Chapter 3: The Sword Saint
Felt: "誰か！" (Someone!)
Felt: "誰！誰かここにいますか？" (Anyone! Is anyone here?!)
the windows and doors of all the houses close around her, no one paying her any mind.
Gienah: "Why does everyone hate you?"
Felt: "くそ！お願い...お願い、誰か...誰か助けて!" (Damn it! Please... Please, someone... Someone help!)
Gienah: "Wait!"
suddenly, the girl bumps into a red haired man.
Red Haired Man: "結構。手伝うよ。" (Very well. I'll help.)
Gienah: "Reinhardt?!"
((Scene Change))
Subaru: "ラインハルト？" (Reinhardt?)
Reinhardt: "そうですよね、スバル。また会いました。遅れてすみません。黒髪、黒服、北国ならではの刀身。これらの特徴に間違いはありません。あなたは腸ハンターです。" (That's right, Subaru. We meet again. Sorry I'm late. Black hair, Black clothes, and a blade unique to northern provinces. There is no mistaking these characteristics. You are the Bowel Hunter.)
Subaru: "なんという悪しきあだ名!?" (What kind of evil nickname is that?!)
Reinhardt: "それは彼女の独特の殺戮スタイルに由来する。王都でも危険人物としてその名を知られる。" (It was derived from her unique killing style. Her name is known even in the capital as a dangerous individual.)
Elsa: "ラインハルト…はい、剣聖の血統に生まれた騎士の中の騎士ですよね？すべての対戦相手がとても楽しそうです。" (Reinhardt... Yes, a knight among knights, born to the Sword Saint's line, correct? How remarkable to have all my opponents be so much fun!)
Reinhardt: "お聞きしたいことがたくさんあります。降伏することを強くお勧めします。" (There are many things I'd like to ask you. I strongly suggest you surrender.)
Elsa: "飢えた捕食者がそのような選択、ジューシーな獲物に抵抗することを期待していますか?" (You expect a starving predator to resist such choice, juicy prey?)
Reinhardt: "スバル、ちょっと下がって。" (Subaru, stand back a bit.)
he points at the Half-elf.
Reinhardt: "もしあなたが彼女の隣に立ってくれたら、私は感謝します。" (If you'd stand next to her, I'd appreciate it.)
Subaru: "了解しました。あの女は怪物みたいだから油断は禁物。" (You got it. That woman is like a monster, so don't let your guard down.)
he says while walking towards the half-elf.
Reinhardt: "運が良ければ、モンスターの狩猟が私の専門です。" (As luck would have it, hunting monsters happens to be my specialty.)
Subaru: "老人ロムはまだ生きていますか？" (Old Man Rom is still alive?)
Half-elf: "彼はまだ森から出ていません。私は今彼を癒さなければなりません。" (He's not out of the woods yet. I have to heal him now.)
Subaru: "あなたは本当にしたいですか？彼はあなたの記章を盗んだギャングの一員です。" (You really want to? He's part of the gang that stole your Insignia.)
Half-elf: "それがまさにその理由です。彼が回復する必要があるので、彼は私に情報を提供して恩返しをします。彼は自分の命を救ってくれた人に嘘をつきませんでした。これは私自身のためでもあります。" (That's exactly why. I need him to recover so he'll repay the favor by giving me information. He wouldn't lie to one who saved his life. This is just as much for my own sake.)
the Bowel Hunter dashes with inhumane speed towards the Sword Saint.
Reinhardt: "女性に暴力を振るうのはやめた方がいい..." (I would rather not use violence on a woman...)
he steps on the floor with strength enough to destroy it, which pushes the hunter backwards, then he kicks her to his left, making her fly across the floor.
Elsa: "噂通りの君…いや、もっと上手いよ。" (You're just as the rumors say... No, you're even better.)
Reinhardt: "あなたの期待に応えられるかどうかはわかりません。" (I'm not sure I'll meet your expectations.)
Elsa: "その剣を腰に当てるつもりじゃないの？その伝説の切れ味をぜひ体感していただきたいです。" (Aren't you going to use that sword at your hip. I'd love to experience its legendary sharpness.)
Reinhardt: "この剣は必要な時だけ抜くことができる。鞘から出ていないということは、今がその時代ではないということです。" (This sword can only be drawn when it is needed. The fact that it hasn't left its sheath, means this isn't one of those times.)
