The Winx Club's Sodor Adventures - Season 2

Episode 7: Percy and the Signal

Percy and Musa work in the yard at the big station. They loves playing jokes, but they can get them into trouble.

One morning, they was very cheeky indeed.

"Peep peep! Hurry up, Gordon, the train's ready."

"Yeah, you and Aisha had better get going!"

Gordon and Aisha thought they were late.

"Ha ha ha ha!" laughed Percy and Musa, and they showed them a train of dirty coal cars. Gordon and Aisha thought how to get back at the troublesome duo for teasing them.

Next it was James and Stella's turn.

"Stay in the shed today, James. Sir Topham Hatt will come and see you and Stella."

"Why?" asked Stella. She was very puzzled.

"Maybe he has a special job for you two," replied Musa.

"Ah!" thought James. "Sir Topham Hatt knows I'm a fine engine. He wants us to pull a special train."

"Oh!" exclaimed Stella, "Maybe my parents are coming to visit us!"

So Stella decided to not make James move. The other engines and fairies grumbled dreadfully. They had to do James' work as well as their own.

At last, the inspector arrived. "Show a wheel, James. You and Stella can't stay here all day."

"Sir Topham Hatt told me to stay here. He sent a message this morning."

"He did not. How could he? He's away for a week."

"So, we've been tricked!" exclaimed Stella.

"Oh!" said James. "Oh! Where are Percy and Musa?"

Percy and Musa had wisely disappeared. When Sir Topham Hatt came back, he was cross with James, Stella, Percy and Musa for causing so much trouble.

But the very next day, Percy and Musa are still being cheeky.

"I say, you engines, Musa and I are to take some freight cars to Thomas and Bloom's junction."

"Yeah," said Musa. "Sir Topham Hatt chose us specially. He must know we're really useful workers."

"More likely, he wants you two out of the way," grunted James.

Gordon and Aisha looked across to James and Stella. They were going to play a trick on Percy and Musa. "The four of us were just speaking about signals at the junction."

"Oh, yes," said Aisha. "We can't be too careful about signals, but then I needn't say that to really useful workers like you and Musa, Percy."

Percy and Musa felt flattered.

"We've had spoken about backing signals," put in James. "They need extra special care you know."

"That's right," said Stella, "Would you like us to explain?"

"No, thank you, Stella," said Percy. "Musa and I know all about signals." Although Percy was a little worried, Musa noticed that something funny was going on with the others, but she kept that to herself.

"I wonder what backing signals are," he thought. "Never mind, I'll manage." He and Musa puffed crossly to their freight cars and felt better.

They came to a signal.

"Bother! It's at danger!"

The signal moved to show line cleared. It's arm moved up instead of down.

Percy had never been that sort of signal before. "Down means go and up means stop. So upper still must mean go back. I know! It's one of those backing signals!"

"Come on, Percy," said Musa. "Off we go. Stop! You're going the wrong way!"

"But it's a backing signal," Percy protested and told her about Gordon, James, Aisha and Stella.

Musa laughed and explained.

"Oh, dear," said Percy. "Let's start quickly before they see us."

They were too late. Gordon and Aisha saw everything.

That night, the big engines talked about signals. They thought the subject was funny. Percy and Musa thought they were being very silly.
