Prologue: A Call for New Pups - Recruitment
It's a foggy night in Adventure Bay, cold, windy. The streets are lonely, and yet for a young male Chow Chow pup, it didn't seem different from other nights. He was also partially a werewolf, as seen by his messy fur, though at first sight, many would think he had messy fur after either getting soaked or something similar. He walked through the streets, hidden by darkness, looking for something to eat, and also looking for a place to spend the night. Basically, a place where he wouldn't feel alone. At that moment, the puppy found leftovers of hamburgers on the side of a door. The puppy looked to his right, then to his left, and quickly took the food before running off to hide. Once that was done, he smiled at such luck.
"At last ... I'm hungry." He spoke, but just as he was about to start eating, he heard a very loud noise. He approached the end of the street and when he turned around, he saw a terrifying image.
A building on fire. The pup felt a little intimidated when seeing the image in front of him, but almost immediately, he saw a new image, one that surprised him greatly.
"Chase, create a perimeter and make sure that nobody comes near the building! Skye, I need you to keep your eyes on the situation of the fire, but do not get too close to it. Kitty, am I Good?" Ryder shouted, standing next to his ATV and coordinating his pups, known as PAW Patrol, who were ready for action.
"Chase is on the case! As ordered, Ryder sir!" Chase shouted back and immediately went to close the pass using his cones and police tape so that no one who wasn't a rescuer could come near the scene.
"Good as gold, Ryder!" Kitty responds. "Just stand back from the heat."
"Rubble, use your bulldozer and dig a ditch on the sides of the building. We'll try to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings." Ryder continued before looking at Rocky. "Rocky, we're going to need a waterproof tent for the wounded. "Upon hearing the instructions, the two pups immediately got to work.
"Let's dig it!" Rubble shouted and hopped into his bulldozer before doing as Ryder requested.
"Green means go!" Rocky exclaimed before quickly entering the back of his vehicle. Almost immediately afterwards, he came out with poles and a waterproof canvas and with Ryder's help, they both improvised a first aid tent at a safe distance . When they finished, two rescue workers were installed inside and they began to check the wounded. Rocky stayed next to the rescuers to give them the things that they both might need.
"Zuma, I have a very important job for you. As you already noticed, we are too close to the dock. We need all the ships to get away from this place. Captain Turbot and François are already waiting for you to help you." Ryder instructed his water rescue pup, who responded with, "Weady, set, get wet!" before climbing into his hovercraft and quickly heading out to retrieve the boats from the dock with the help of his friends. While the pups were doing their jobs, the little Chow Chow was somewhat impressed, and within his heart, he wanted to help them.
But soon, he shook it away. "No ... it's just dreams ... what could an abandoned puppy like me do?" He asked himself, but little did he know, something unexpected had been reserved for him.
Meanwhile with Ryder and the pups...
"Ryder, the fire department is trying to control the fire on three flanks, I hope we're done in time." Marshall spoke, still worried about the flames, but the firefighters seemed to have everything under control for the time being.
"I understand, Marshall." Ryder said, nodding. "I think you could switch to your E.M.T. gear and uniform to help the injured. Firefighters can..." But before Ryder could finish the last sentence, a scream was heard from a small child, but neither Ryder nor Marshall could see where it came from. At that moment, the Paw Patroller arrived and more pups descended to help as RoboDog had brought Everest and Tracker ASAP.
"Just in time, RoboDog!" Ryder told Robodog, glad that Tracker and Everest arrived in time to help.
"We came as fast as we could, Ryder!" Everest exclaimed, standing in front Ryder and ready for action.
"We're ready for whatever you need us for, amigo! " Tracker stated.
"I am very happy that you two arrived." Ryder said before instructing again. "Everest, I know that this is not your field, but you can help us remove debris with the mechanical arm of your Snowplow."
"Don't worry, Ryder, I'm ready to help. Off the trail, Everest won't fail!" Everest shouted, immediately getting in her snowplow and starting to remove garbage cans, logs, anything that could be a problem while at the same time clearing the road, which facilitates mobility in the area.
"How can I help Ryder?" Tracker asked, also standing in front of Ryder and ready for action. Ryder had an idea in which Tracker could help him perfectly.
"Tracker, your wonderful sense of hearing is going to help us right now. A few minutes ago, Marshall and I heard a cry for help, but we couldn't identify where it came from." Ryder explained.
"I already understand what you need, Ryder. I'm all ears! Todo Oidos!" Tracker exclaimed, then he firmly paid a lot of attention and although there were many noises around him, the Jungle pup put all his effort into listening very well, until finally achieving his goal as he finally heard a cry for help.
"Ryder, there is a child trapped on the second floor, and he doesn't know how to get out!" He exclaimed. "If I listen well, he's terrified!" The moment Marshall heard what Tracker said, he got ready to enter the building and turned to Ryder.
"I'll go find him immediately! The other firemen are busy holding the fire, I can bring the little one to safety." He exclaimed with a serious look on his face. While Ryder did smile at his intentions, he walked up to Marshall with a hint of worry in his eyes
"I know you're trained for this, but be very careful, Marshall. " Ryder said, hugging his fire pup, who hugged back.
"I will, Ryder." Marshall replied and once they released the hug he ran towards the building while shouting, "Ready for a ruff-ruff rescue!"
Tracker and Ryder watched Marshall enter the building. Both were worried so Ryder continued to monitor all the pups and the emergency situation while Tracker remained vigilant, attentive to the sounds and his friend Marshall.
Meanwhile, something inside the heart of a certain Chow Chow pup was shaken and without thinking even of his own safety, he ran in the direction of the building, only with one goal. He wanted to offer his help.
