Here we are! First story for the challenge! *dances around and celebrates* Yay! I'm so excited!

I think I'm going to post each of my entries in seperate stories, because why not? (And maybe because I've secretly had this goal to get the Green Ember fandom to 100 fics so I'm going to post as many stories as I can.) :D

"I would do it all again," Garten spat back to his brother. He would, too. How could all those around him be so blind? If he hadn't done what he did, they would be in a much different situation right now. A much worse situation. Why couldn't they see it? Even his niece, who seemed like she could be an intelligent doe, tried to stop him.

He had known from the beginning that Morbin was too powerful. They could never hope to win against such a monster. There was only one other choice and that was to become subjects of Morbin before he killed them all.

He tried over the years to convince the king of that in subtle ways, but Jupiter never saw it. The fool. There was only one more option and that was for Garten to become the way to salvation for the rabbits. The Birds of Prey would only keep coming back, no matter how many times they pushed them back. There was no hope, unless they followed a new way.

But no matter how hard he tried to forge that new path for rabbitkind and fulfill his vision, they tried to stop him and look where it landed them. With thousands of both sides dead. None of this would have happened if they'd let him lead. If they had done what would keep them alive and well. That was all he wanted.

All this went through his head as he let go of the ship and fell. He hit the water and liquid quickly filled his lungs. I would do it again, he thought as his vision blurred and his body began to go limp. It was the right choice.
