Weiwei had lost count on the number of times she had pinched herself in the past couple of days. She still could not quite wrap her head around Senior Xiao Nai; the most sought out guy on campus is her soulmate and in-game husband. It seemed too good to be true and every evening when she went to spend time with him while he was cooped up for observation. Xiao Nai and his roommates had been just as interesting to be around offline as they were online. She had to smile as she remembered the fun of introducing herself as Luwei Weiwei to them. It was thanks to her quick reflexes that her and Xiao Nai's breakfast didn't land on the floor and then when her other half broke the news that they happened to be soulmates as well Weiwei worried that the other three men might need a doctor of their own when she saw their knees buckle. Needless to say she took that as her queue to quickly flee the room and return to her dorms.
The next few days Weiwei's time was taken up by going to class and then making a mad dash to her dorm to pick up any studying material and anything else that she might need while spending time with her soulmate in the hospital. She kinda felt bad being vague with her roommates at where she had been disappearing to but she wasn't ready to admit that she had a soulmate to them let alone the identity of said soulmate. She could just imagine their reaction and the shouting that would soon follow. No, she would have to break the news somewhere when they could not immediately react. She planned to discuss it with Xiao Nai later this evening. Just as soon as she got her studying done she would be catching the bus to the hospital. He would come up with something that would cause their brains to short circuit just long enough for them to not cause a scene. Telling them in the dorm would not work there is no way that they would believe her if she just bluntly said it. Sighing Weiwei shook her head and would leave that for this evening she had to concentrate on studying now.
With the ringing of the dorm landline took Weiwei's attention and since she was the closest she took the initiative to answer the phone. It was a good thing too because if one of the others it would have caused more questions than what she knew she was about to be bombarded with. Getting a call from the publicity department of her favorite video game would do that. After scheduling a follow up call for Monday Weiwei got online to see if she could reach one of Xiao Nai's brothers in arms. Weiwei knew the others brought their laptops to deal with the boredom in the hospital and when they were not coding they were playing. She did not expect for her online husband to message her the moment she logged in. 'Weiwei.'
'You are supposed to be resting and not playing video games.' Weiwei scolded before she attempted to inform him of the call she had from Feng Teng Enterprises. Xiao Nai told her that he had been released from the hospital and was at the dorm resting, not playing. He then asked Weiwei to meet him for lunch tomorrow after her final, of course. Weiwei nervously agreed to a time and place to meet before quickly logging out. She knew she was being silly and he had already met her and saw her normal form of dressing but she wanted to look good on their first dare she say it date. Rushing to her closet she looked to see what she had that she could wear but nothing seemed nice enough for this meeting. Sighing, she turned to her roommates and told them that she needed new clothes for a meeting. Her roommates looked at Weiwei like she was kidnapped and being impersonated by someone else.
"I thought I'd never see the day that our classmate Weiwei would willingly go to shop for clothes." Xiao Ling teased, causing the other two girls to snicker.
Weiwei just rolled her eyes at her roommates before grabbing her purse and walking towards the door. "Do you want to come help or not?"
The others wasted no time following their beautiful roommate. They also wasted no time teasing her as they followed her to the little shopping district that was right outside of the campus and into the clothing boutique that they preferred to shop at. Each of the roommates took turns trying to get Weiwei to try on something that would highlight her figure, each of them pulling items that they knew it was less likely for Weiwei to wear. After the twelfth outfit Weiwei compromised to try one outfit that was more their tastes but afterwards they had to be serious in helping her find something presentable. The three girls nodded and huddled together discussing which two outfits to pick, occasionally bickering before Sisi and Xiao Ling broke off to grab the outfits. Erxi just grinned mischiefly and walked over to the slightly frustrated beauty to wait for the other two to return to where Weiwei was standing. Sisi returned first with a halter neckline sundress in a bright cherry red with matching high heels and pushed Weiwei into the dressing room for her to change.
Weiwei just looked at the outfit and grumbled. 'How would someone wear a bra with this?' Weiwei thought as she scowled at the dress. She temporarily closed her eyes and steeled her nerves by taking a deep breath and changed into the dress. She looked at herself in the mirror and frowned at her bra straps that were visible. She was not about to step out of this stall with those hanging out. She glared at her reflection as she wove her arms out of the straps before tucking them under the dress grumbling the whole time. Why would they insist on her trying something like this on? They know that she doesn't like to show too much skin. The fact that she would have to wear a strapless bra was already an automatic 'No' on the dress and the low cut of the front just sealed the deal. Weiwei unconsciously growled at her roommates before she stepped out of the dressing room and did a little turn for her roommates. "You know I will never wear something like this, right?" Weiwei frowned and crossed her arms to cover her cleavage.
"That figure of your's is wasted on the likes of you." Xiao Ling retorted as she stepped forward to grab Weiwei's arms to put them at her side. "Honestly, if I had your body I would flaunt it." The beauty just rolled her eyes and stuck her tongue out at her older roommate. Shaking her head at Weiwei's rare bit of immaturity, Xiao Ling just gave Weiwei a different outfit to try on. A deep crimson tea length dress with a boatneck collar and slightly puffed capped sleeves going down to her elbows. With the exception of the lovely color the dress was actually very modest in its style.
