Big Time Masquerade Ball - A Big Time Rush Fanfiction…
A/N - So here is an idea I came up for a Big Time Rush Halloween themed fanfiction. It was going to be a one-shot but ended up being to long so it is now a multi-chapter one. This is also Kogan (Kendall/Logan) pairing/centered, so don't like don't read. Yes, this is my first attempt at a M/M fic as well as a Kogan fic, so please be nice, but I hope you enjoy.
This story is part of the Big Time Rush Halloween Story Challenge held by winterschild11 in the Halloween Challenge 2022 on the BTR's Writers' Support and Plot Adoption form.
Disclaimer: I do not own Big Time Rush it belongs to Kendall Schmidt, Logan Henderson, Carlos PenaVega, James Maslow (so proud of our boys!) Nickelodeon and Scott Fellows!
Warnings: This is a M/M story between Kendall/Logan, you have been warned, don't like the pairing don't read thanks.
Chapter 1
Halloween Plans
Apartment 2J is located in the Palmwoods hotel and was decorated in Halloween get-up. Fake spider webs hung around them while pumpkins of all sizes spilled out of the fireplace. It was the Knight family's favorite time. Mrs. Knight, Kendall, and Katie loved Halloween. One, getting to dress up; two, the candy; and three, just another chance to party. Halloween was fun for most people, but it was a big deal for the Knight family.
"Halloween already?"
The voice caused the three members to look up and see Carlos Garcia, Logan Mitchell, and James Diamond enters the room, still in PJs. Kendall chuckles as he sees his sleepy friends; they take in the surroundings to see how the place is decorated. Carlos, Logan, James, and Kendall were best friends. They were so close as best friends; they practically saw one another like family. So, when Kendall agreed to come to LA with a producer named Gustavo Roque to become a signer, he made the producer bring his friends and make them a signing group. As of now, the four formed a band called Big Time Rush, and they were on their way to topping the charts, all while still getting used to their new LA life compared to their old Minnesota life. It has been a crazy adventure so far, and this was their first Halloween at the Palmwoods, and they were excited about it. Halloweens in LA were supposed to be some of the craziest parties around, so the boys have heard anyway.
With a chuckle, Kendall smiles, "It's not Halloween yet, but in thirty days, it will be!"
"Dude, it's only October first; why are you so excited about the holiday? There's nothing much to it; it's one of the most nonsense holidays ever." Logan states as he shakes his head at the family.
"Pft, way to be a buzz kill, Loges. Halloween is cool." Kendall states with a smirk.
"You stole that line from a movie, didn't you?" Logan questions with a sigh as he eyes his friend.
Kendall laughs and throws some Halloween confetti at Logan, who coughs and waves it away. Carlos starts helping Mrs. Knight with the hanging ghost while James chills out on the orange couch and turns on the tv. Logan joins James, and the two are perfectly fine until Katie pops up behind them in a white sheet dressed as a ghost and shouting "boo" to scare the boys. It worked, for James and Logan both jumped a foot in the air, and Logan about had a heart attack while James caught himself and started laughing.
"KATIE!" Logan growled while seeing the young girl with a scowl, and he did not like being scared.
Laughing, Katie smirks, "Gotta lighten up, dude."
"So not cool. Why do you even like Halloween? Thought you would be too mature for it." Logan states as he raises an eyebrow at Katie.
He then receives a slap to the back of his head and glares at Katie, but she smirks more and says with a grin. "All the candy, duh, and being Hollywood will no doubt give me the best candy."
"Yeah, man, we need the candy! It's the one time of year Gustavo and Kelly are letting us have sugar!" Carlos states as he jumps onto the couch and sits between James and Logan. He adds, "Katie and I are gonna hit up every apartment in the Palmwoods, and I'm ready for it." He puts his helmet on and taps it twice as he and Katie cheer.
"Well, why do you two worry about begging for candy; I'm going to be the best dressed for the Halloween Ball and win the best costume contest." James grins as he pulls a mirror out and fixes his hair.
The others roll their eyes at James. Kendall says, "What are you going to the ball as?"
"That, my friend, is a surprise. I don't want anyone stealing my idea."
Kendall, Logan, and Carlos eye one another at James' statement and shrug. After that, Kendall returns to help his mother and sister with the decorations. Logan, James, and Carlos go about their morning routines, eating breakfast while discussing the Palmwoods Halloween Ball. According to the other residents that the boys have become friends with, Mr. Bitters, their hotel manager, holds a Halloween Ball every year; it's one of the most critical events in the hotel. Mr. Bitters typically has the party to try and bring people into the hotel, but usually, it ends up as a publicity stunt and an excellent time for the rest of the residents. The only reason the residents get to go is that he would have to hire people to act like they enjoy his party. Why would he pay more money when he has a residence he can use for free? But the residents didn't mind; it was a win-win for everyone. So this year, the Knight family and James, Logan, and Carlos were excited to attend a party.