Elsa: "私は過小評価されていると信じています。" (I do believe I've been underestimated.)
Reinhardt: "それは私にとっても動揺する判断です。したがって、代わりにこれをお引き受けします。" (It's an upsetting judgement for me, as well. Therefore, I will take you on with this instead.)
the sword saint walks towards a sword on the ground, and grabs it.
Reinhardt: "反対しますか？" (Do you object?)
Elsa: "いいえ、素晴らしいです。素晴らしい！私を楽しませてください！" (No, it is wonderful. Wonderful! Do entertain me, please!)
the hunter dashes towards Reinhardt again, and attempts to stab him, but he slashes at her blade, and takes it.
Reinhardt: "武器を紛失した場合は、降伏することを強くお勧めします。" (If you've lost your weapon, I strongly suggest your surrender.)
the Sword Saint throws the blade at the Bowel Hunter, and pulls out another blade.
Subaru: "彼女は 2 番目のものを持っています、ラインハルト!" (She's got a second one, Reinhardt!)
the woman runs, and hacks at the man, but he dodges easily.
Elsa: "私はあなたが知っていたことに感銘を受けました。" (I'm impressed you knew.)
Subaru: "まあ、私はそれを個人的に経験しました。" (Well, I've experienced it personally.)
Elsa: "しかし、私は 2 つの牙だけを持っているわけではありません。再開してもよろしいですか？" (But I don't only have two fangs. Would you mind if we start again?)
Reinhardt: "私があなたの武器をすべて処分したら、あなたは満足してくれますか?" (If I divest you of all of your weapons, will you be satisfied?)
Elsa: "牙を失ったら、爪を使います。爪がなくなったら、骨を使います。骨がなくなったら、命を使います。それが腸ハンターの戦い方です。" (If I lose my fangs, I'll use my claws. If I lose my claws, I'll use my bones. And if I lose my bones, I'll use my life. That's how a Bowel Hunter fights.)
the Bowel Hunter starts jumping all around Reinhardt, and slashing him with her blade, however, the Sword Saint's power is too strong, and none of the hits are landing.
Subaru: "きっとラインハルトは決定的な一撃を食らわないでしょう？" (Surely Reinhardt won't fail to land the decisive blow, will he?)
Half-elf: "精霊アーツを使っているので、全力で戦えない。" (He can't fight at full strength because I'm using my spirit arts.)
Subaru: "それらは互いに何の関係がありますか？" (What do those have to do with each other?)
Half-elf: "ラインハルトが本気で戦う気なら、大気中の魔力は全て俺に背を向けるだろう。私は彼を癒すのをほぼ終えました。私が信号を送ったら、彼に知らせてください。" (If Reinhardt were truly intent on fighting, all the mana in the atmosphere would turn away from me. I'm almost done healing him. When I give the signal, let him know.)
the Half-elf continued to heal the old giant's shoulder, and now, finally, she finished healing it.
Half-elf: "彼はもう大丈夫です。どうぞ。" (He's all right now. Go ahead.)
Subaru: "ラインハルト！よくわかりませんが、頑張ってください！" (Reinhardt! I don't really get it, but do your thing!)
Elsa: "何を見せてくれるの？" (What are you going to show me?)
Reinhardt: "アストレア家の剣術。" (The swordplay of the Astrea family.)
his blade started glowing blue, he points his sword at the Bowel Hunter, ready to fight.
Elsa: "腸の狩人、エルザ・グランヒルト。" (The Bowel Hunter, Elsa Granhiert.)
Reinhardt: "剣聖一族のラインハルト・ヴァン・アストレア。" (Reinhard van Astrea of the Master Swordsman's line.)
the Sword Saint's blade glew brighter, until both of the Bowel Hunter and Sword Saint weren't visible, half of the Loot House exploded, due to Reinhardt's blow, the Bowel Hunter is dead!
Subaru: "おっ、おっ、おっ！" (Whoa, whoa, whoa!)
the smoke clears, showing the Bowel Hunter and half of the Loot House gone.
Subaru: "モンスター狩りはおまえの得意分野だぞ！あなた自身がモンスターです！" (Hunting monsters is your specialty, my ass! You're a monster yourself!)
a boy dashes into the house.
