We both showed up at a party wearing matching costumes, so everyone thinks we're together and we aren't sure how to respond to that
Bella didn't understand what was happening. She was at a party at Emily's house and everyone kept complimenting her costume, and how "adorable how she and her boyfriend were wearing match costumes", which would be fine…if she had a boyfriend.
"Something very weird is going on," Bella murmured by herself. She was walking towards the beverage table, still thinking about the comments. "People can be so weird."
"So you're the reason why I have people complimenting me and why no woman came near me," a voice from behind her said, and Bella turned to see a man behind her.
She knew him—in passage—but she knew he was one of Sam's friends, he was really tall and he was wearing the same costume as her.
"You're the boyfriend," Bella blunted, before cringing. "I mean, you're the one who everyone assumed was my boyfriend. Why must you be wearing a skeleton costume?"
The stranger shrugged, "It was the last costume the store had. What's your excuse?"
"I already had the costume in my closet," Bella mumbled, before she frowned her face. "Why am I telling you this?"
"Because I have a cute face and you can trust me," the stranger batted his eyes at her, making her snort. "Maybe because you find me attractive? That's a very good reason."
"I don't even know your name!" Bella cried, before seeing the smirk on his face. "You think you're funny, don't you?"
"I know I'm hilarious," the man deadpanned. "I'm Paul, by the way. And you're Bella, aren't you?"
Bella looked at Paul, trying to understand how he knew her name. She seemed to be lost in thoughts for too long, because Paul seemed to be uncomfortable.
"How do you know my name?" Bella asked, turning her head to the side.
"It's difficult not to know who you are, especially when Sam talks about you like you're his little sister," Paul replied, shrugging. "And now, we're in matching costumes."
"It does seem a little like fate, doesn't it? Or maybe a little like Halloween playing a part in our lives? It's a full moon, after all," Bella said, looking at the outside. "It's when the skeletons in our closets decide to come out to play."
"That's why you decided to use this particular costume?" Paul asked, coming near Bella. "I think you look hot in your bones."
Bella snorted and let out a laugh. Paul's smirk widened and Bella thought he looked hotter.
"Why don't we go get something to drink and see where our skeletons take us?" Paul asked, grabbing her hand and bringing her to the beverage table.
"I think this is a good idea," Bella replied, trying to stop a smile from appearing.
With the full moon outside, anything could happen.
