Originally this story had been started around November of 2021 and was written by me and my old best friend. Together we had built worlds and wrote stories for the better part of 10 years, being friends for nearly 15. While we may no longer speak, this story hasn't left my mind since. My plan is to take this story we created and finish what we began. I'll be rewriting the entire thing, and it may be strange at first, but hopefully this will help me gain some sense of real closure in this. I'll do my best to write Jane with justice, my dear. -E
Background:
This story takes place in an Avengers alternate universe. The team consists of Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers, Thor Odinson, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton. Additionally, the team contains good!Loki Laufeyson and two original characters, Amelia Fletcher and Jane Beck. The team worked together to serve and protect the Earth for 10 years (with its members all being in their 20's) before breaking up, rather poorly, making international news.
"The Shadow" refers to the large underground 'corporation' run by the Fletcher family. They're largely shrouded in mystery to the outside world, only the family truly knowing its goings on. Prior to joining the Avengers team, Amelia Fletcher ran away from her home and The Shadow for reasons she never truthfully explained to the team (exceptions being Thor and Loki). Jane Beck had been allegedly sold off to The Shadow at a young age and trained in one of their programs to work as an assassin, never learning anything else of The Shadow.
Extra Characters:
Jane Beck: Presently aged 38. Originally from Australia with brown, wavy hair, freckled tan skin and light green eyes. Has the power to control water, including freezing it. Doesn't remember much of her past other than being sold to The Shadow when she was a child by her older sibling. While there, she was trained as an assassin by Amelia Fletcher. She also was trained in different sciences while in The Shadow's "care" by some of the staff there, taking a great interest in biology sciences. Eventually escaping after Amelia ran away, she originally went to find and kill her. After finding her among the Avengers, she was captured and held in a cell in the Avengers Tower until the team figured out what to do with her. For unknown reasons in her cell, Jane had a change of heart and a desire to prove herself safe, sane and useful to the team if they would take her in instead of potentially "getting rid of" her or keeping her locked up forever. After some time, Jane felt drawn to Bruce Banner, becoming very close. The two ended up dating for some time and somehow found a work-around to his "problem" interfering with their love life. Eventually the pair became pregnant, and Jane gave birth to a boy they named Jace. Afterwards, the couple couldn't seem to handle the stress of a relationship and a child together and decided to split, but remained close friends. Some time later, Jane ended up dating and even getting married to Tony Stark. After the team broke apart, the two eventually drifted apart, and their relationship ended somewhat poorly in the years after the team split apart. She then went on to work in a genetic modification lab in Melbourne, Australia, where she was from, taking her son, Jace with her, and essentially cutting all ties from the entire Avengers team.
Amelia Fletcher: Aged approximately 37. Light blonde, curly hair, pale skin covered in freckles, dark brown eyes. Has the power to control fire and heat.
Original origins unknown save for "The Shadow". Grew up with 25 siblings all raised by her father and random caretakers. Never being given true names, the children were named after letters of the alphabet, Amelia's letter being "X". Eventually the siblings named themselves. Her mother died while giving birth to Z, who also died at the same time. Not much is known or shared about Amelia's past except that she grew up spending time with Thor and Loki while their fathers did …business. After running away from home, she struck up a quick friendship with Steve Rogers while he took his morning runs in Brooklyn and he introduced her to the team (which already contained Thor and Loki). Some time after joining the team, she became romantically involved with Loki and the two eventually got married and had a son, James. After the team split up, Amelia, Loki and James lived on Asgard with Thor.