Gienah: "what was that explosion?!"
Reinhardt: "私もそんなコメントには少し傷ついています、スバル。" (Even I'm a bit hurt by a comment like that, Subaru.)
the Sword Saint looks at his blade, and says: "いろいろお願いしてすみません。今はよく休んでください。" (I'm sorry I asked too much of you. Rest well now.)
Gienah: "WHERE DID THE LOOT HOUSE GO?"
Subaru: "体はおろか彼女の影も残っていない…一刀両断で残るのはこれだけか？" (There's not a shadow of her left, let alone a body... This is all that's left after just one sword swing?)
Half-elf: "もう終わったんだ？" (It's over now?)
Subaru: "ええ、どういうわけか...文字通りそれを意味します。" (Yeah, somehow or other... And I mean that literally.)
Gienah: "Subaru, what the fuck did you do, where's the loot house?"
Subaru: "Reinhardt overu there swung his sword, and harf of the root house disappeared."
Gienah: "Holy shit, what?"
the Half-elf notices the little boy staring at her, and says: "なぜあなたは私を見つめているのですか？それはかなり失礼です。" (Why are you staring at me? That's quite rude.)
Gienah: "Wait, are you talking with me?"
Subaru: "she said stop staring at heru."
Gienah: "Yeah sure..."
Subaru: "そうそう、ラインハルト… まだお礼を言ってないよ。あなたは私のお尻を救った！路地裏にも。友よ、助けを求める私の心の叫びを聞いたのね！" (Oh yeah, Reinhardt... I haven't thanked you yet. You saved my ass! Back in the alley, too. I guess you heard my heart's cries for help, friend!)
Reinhardt: "もしそうなら、私は間違いなく誇りに思うでしょう。友よ。この二人は必死で通りを走り回っていました、そして彼女は私に助けを求めました." (If I did do that, I'd certainly be proud. Friend, eh. These two were running around the street in desperation, and she asked for my help.)
Half-elf: "それは..." (That's...)
Subaru: "さあ、待ってください。彼女がラインハルトを連れて来ていなければ、私たちは滅んでいたでしょう。この顔を見て、氷の像の罰を免れましょう。" (Now, hang on. If she hadn't brought Reinhardt, we'd have been destroyed. Just take a look at this face, and spare me the ice-statue punishment, okay?)
Half-elf: "そんな暴力的なことはしません。そして、あなたの顔は何と関係がありますか-" (I wouldn't do anything that violent. And what does your face have to do with-)
suddenly, the rumble moves behind Subaru, which the Sword Saint and Gienah noticed.
Gienah: "Subaru!"
Reinhardt: "スバル！" (Subaru!)
the rumble behind him explodes, and Elsa emerges, ready to slice open the Half-elf's stomach, Reinhardt runs towards her, attempting to stop her before she reaches her, Subaru grabs the giant bat again.
Subaru: "彼女は腸のために行くよ ！" (She'll go for the gut!)
he pushes the Half-elf, and protects himself with the giant bat, he gets thrown to the wall.
Elsa: "彼はまた私の邪魔をした。" (He got in my way again.)
Reinhardt: "もういい。エルサ！" (That's enough. Elsa!)
she throws her blade at Reinhardt, but misses.
Elsa: "すぐに、ここにいる全員を解体します。" (Soon enough, I'll disembowel everyone here.)
she jumps backwards, and lands on a pillar.
Elsa: "それまで腸を大事にしましょう。" (Take good care of your bowels until then.)
the Bowel Hunter escapes, leaving the group, Reinhardt approaches the half-elf.
Reinhardt: "大丈夫ですか？" (Are you all right?)
Half-elf: "私が大丈夫かどうかなんて関係ない！それよりも…大丈夫ですか、無謀すぎました！" (Whether I'm all right doesn't matter! More importantly... Are you all right, that was far too reckless!)
Gienah: "Why do you even care about this woman that doesn't even know you, you shouldn't have done that!"
Subaru: "あ、問題ありませんでした。確かに長い道のりを歩んできましたが、ようやくここまでたどり着きました。" (Oh, it was no problem. I sure took the long road, but I finally reached this point.)
the man struck a pose, and shouts: "私の名前はナツキ・スバルです！そして、私は凶悪な悪役からあなたの命を救ったところです!" (My name is Natsuki Subaru! And I just saved your life from a heinous villain!)
