The Winx Club's Sodor Adventures - Season 2
Episode 22: Wrong Road
Thomas' branch line is important and so is Edward's. But their tracks and bridges are not so strong as those on the mainline. Sir Topham Hatt does not allow the heavier mainline engines like Gordon to run on them.
But one day, the way Gordon was talking, you would've have thought Sir Topham Hatt had given this order for quite another reason.
"It's not fair!" grumbled Gordon.
"Here we go again," said Tecna.
"What isn't fair?" asked Edward.
"Letting branch line diesels pull mainline trains."
"Gordon," said Aisha, "how could you say that? Boco's not that bad. He's the first friendly diesel we've ever met."
"Yes," said Tecna, "and Timmy's handling him very nicely."
"But you don't understand," said Gordon. "The thought of seeing branch line diesels like Boco on the mainline can make us bigger engines a laughing stock in all England."
"Never mind, Gordon," said Edward. "I'm sure Boco will let you pull his freight cars sometimes."
Gordon spluttered. "I won't pull Boco's dirty cars. I won't run on branchlines."
"Why not? It would be a nice change."
"Sir Topham Hatt would never approve," huffed Gordon. "Branch lines are vulgar."
Gordon puffed away. Edward and Tecna chuckled and followed him and Aisha to Knapford Station.
"Don't worry about Gordon," said Tecna to Aisha. "He'll soon have some common sense knocked into him about branch lines."
"I hope you're right about that, Tecna," said Aisha. "I really do."
Every evening, the two engines pulled two fast trains from the station. Gordon and Aisha always leave first with their express for the main line to Vicarstown. Edward and Tecna follow five minutes later with their train for the branch line to Brendam.
Usually everything runs like clockwork, but tonight there was trouble. A lady in a green floppy hat was saying goodbye to her friend. It was nearly time for Gordon to start. Aisha looked back towards the conductor's van and saw something green waving.
"Right away!" she said. She thought the conductor had waved his flag.
Gordon started, leaving luggage, his passengers and the conductor all standing on the platform. Everyone was very surprised and cross.
To make matters worse, by the time Aisha stopped Gordon and brought him back, Edward and Tecna were already late with their train. So now, they set off first.
But the signalman at the junction wasn't told about the change. By mistake, he sent Edward and Tecna along the main line.
Gordon and Aisha were sent along the branch, and arrived cold and cross on one of the sidings near the harbor.
Next morning, Bill, Ben, Riven and Nex arrived into the yard. There were no cars for them, but they didn't mind that. Teasing Gordon will be much better fun.
"What's that?" asked Bill.
"Shush!" whispered Ben. "It's Gordon."
"It looks like Gordon, but it can't be."
"Of course it's Gordon," said Nex. "He has the Number 4 on his coal tender."
"If that's Gordon," said Riven, "tell us one thing about him."
"Well, for one thing," said Bill, "Gordon never comes on the branch lines. He thinks them vulgar."
Gordon pretended he hadn't heard them.
"If it isn't Gordon," said Ben, "it's just a pile of old iron."
"Which we better take it to the scrapyard."
"No, Bill, this lots useless for scrap. We'll take it to the harbor and dump it in the sea."
Gordon was alarmed. "I am Gordon! Stop! Stop!"
When Boco and Timmy suddenly arrived, Gordon thought them the most beautiful sight he had ever been. "Boco, my dear engine! Save me!"
Boco and Timmy quickly sized up the situation and threatened to take away the cars they brought for the twins and the two specialists. This made them behave at once.
Gordon thought Boco and Timmy were wonderful. "Those little demons. How do you do it?"
"Ah, well," said Boco, "it's just a knack."
"I agree," said Timmy.
Gordon still believes that Boco and Timmy saved his life. But we all know that Riven, Nex and the twins were only teasing. Don't we?
