
Chrom beamed with excitement as he hugged Kjelle to her side and held her closely. "It seems we are indeed family! Even if you get your memories back, you'll still have a place in house Lowell." Chrom smiled at Kjelle.
"Thanks brother." Kjelle smiled.
Just then, Chrom noticed a certain redhead looking at them from outside the training grounds. Quickly turning her head, sully left not to ruin the moment. Turning to Kjelle, Chrom said "why don't you continue practicing with Falchion? I'll be right back."
Kjelle nodded as she began cutting more pieces of log with her brother's sword while making the loudest of grunts for no reason other than just cause.
Running outside the training grounds, Chrom caught up to sully with relative ease.
"Sully, wait up." Chrom said as he caught up to the knight.
"What do you need Chrom?" Sully asked nonchalantly.
"I just wanted to say thank you." Chrom said. "I mean had it not been for you, my little sister would've died, without me knowing her first."
Sully then smiled. "It's no big deal Chrom. You would've done the same thing for me."
"Well there is something I wanted to ask though." Chrom said as sully leaned in to hear him out. "I was wondering if you'd look out for her. Make sure she's alright?"
"You mean become her retainer?" Sully arched her eyes brow at Chrom.
"Well..." Chrom rubbed the back of his neck. "When you put it like that, yeah basically."
"Sure." Sully smiled. "I won't let you or Kjelle down."
"I know you won't." Chrom smiled back at his old friend before the two parted.
Life was good... for now at least.
That'a it for this chapter. Very solid idea to have the opening chapter of your fic set up the story. Here's hoping I did a good job. Now to write chapter 2. But before I leave off, I'd like to address that unlike tinted azure skies, while Robin is male, he won't be getting with Kjelle in this fic. Instead, he'll be getting with Anna because fire emblem needs more Robin x Anna fics, even if my favorite robin ships are robin x Say'ri or robin x Cordelia... I HAVE SPOKEN! Anyhow, hoped you enjoyed it and please leave a review.