Gienah: "I'm pretty sure Reinhardt did most of the work"
Subaru: "私たちは Okay その上？" (Are we okay on that?)
Gienah: "No we aren't."
Half-elf: "Okay?"
Subaru: "それは「私たちはそれについて明確ですか？」という意味です。そう... Okay?" (It means "Are we clear on that?" So... Okay?)
Half-elf: "O-Okay..."
Gienah: "now you're teaching her English!"
Subaru: "私、あなたの救助者はあなたの命を救いました。そして、あなたは私が救ったヒロインです！ということは、私に現物でお返しをするべきではないでしょうか？そうじゃない？" (I, your rescuer, saved your life. And you are the heroine I saved! So wouldn't that mean you should repay me in kind? Wouldn't it?)
Half-elf: "わかりました。もちろん、それが私の力の範囲内である場合にのみ..." (All right, I get it. Only if its within my power, of course...)
Subaru: "なら、一つだけお願いがあります！はい、私のお願いは…" (In that case, I have only one request! Yes, my request is...)
he smiles, and flicks his finger, then says: "お名前を教えてください。" (Tell me your name.)
Half-elf: "*laugh* エミリア" (Emilia.)
Subaru: "は？" (Huh?)
Emilia: "私の名前はエミリア、ただのエミリアです。助けてくれてありがとう、スバル。" (My name is Emilia, just Emilia. Thank you, Subaru, for saving me.)
Gienah: "How is she your friend if you didn't even know her name?"
Subaru: "*smile* ちょっと、不平等な補償について話してください。" (Sheesh, talk about unequal compensation.)
((Scene Change))
Reinhardt: "とにかくスバル、無傷でよかった。" (Anyway, Subaru, I'm impressed that you're unhurt.)
Subaru: "あっと言う間に守ってくれました。それがなかったら、私は今、2 つに分かれていたでしょう。" (That thing protected me at a moment's notice. If not for that, I'd be in two pieces right now.)
he points at the giant bat, which reinhardt picks up.
Reinhardt: "確かに、これがなければ..." (True, if not for this...)
the giant bat was sliced in half.
Reinhardt: "は？" (Huh?)
they all look at Subaru's stomach, finally noticing his wound, he falls over after the wound opens.
Emilia: "スバル？スバル！" (Subaru? Subaru!)
Gienah: "Subaru!"
Subaru has lost consciousness.
((Change Scene))
Emilia: "そこには！彼の治療は完了です。彼は今、こぶを乗り越えているはずです。" (There! His treatment is complete. He should be over the hump now.)
Reinhardt: "ところでエミリア様、スバルとの関係は？" (By the way, Emilia-sama, what is your relation to Subaru?)
Emilia: "通りすがりの知り合い？私は以前に彼に会ったことを覚えていません。" (A passing acquaintance? I don't recall ever meeting him before.)
the young boy, Gienah, is thinking, "What are we gonna do now?", they have no house to go to, and he can't really talk with Emilia because he doesn't understand Japanese that well.
Emilia: "今日の会議は初めてだと思っていた..." (I thought our meeting earlier today was the first time...)
Reinhardt: "しかし、彼はあなたを探していました。彼はあなたに何かあげるものがあると言った。" (But he was looking for you. He said he had something to give you.)
Emilia: "だからこそ、不思議な…" (That's why it's so strange...)
Reinhardt: "この二人どうしよう。" (What shall we do with these two?)
Reinhardt: "二人をゲストとして家に連れて行きたいです。" (I'd be glad to take them both to my home as guests.)
Gienah really has to learn Japanese quickly.
Emilia: "いいえ、持って帰ります。その方法で実際に何が起こっているのかを知ることができます。しかし、それ以上に、あの少女と老人の行方はどうなるのだろうか。" (No, I will take them home. That way I can find out what's really going on. But more than that, what will happen to the girl and the old man?)
Reinhardt: "公式には、彼らのしたことを見逃すことはできません。" (Officially, I cannot overlook what they've done.)
Reinhardt: "残念ながら今日は休みです。" (Unfortunately, I'm off duty today.)
Gienah: "Can you two understand me?"