Weiwei smiled at the choice that was handed to her and rushed to the dressing room to change. The dress was perfect and made her pale skin glow and emphasized the natural rosiness of her lips. She wasted no time to show her roommates. Each of them looked at her with awe while the last dress made Weiwei look like a siren ready to lure unsuspecting men to their demise. This one made her look like she was royalty, so graceful and demure. Weiwei just held up the strappy heels that they gave her to try on and stated that they were impractical before going to the shoe section to find something much more sensible. She settled on a pair of nude espadrilles with a wedge and a buckle at the ankle. Xiao Ling was ready to defend her and the other's choice of footwear but really didn't have a foot to stand in because Weiwei had actually chosen something that would work for multiple outfits and were shockingly not frumpy. Sighing in defeat Xiao Ling tried to pester more about the supposed meeting but Weiwei was firm in not saying a single thing. She would just hope that Weiwei would crack after it tomorrow.
The next morning Weiwei took particular care in her appearance as she dressed for the day. It wasn't anything special besides a nice lip gloss and for once letting her hair all the way down but those simple things caused people to turn and take a second look at her as she and her roommates walked through campus. Weiwei ignored the whispers and went about getting to her classroom for her final. Her nerves were already in a bundle for this afternoon as it was. She did her best to ignore everything and go through the final just like every other one she had ever done. Luckily the test was laughably easy for her due to the tips her beloved gave her as she studied in his hospital room the past week. Taking a few moments to go over her answers before she got up and turned the blasted thing in. She turned her test form in and was out the door in a hurry. She had promised Xiao Nai to meet him at the north gate and she was impatient to see his reaction to her dressed up.
She had barely gotten to the bridge when she saw her soulmate standing under a large oak tree. Weiwei had to smile; it was very similar to how they met ingame. Which she was guessing is why Xiao Nai wanted to meet her here to begin with. A smile blossomed on her face when their eyes briefly met before she rushed down to meet him. "Xiao Nai" she beamed as she stopped in front of him.
"Weiwei" he breathed as he admired her appearance. His gaze was piercing, causing her cheeks to blossom. His gaze never left her approaching form as he walked up the small hill to meet her half way. The handsome senior grasped one of Weiwei's hands before turning it over and placing a soft kiss on her palm. "Are you ready to go meet Auntie?" He asked.
Weiwei's breath lodged in her throat at the electrifying feeling that came from his gesture. She briefly wondered how it would feel when they finally kissed on the lips? So far the small pecks on her forehead and hand felt like fireworks bursting under her skin. She attempted to quickly calm herself before answering with a small nod. Barely registering the meaning of his words. As the two walked hand in hand to the restaurant they enjoyed the quiet comfort of each other's presence.
Auntie Jun's restaurant was by the professor's neighborhood which would explain why none of the student body really visited the place. The restaurant was bright and vibrant with natural wood accents that Weiwei admired as they wandered into the restaurant to Xiao Nai's favorite table by the kitchen door. His 'Auntie' must have sensed Xiao Nai's arrival because the moment he pulled out a chair for Weiwei, Auntie came out with a large bowl of soup and sat it down at their table. Xiao Nai smiled at the older woman and introduced the two using his hand to signal Auntie just who Weiwei was. After seeing the sign the Auntie beamed at Weiwei before giving her a tight hug and rushing back into the kitchen.
Weiwei looked at Xiao Nai for an explanation and he told her how years ago when Auntie first saw the words on his hand the two of them came up with a signal for who Weiwei was so that way when they were introduced Auntie would know right away that Weiwei was the one he had been waiting to meet. The crimson clad beauty gave a soft smile at the explanation. She could imagine a young Xiao Nai sitting at one of the tables with a pen in hand, writing something to her on his palm.
The meal was mostly a quiet affair. Both were just in their own happy little world being in each other's presence. It wasn't until Xiao Nai's phone rang did the two break the silence. While his roommates were reminding him of the final basketball game, Weiwei remembered the call that she received the day before. The moment he got off the phone she brought up the call that she got the day before.
Keeping his face neutral Xiao Nai explained about how his company was in the talks with creating the sequel so his name needed to not be on the credit. Weiwei nodded in understanding and then asked if they needed to meet up with the others now. To which Xiao Nai nodded and both left the restaurant and the handsome man led his beloved to his home so they could grab his bike. If they had a little more time Xiao Nai would have given her a tour of his home but they both knew if they took too long another call asking where they were would happen. The senior swiftly mounted his bike and held it steady so Weiwei could take her seat on the storage rack. He told her to hold on as he took off down the roads. Weiwei was still a little nervous holding onto him; she had never had this close of contact with anyone of the opposite sex besides her beloved father. She briefly wondered if she was being too forward holding onto his shirt like she was.
The ride through campus garnered more attention then what she would have normally liked but Weiwei didn't want to be anywhere else but next to the one person who understood her better than anyone else she knew. All too soon they had reached the gymnasium and after a quick dismount and parking of the bicycle the two walked into the building hand in hand with a secret smile gracing both of their lips.