"So, since it's a ball, does anyone have any dates lined up?" James questions as he eyes his friends with interest.
Carlos grins and states, "I'm going to ask one of the Jennifers! It's Halloween; I'm sure I have at least a shot." Carlos finishes as he leans back on the couch and sighs in happiness.
Katie laughs, "Good luck with that, and I just watched them reject you last week. It wasn't pretty." She states as she shakes her head at the energized boy; he has never given up asking them since they moved here.
"Whatever, at least I have a plan. Who are you taking, Kendall?" Carlos wonders as he raises an eyebrow at his blonde-haired friend, trying to get the subject off him.
Smiling, Kendall says, "I'm gonna ask the new girl Jo to be my date."
The three boys smirk and laugh. Carlos says, "Jo? Doesn't she have a boyfriend?"
Rolling his eyes, Kendall says, "So he isn't here. Which means I can so go after her. Right?"
Suddenly he felt Logan smack him on the back of the head. "You can't go after another guy's girl. That is wrong and will end badly for you in the long run."
Kendall sighs, suddenly sad, but to change the subject, he looks at Logan. "Oh yeah, who are you going to take to the ball? That crazy girl Camille your always hanging with?"
"She's not crazy once you get to know her!" Logan states as he sits up and shakes his head. "Besides, who I go with does not concern you."
"So….you don't have a date lined up then?"
Shrugging, Logan sighs, "Not yet, but I'm waiting to ask the right person."
"Right person?" James questions as he eyes Logan. "If you don't want to take Camille, who will you take? A Jenifer?"
"Can't sorry, Carlos called dibs on the Jennifers," Logan explains as he turns his attention to the tv in front of the.
"So, Carlos can't go with all three Jennifers - "James explains as Carlos cuts him off.
"- Aw, why not!?" Carlos questions as he pouts lightly while thinking.
Sighing, James replies with an eye roll, "Cause that would be weird…." He then looks to Logan and Kendall for confirmation. "...That would be weird, right?"
"Yes!" Kendall and Logan exclaimed together.
"Whatever," Carlos replies as he rolls his eye, this time at his friends; he smirks and eyes Logan. "Maybe Logan doesn't want to ask a girl out. Maybe he wants to ask a guy….to the ball instead." Carlos states as he sips his cup of water happily.
Kendall and James nearly jumped out of their seats as they looked at Logan and wondered if there was a loop. Carlos smirks and keeps drinking his water before setting it down. Logan only choked and went into a coughing fit as his friend's words processed in his mind. Was Carlos implying he was gay? It took a moment for his coughing fit to calm down, and it did; he eyed Carlos with a challenging look.
"What are you saying? That I'm not into girls." Logan demanded as he crossed his arms.
Carlos shrugged, "Makes sense. I mean, you never really had a girlfriend. You always stutter or strike out when you try to talk to any. We all thought you would ask Camille to the ball, but you're refusing without explanation…it all adds up, Logie."
Logan frowns at Carlos's statement, and he thinks and says. "So, maybe I don't want to go with Camille because, as Kendall said, she can be a bit crazy. And the Jennifers are rude as ever, so I would never ask them…I have my reasons, Carlos. That doesn't mean I swing for the other team!" Logan shouted a little too loud, making the other three jump at the volume.
Kendall smiles, patting Logan on the shoulder, "Relax, Loges, he is messing with you. But even if you did swing for guys, we would love you anyway. It's who you are."
"But I'm not - "
"Have you ever thought about it? Anything is possible. Carlos does make valid points." James states as he wages his finger and smiles at his friend.
After that, things go silent between the four, with Logan praying that the subject will be changed quickly. Thankfully for him, he didn't have to wait long for Mrs. Knight and Katie to come into the room with more decorations. The two asked if any of the boys wanted to help, and Logan jumped up right away to get away from his friends at the moment. Logan needed to process the conversation they just had, and the other three needed to start putting their plans into action on asking their selected girls out to the ball.
So that night, when things were finally all decorated, Logan went to his and Kendall's shared room and couldn't help but think about their conversation from earlier. Were his friends? Did he like boys instead of girls? Is that why he always struck out with girls? But if he liked guys, what did he find attractive…or more like…who did he find attractive. Those thoughts had been on Logan's mind until he fell into a deep slumber. He was so tired he didn't even hear Kendall come into the room and climb into his own bed. Yes, with how things were already going, Big Time Rush's first Halloween at the Palmwoods and in Hollywood was going to be interesting…