Emilia: "あなたは悪い騎士です。ええと、あなたの名前はイーサンですよね？" (You're a bad knight. um, your name is Gienah, correct?)
Gienah: "?"
Emilia: "あなたはスバルの友達ですか？ご希望であれば、ご自宅までお連れします。" (Are you a friend of Subaru? I can take you with me to my home if you want.)
Gienah: "もちろん？" (Sure?)
the half-elf walks and sits next to Felt.
Emilia: "この老人はあなたの家族ですか？" (Is this old man your family?)
Felt: "そんな感じ。ロム爺さんしか持ってない…" (Something like that. Old Man Rom is the only one I have...)
she looks at the old giant.
Felt: "彼は私のおじいちゃんに似ていると思います。" (I guess he's like my grandpa.)
Emilia: "分かりました。私も家族は一人しかいません。ただし、彼は最も重要な瞬間に常に眠っています。彼が起きているとき、私はそれを大声で言うことはありません。" (I see. I only have one family member, too. He's always asleep at the most important moments, though. I'd never say that outloud when he's awake.)
Felt: "私はあなたが私にもっと厳しいと思っていました。" (I thought you'd be a lot harsher to me.)
Emilia: "ごめんなさい。" (I'm sorry.)
Felt: "あなたは私の命を救ってくれました。盗んだものは返す。重要な場合は、だれにも盗まれないように隠しておきます。" (You saved my life, and I can't let a debt go unpaid. I'll return what I stole. If it's important, keep it hidden so that no one can steal it again.)
Emilia: "あなたが私にその警告を与えてくれるのは面白い感じです。" (It's a funny feeling to have you give me that warning.)
Felt pulls out the glowing Insignia, which Reinhardt notices, he grabs Felt's hand.
Emilia: "ラインハルト？" (Reinhardt?)
Gienah: "What?"
Felt: "あなたは私を傷つけています！手放す！" (You're hurting me! Let go!)
Reinhardt: "どうすればいいの？あなたの名前は何ですか？" (How can this be? What's your name?)
Felt: "は？フェルトです…" (Huh? It's Felt... )
Reinhardt: "で、姓は？何歳ですか？" (And your family name? How old are you?)
Felt: "家名のような派手なものはありません！私は... 15歳くらいだと思います。私は自分の誕生日を知りません。ほら、行かせて！" (I don't have anything fancy like a family name! I'm... about fifteen, I think. I don't know my birthday. Look, just let me go!)
Reinhardt: "エミリア様、約束を守れません。この娘を連れて行きます。" (Emilia-sama, I'm afraid I can't keep my promise to you. I'll be taking this girl with me.)
Emilia: "どういうことなんですか？インシグニアを盗むためなら…" (May I ask why? If it's for stealing my Insignia...)
Reinhardt: "それは確かに、小さな犯罪ではありません。しかし、今目の前で繰り広げられている犯罪を見逃すことの重大さに比べれば、些細なことです。私と一緒に来る必要があります。申し訳ありませんが、お断りすることはできません。" (That is, indeed, no small crime. But it's trivial in comparison to the gravity of overlooking the crime unfolding before me now. I'll need you to come with me. I'm sorry, but I cannot allow you to refuse.)
Felt: "自分自身を乗り越えます！ただ、あなたが私を救ってくれたから-" (Get over yourself! Just because you saved me-)
suddenly, the girl fell asleep, and Reinhardt took her with him.
Emilia: "それもあまり騎士らしくありませんでした。" (That wasn't very knightly, either.)
Gienah: "did she die?!"
Reinhardt: "使いすぎないように気をつけました。" (I was careful not to use too much.)
Reinhardt: "エミリア様、また近いうちにお伺いします。お分かりできると良いのですが。" (Emilia-sama, I'll most likely be calling upon you again soon. I hope you understand.)
the Sword Saint gave Emilia her Insignia back, and said: "スバルとその仲間をよろしくお願いします。" (Please take good care of Subaru and his friend.)
they both look at the moon.
Gienah: "I don't even know what's happening anymore."
Reinhardt: "静かに月を眺めるのは今日が最後かもしれません。" (Today may be the last chance we have to gaze calmly at the moon.)
And so, Reinhardt left, leaving Emilia with an unconscious Subaru and a confused Gienah.