When the female population saw Xiao Nai enter the gym they went to flock him until they noticed that he was not alone and he was holding someone's hand. It took a few minutes to identify the person who somehow was blessed enough to be able to hold the great master's hand. It was the runner up to the campus wide beauty contest and the one who was voted most likely to cheat on their boyfriend, Bei Weiwei. Why her? The female population laminated. If it was the Campus Belle, they would understand but it was just the runner up. Admittedly, Bei Weiwei looked a lot prettier than the pouting Campus Belle who was rushing out of the stands and through the door in record time. However the man in the center of the attention and the lady with him paid them no heed as she pointed to where their friends were seated . The couple wasted no time making their way over to the shock of the three women and a very confused boyfriend of one of the women.
When Xiao Nai and Weiwei made it to where the others were sitting Weiwei started to introduce the people "Da Zhong I believe you know, but next to him is Xiao Ling his girlfriend, Tian Sisi, and Zhao Erxi. My three roommates." She pointed at each one of them with the person giving an awkward wave. "And as you know this is Xiao Nai, my…" her sentence hung for a few moments as she was trying to explain what their relationship was. She never gave any thought as to the title he would be to the outside world. He was hers just like she was his.
Sensing Weiwei's being at a list of what to call their relationship Xiao Nai cheekily cut in "I'm Weiwei's." Causing the red clad beauty's eyes to narrow as she looked over to him. To which he just raised one of his eyebrows and gave a cocky smirk challenging her to deny it. His smirk widened when the look Weiwei gave him promised retribution at a later time. He next leaned in close to her ear and whispered to let them stew on it until after you get back to the dorm and gave her a small kiss on the cheek before walking off to the locker room with Da Zhong following in his wake.
As the two seniors left, the girls turned to Weiwei looking for an explanation. Weiwei sighed and informed them to watch the game and she would tell them when they got back to the dorm. None of Weiwei's roommates appreciated it but complied with little protest. As the night went on and half time hit Xiao Nai returned to his beautiful soulmate and her roommates to watch the game. The two were in a casual discussion on how their team was going. Choosing to ignore the onlookers as they took pictures and video of the two of them. They could care less what the masses thought. The red clad beauty's roommates looked on in awe as the two talked with each other like nothing else mattered until finally the game ended with their department's team winning the match. As people were getting out of their chairs; Weiwei asked her roommates to wait for her as she said 'hi' to the team.
After the game the other girls followed Weiwei out of the gym and in the direction to their dorm. She could hear them whispering frantically trying to make heads or tails out of what just happened. She took a deep breath and told them again that she would explain everything in detail when they reached their room. She threw in a quick jab about the slower they'd walk the longer it took for them to find out. Erxi and the others could not take that and promptly grabbed Weiwei by the forearms and rushed to their dorms. As soon as the door closed Xiao Ling all but pushed Weiwei into a bed and demanded for her to talk.
Smiling Weiwei started her narrative. "The day was bright and cheerful without a cloud in the sky. I was sitting in my room when."
"Get on with it!" the other girls demanded.
Weiwei just tisked and said "If you want to find out you need to hear the whole story. Now where was I? Oh yes, I was sitting in my room coloring in a coloring book my papa got me when all of a sudden I saw some funny red marks on my arm. Naturally being a small girl of four; I had no idea what it was. So I went and asked my papa. He said nothing but took out his pen and wrote something right next to the red marks. Confused, I asked my mom and she explained to me that the red marks were words and then started yelling at my papa."
"Wait, you're telling us that…" Sisi exclaimed.
Nodding Weiwei continued her story. "My mother read out the red words and explained what they meant but then she also told me what papa wrote. No private details until after college." she gave a small chuckle. "Over the years my mystery person and I wrote back and forth to each other coming to the day that my laptop broke. I had a PK battle scheduled and I would not be able to fix my computer in time. Apparently Xiao Nai recononized who I was because of my habit of scratching a smiley face on my thumb for good luck. A few days later I got a message in the game from the top player on the server asking for my hand in marriage. While I was flattered I already had someone and was about to tell him that when I noticed a note on my hand asking for me to not say no. He found me but he still didn't know who I was. As the months went by I started crossing paths with Xiao Nai more which was odd. Everything came to it's peak earlier this week when he didn't show for an important battle and wasn't answering my notes." she turned her head to gather herself.
"Then all of a sudden I got a note in a strange handwriting to come to the hospital. When I arrived I found out that the doctor was the one who did the request because my soulmate was in a car crash and from what he said that soulmates in close proximity helps heal faster. Imagine my shock when I nearly walked right into Professor Xiao."
The girls all looked at Weiwei in shock. Opening and closing multiple times until Xiao Ling exclaimed "That's where you've been going all week."
Smiling, Weiwei just said "Guilty."
"What now?" Sisi demanded.
Weiwei hemmed and hawed for a few moments and said "Well, papa said no private details until college and Xiao Nai has now graduated." smirking at the end of her sentence.
