"And, cut!"
Filming for the third day was finished, and so it was ready to be edited. Lincoln and his parents had watched the girls on set, but after it was all over, the white-haired boy knew exactly what was coming. He felt a little ill, but he felt like he did what he had to, and hopefully not out of spite. In a way, he might have pulled the plug on his own dream as well, possibly a result of his sisters' accomplishments getting to him and finally sending him over the edge.
"That's all, you did great!" said Don Lee. And then Bill Buck approached the Loud family.
"Good job," he said. "But this might come to you as a bombshell." With the exception of Lincoln, the Loud family looked a bit puzzled. "I'm afraid..." Bill went on. "I'm afraid we will not be using the footage for the upcoming Ace Savvy film after all." While the parents were simply surprised, the Loud girls looked like they had each been stung by wasps. Lincoln hugged his mother around her waist, knowing that this was because he had talked to Bill Buck moments before the third day's shooting.
"Mr. Lee said you wanted to talk to me," said Bill Buck. "Is that right?"
"Yes," said Lincoln.
"Are you okay, son? You sound upset." Lincoln sniffled.
"I-I am..."
"What's wrong?"
"Mr. Buck... ... Bill... I want to... revoke the use of the Full House Gang."
"Lincoln?!"
"It's a long story," Lincoln said, on the verge of crying again. "Mr. Lee can tell you."
"Is it about that heist you pulled at the con?" asked Bill.
"Partially," choked Lincoln. "The other part... I-I just feel like my hard work was never recognized while my sisters just keep stepping in and..." It was terribly hard for Lincoln not to cry and he couldn't have felt more embarrassed to cry in front of one of his biggest heroes. But Bill knelt down to his level and put his hand on Lincoln's shoulder.
"It's okay, son," said Bill. Lincoln did shed a few tears and then wiped his nose with his sleeve.
"I just feel like my sisters are exploiting this opportunity for their own gain and... they'll just continue to look down on me... like I don't even exist. They're portraying my characters... and this is the thanks I get... Nothing."
"I see," said Bill. "So... tell me what you want to do with your characters. You did win that contest to have them featured in that comic, so by technicality, they still belong to you."
"Well... At the same time... I don't want my sisters to feel that they wasted their time." Bill pondered for a minute, scratching his chin.
"Ah-ha!" he suddenly said. "Since the Full House Gang's cameo was for the post-credits scene, how about instead of that, we have another comic book that features them instead? After that, the Full House Gang characters will no longer be used as per your request."
"So... the footage?" inquired Lincoln.
"It can be used to promote the comic book," Bill answered. After a few seconds, Lincoln agreed.
"Fair enough," he said. "And... thank you... for respecting my wishes."
"You're most welcome," said Bill, as the two shook hands. "I certainly don't want to make one of my biggest fans feel uncomfortable."
"WHADDYA MEAN WE'RE NOT GONNA BE IN THAT MOVIE?!" shrieked Lola, on the verge of one of her famous temper tantrums.
"At ease, true believers," said Don Lee.
"Well, I literally don't believe THIS!" said Lori.
"You're still getting paid, you know," said the director. "There's just been a last-minute change of plans, but don't worry! We'll put the footage to good use."
"I refuse to accept this!" snarled Lola.
"Lola, please," said Rita, but Lola let out a wail and stomped out of the studio. The rest of the Loud sisters followed.
"Oh dear," said Lynn Sr.
"We're sorry about that," said Rita.
"Don't worry about it," said Lee.
"That said, is there any reason for... this?" asked the Loud father.
"Well, in case you didn't know, the Full House Gang characters were created by your son," said Bill Buck. "He just decided that they should stick to being fan fiction only, so we reached a compromise. Your daughters will help promote my next comic book instead!"
"I suppose that's better than nothing," said Lynn Sr., scratching the back of his head.
"As for the rest," said Don Lee. "I strongly suggest you and your son should talk this one out. If there's a problem, you'll have to work together to solve it... just like superheroes do!" He then addressed Lincoln one last time. "Good luck to you, Lincoln." They shook hands, but Lincoln only partially smiled. "You have the makings of a true believer, I know it. Ace-celsior!"
The ride back to the hotel that the Louds had been staying at the past three nights was obviously silent. To play it safe, Lincoln was in the front seat, while Lynn Sr. was in one of the back seats with the intention to keep an eye on the other Loud kids, who were very sour, with the exception of Lily, though she too stayed quiet. After three days of filming, they felt crushed and betrayed. They weren't going to be on the silver screen after all. Despite that they were only to have cameo roles due to the film already far in production, they still believed they would be noticed and become famous, but something or someone called it off. Could it have been either Bill Buck or Don Lee, either of whom decided that their acting didn't meet film standards? But it wasn't long before they connected the dots, remembering that it was their brother who originally came up with the Full House Gang to begin with, which meant that he owned their characters... and they weren't about to let even their only brother own them.
"LINCOLN!" they all shouted at once, with the exception of Lucy and Lily. The Loud parents got nervous looks on their faces, knowing that their daughters figured it out on their own, but it was time for them to step up and take charge.
"Girls!" Rita shouted back. "Not. Now. I'm trying to drive." Lincoln trembled in the front seat. He knew why he did what he did, but it was not an easy decision to make, knowing that his sisters were liable to gang up on him. Still, he was tired of being under their thumb and knew that one of the days, he had to stand his ground and face them.
"Stinkin'!" said Lynn Jr. in a fit of frustration.
"Junior!" her father snapped. "Don't call him that!"
"I'll call him whatever I want!" she retorted.
"Daddy, that jerk ruined our movie careers!" shouted Lola.
"We went to all this trouble for Lincoln, and he literally stabbed us in the back!" said Lori, continuing Lori's argument. The Loud sisters began to talk at once, with Lynn Sr. trying to tell them to pipe down.
"QUIET!" Rita eventually bellowed. This surprisingly worked. "Not one word from any of you until we get back to the hotel! And even then, we're going to have a talk, so this is all going to have to wait." Lincoln silently prayed that this talk meant saving him from any wrath his sisters would wreak upon him. His parents had an inkling as to what his ulterior motive was for effectively cancelling the Full House Gang's involvement with the Ace Savvy series, knowing how passionate their only son was about the comics.
After all, he is the family's man with a plan, right?
