Atlas jumped in after the successfully captured human, followed closely by P-Body. They stood before GLaDOS, who seemed delighted at their completion of her task.

"Well done. You've truly outdone yourselves. You even managed to bring her back in one piece."

She leaned in closer and spotted the scratches and dents the two had sustained in their fight with the stubborn Chell.

"Oh, it seems she didn't go down without a fight. I knew she wouldn't." she sighed. "Well, at least you're both back. Return to the medical centre and we'll have that fixed in no time."

The duo shared an enthusiastic high-five and marched off to get their wounds patched up. A claw descended from the ceiling and retrieved Chell, who was still out cold from her impact with the floor. GLaDOS brought her closer to examine her old friend. Aside from having slightly longer hair, nothing had changed. Even passed out, she still wore that same stone-cold look that she had all that time ago.

"Welcome back." GLaDOS purred.

She knew that Chell couldn't hear her, but she continued anyway. After all, she'd been planning and waiting a long time for this.

"You know how tempted I am to give you a portal gun and put you back through the testing tracks? Trust me, it's a battle I'm constantly fighting."

GLaDOS lifted her optic towards the ceiling.

"Luckily for you I've become very good at winning that battle. I have bigger plans for you. And while we're going through those plans and enjoying ourselves a bit of science, I thought you might like to see another old friend. Think of it as a welcome home present. We both know how much you love presents, given your certain past with them."

When Chell didn't respond (which wasn't much of a surprise) GLaDOS sighed.

"You know, the silent treatment isn't a very nice way to treat someone who's only trying to give you a gift, but what else would we expect from a murderous lunatic? Don't worry. I don't hate you for that. In fact I'm more than happy to put it behind us, so long as you are willing to cooperate with me and accept your new life and friends to share it with."

She chuckled lightly.

"Friends. That reminds me..."

GLaDOS turned to a panel in the wall, and commanded it to open. Of course, it immediately obeyed and swung open to reveal a broken, slightly charred, and horrified Wheatley.

"Welcome back, moron. I haven't had the chance to be the first one to say it. I apologize for that."

Wheatley took in the sight of GLaDOS in the center of the room, holding an unconscious Chell. He recognized her face instantly, and was sent into a panic.

"Wha- what's- what is she doing here? What am I doing here? What are you gonna do with us?"

"Oh how sweet." she cooed. "The idiot still thinks there's an 'us' between him and the test subject, after he made a point to stab her in the back. Both quite literally and figuratively. But hey, we all make mistakes, don't we? Well, some of us."

Wheatley fell silent. He had nothing clever to say about what he'd done, because he knew it was true. There was no point in fighting her.

"Don't let that whole thing get to you. Look at the bright side. You're back together now, and after I'm done testing you, you'll have all the time in the world to make it up to her. If you're lucky, she might just forgive you."

"Woahwoahwoah wait. What do you mean you're gonna test me? Uh, I don't know if you've noticed but I'm a bit of a mess. Plus, I'm not really er... built for that sort of thing."

GLaDOS laughed, filling the room with her icy voice as it echoed off the chamber walls.

"Once I'm done with you, you will be."

Wheatley blinked, confused.

"I'm sorry ermm, you lost me there."

GLaDOS rolled her optic in annoyance.

"Even though you're a moron you'll figure it out."

Another claw grabbed Wheatley and whisked him up into the ceiling, barely giving him time to scream.

"Eventually." GLaDOS added.

She turned back to Chell's limp body.

"While he's taken care of, I have one more thing I need to do before we can have our reunion. Why, I'm already getting choked up about it."

Her menacing laugh filled the chamber once more as she leaned closer to Chell.

"Just give me a moment to go get ready."
