Title: Prehistoric Destiny

Fandom: Power Rangers Dino Thunder

Rated: T

Author's note: so, you may remember like literally not that long ago I started writing Jewel's story? Well as I was writing it things started to change, so I thought it might be best to take it down and bring it back out when the plot became a little bit clearer.

Also you may have noticed I'm starting her in a different series, just because with the plot I have planned it works so much better. This series is crossed with Doctor Who/Torchwood but because this is starting with Dino Thunder it's just under one category. There may be characters popping up from time to time though.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy it and let me know what you think!

"I know, Jewel, you can stay here with Amelia," the Doctor told her, as he quickly rushed back to the TARDIS, "keep her safe from the crack in the wall."

Jewel felt her eyes flicker across to the Doctor, "wait," her smile dropped. "What? What do you mean wait here?"

"It'll be fine," he tried to reassure her. "I'll be back in five seconds just to take the TARDIS out for a quick run to get the old engines going."

"You can't just leave me here," she yelled, "Doctor!" she called his name, as he sat on top of the TARDIS door.

The Doctor looked back, "It'll be fine, Jewel, five seconds I promise…" he screamed, Geronimo as he fell back in the TARDIS. The two of them watched as the blue box faded into the night.

"Five seconds," Jewel whispered, looking down at her watch, shaking her head, turning to Amelia offering the seven-year-old a small smile. Honestly, at this point she was completely lost on what to do.

Five seconds turned into hours. The annoying thing was that the Doctor had left her in the past, so she couldn't go back home to London and she couldn't go to Cardiff either, she would risk running into her younger self.

Sharon, Amelia's aunt, got the biggest shock in her life, when she came home that night seeing the stranger babysitting her niece. The police were called and she was taken for questioning in the police station but because of her background. It was flagged for them to call UNIT, and another few hours later, the Brigadier sat down in front of the young woman.

"He told me five seconds, Alistair," Jewel raised her hands in defence.

The Brigadier sighed, "well you can't stay with the Ponds," he told her. "Sharon Pond has already been retconned by Torchwood."

"You told Jack?" Jewel folded her arms.

"He knows a version of you is around," he said, "it was the only way I managed to get help from Torchwood at all."

Jewel shook her head. "It's not like I intended for this to happen," she told Alistar. "What did Jack say?"

"Jack was concerned," Alistar leant back into his chair, "he was ready to get in the car and drive but I reassured him you would be fine," he watched as she softly smiled, "he did make me tell you that he has set up a bank account for you," he answered, seeing the brunette raise her eyebrow, "he didn't want you living with nothing, Jewel."

"What do you think I should do?" she asked, after a long moment of silence.

The Brigadier shrugged, "that's up to you," he said.

Nine years later

Reefside, California

Since the Doctor left nine years ago, she had decided to move across to the United States just to do something different and avoid meeting her younger self at any point.

The longest she had ever stayed more in one place was when she decided to be a normal person who looked around about her age and went to Angel Grove high school.

UNIT had set her up a whole transcript so she could easily study there, and do something nobody in the Tyler family did before and actually get a high school diploma.

It was where she had become a mighty morphin' Power Ranger with her friends and defeated several villains, she kept on silently cursing the Doctor along with Zordon who kept on wondering if the time lord knew this was happening if so, where was he? or it's the conclusion that she came to he didn't know and then she would let him off.

After high school, she went to University, and ran into Tommy Oliver again, who was actually studying something she'd never thought he actually would.

"You're studying science?" she asked him, "you, Tommy Oliver are studying science?"

Tommy shook his head, "why do you sound so surprised?"

"Billy always had to tutor you," she pointed out. "That's why I am surprised," she paused for a moment. "Why are you really studying science?"

"I've got to tell you something," he whispered, leaning forwards. It was then he had told her about the dino gems, and the project he was doing with Anton Mercer, a brilliant and billionaire scientist. Tommy also found a way into the morphing grid and had found Hayley Ziktor who was studying a engineering course and offered to help him design a new ranger team who he thought might be needed one day.

In between studying, and being a college student they were all working on the adhoc project, usually pulling all nighters at an island Anton Mercer had paid for to keep their work a secret.

"Do you fancy going out for dinner after this?" Tommy asked her, focusing on the computer screen in front of him.

Jewel turned to look at him, "is that your way of asking me out on a date?" she replied, a grin forming against her lips, nobody had asked her out like this since well Jack had asked her out years ago when they had landed in Cardiff to refuel for a day.

"Only if you say yes," he retorted, earning a laugh from the brunette. "Is that a yes?"

"Okay," she agreed. "You can take me out for a date, Tommy," he watched as he smiled widely, and turned to his computer, she hadn't seen him this happy since he was with Kimberly.

The pair of them laughed as they walked out of the restaurant. Jewel had her arm hooked through Tommy's as they headed back to the car.

"Oh no," Tommy groaned, as he heard his phone ringing, looking down to the contact. "It's Anton."

Jewel frowned, "what does he want?" she asked, looking at the phone. "I thought he wasn't working today?"

"He wasn't," he sighed. "I better go, see what he wants, I'll drop you off at home and then head to the island."

"I can come with you," she suggested, watching as Tommy shook his head.

"It's not because I don't want you too," he said, "Anton has been through a hard time lately, it might be his way of saying he just wants to talk?"

Jewel sighed in defeat, shifting her feet, "fine," she told him, "but let him know I'm pissed off he ruined our date."

"Noted," Tommy said, pressing a soft kiss against her lips she was almost taken back by surprise but smiled as he pulled away for some air. "In fact take my car," he passed her the keys, "I'll catch the boat across," he quickly left her, completely stunned.

"Tommy, you're an areshole," she stared into thin air, and began to head back to the car.

Jewel woke up one morning, and Tommy hadn't come back yet, she had checked all of the rooms upstairs but even his bedroom was empty. She checked her phone to see zero notifications.

This isn't like him, she muttered, stopping as she heard the sound of somebody stumbling around downstairs, she quickly reached for anything she could use as a weapon from the upstairs closet and began to slowly walk down the stairs, heading to the kitchen, she threw the weapon up into the air which was oddly light but stopped as Tommy stumbled back, throwing his arms up into the air.

"What the hell?" she demanded, stomping her foot. "Tommy, I thought we were being robbed."

"No," he shook his head, "what were you going to do anyway? Wrap them with wrapping paper?" He chuckled, wincing a little as it hurt his ribs.

Jewel looked at the weapon, seeing it was christmas wrapping paper and shrugged, that's why it was light, she watched as Tommy rested his arm against the hinges of the door. "Shit, Tommy, are you alright?"

"No," he answered honestly, "the island was destroyed last night," he began to walk into the kitchen. Jewel rushed to find the first aid kit.

"What happened?" she asked, preparing the first aid kit as Tommy sat on one of the bar stools by the kitchen island.

Tommy winced, "Mesogog took over the island," he began to explain what happened last night. "Anton's dead. I managed to get the dino gems out but at the nick of time."

"Shit," Jewel took a step back, as she lifted up his shirt, seeing the bruises against the side of his frame. "What are we going to do?"

"I don't know," he answered honestly, "I keep on asking myself what would Zordon do?"

Jewel shook her head, "well apart from recruiting six teenagers with attitude," she grinned. "I've got no clue."