Back at the burning building, Marshall was walking between the corridors with great caution and while doing so, he opened the communication with his pup tag to keep Ryder informed of his progress.
"Ryder, I'm going up the stairs, the atmosphere in the hall feels too hot." He stated.
"Marshall, be very careful, the building is still on fire, remember to act with caution." Ryder recalled.
"I'll be careful, Ryder." Marshall replied as he continued walking through the corridors, until he found a small boy who was crying and hugging a teddy bear.
"Hello, little one! I'm Marshall, from Paw Patrol." Marshall introduced himself, trying to calm down the boy. The little one looked at Marshall somewhat frightened and instinctively he hugged his teddy tighter.
"Trust me little one, let's get out of here, and soon you will be safe with your family." Marshall spoke again. The little boy just nodded and, although he was still shaking with fear, he stood up and started following Marshall. But things took a turn for the worse when the two began walking towards the stairs to get down. As soon as they approached the first step, the small child began coughing uncontrollably. Marshall got worried and because the child wasn't coughing before, and there weren't signs of smoke in that place, he began checking the child before he began coughing constantly, and was feeling somewhat dizzy. Thanks to his training however, Marshall realized what was happening and what danger they all found themselves in so he spoke into his collar despite his coughing.
"Ryder ... We have a huge problem ..." He warned. Ryder, upon seeing Marshall coughing, got concerned.
"Marshall? Are you okay? "Ryder askeed
"Ryder ... there's a gas leak ... We need the firemen to evacuate the area..." He spoke while coughing. "I ... I'm going to get the little boy out of here ..." Ryder could tell that while he was speaking, Marshall couldn't stop coughing, and the child was in the same situation.
"Hurry and get out of there, Marshall! Be very careful!" He advised.
Marshall just gave a smile to his leader, and cut the communication. At that time, Marshall removed an oxygen mask from his Pup Pack, and placed it on the child's face.
"That ... that oxygen mask is going to help you breathe until we leave this place." He said. "Don't take it away from you for anything in the world."
The boy looked at Marshall, still scared, but in the middle of that situation, as usual, Marshall showed his charisma and courage to smile for the child in front of him. The little one felt calmer, and both began walking again. Marshall tried to continue smiling to give confidence to the child who walked by his side, but he was feeling extremely dizzy from the gas, and he didn't have another oxygen mask for himself. But that didn't stop him as he remained determined to save the child. However, when the two of them were already at the bottom, Marshall fell to the floor without strength.
"No ... I have ... I have to get this little one out of here ..." Marshall said, trying to stand up, but had no strength. The little boy didn't know what to do. Time was running out and the risk was growing.
Meanwhile, outside the building, Ryder was also starting to worry.
"It's been a long time, and Marshall still didn't get the child that he found out." Ryder said. Tracker realized that Ryder was really worried, and he started using his sense of hearing to try and locate Marshall, but when he did, he was also worried.
"Oy oy oy! Ryder ... It seems that Marshall and the boy have stopped, but I don't know why." Tracker whined.
Ryder began to fear that something had happened to Marshall and the child, but couldn't do anything at the moment, only wait.
Kitty however, seeing how upset Ryder was, walked up to him and gave him a hug. "I'm sure Marshall will be fine"
Ryder leaned into the hug and sighed. "I hope so."
Back in the building, Marshall was very weak from gas poisoning and no matter how much effort he made, he couldn't stand up. It was only a matter of time before Marshall lost consciousness because of gas and Marshall knew it. Just when Marshall felt more desperate, he managed to see the shadow of another pup appear, but due to his weakness, Marshall couldn't focus his eyes well. He only had enough strength to say, "Please ... Help the boy out of here... don't worry about me... but I beg you... take the little boy out of here..."before being unable to take it anymore and losing consciousness.
"It's you! It's definitely you! "The Chow Chow pup exclaimed, unable to believe that he was watching Marshall. Although he was also coughing because of the gas, he started looking around, knowing that they didn't have much time, but also unwilling to abandon Marshall. At that moment, a jet of water sprayed by the firefighters came through one of the windows, giving the pup a chance. Immediately, the intelligent pup pulled three curtains, then he wet them with the water jet, then he placed one of the curtains on top of the child, one on himself, and finally, he used the last wet curtain to wrap Marshall before looking at the child.
"Little one, please run quickly through the front door and don't stop for nothing. They're waiting for you outside." He instructed. The child agreed and, between the value of Marshall and the value of the new pup, he had acquired enough courage and did what the pup asked him, Immediately leaving the building.
Once Tracker noticed the child running out, he shouted, "Ryder! The child left the building!" But then he frowned when he didn't see Marshall coming out as well. "But he came out alone..." He said. "Cielos ... I cannot see Marshall. "
Tracker started to get scared when he didn't see his friend leave the building and wondered if something bad happened to him. But just at that moment, the Chow Chow pup came out the front door of the building with Marshall. However, he only managed to advance a few meters before falling to the ground exhausted from being affected by the poisoning caused from inhaling gas. It didn't help the fact that he hadn't eaten in days either. Ryder, Kitty, and Tracker immediately ran to where the two were.
Tracker checked his breathing. "Ryder, Marshall is breathing, but he needs medical help." He said, taking Marshall's helmet and fireman's uniform off the Dalmatian so the fire pup could get fresh air.
Ryder also took a little Chow Chow/Werepup mixed breed and was very surprised at how smart and fast the pup was, and was also very grateful to him for saving the child and Marshall.
"Thank you very much, little one." He said. "Can you tell me your name?"
The pup looked at Ryder. He had almost no strength, but he managed to respond, "Gabriel ... my ... my name is Gabriel ..." before finally losing consciousness. Ryder turned to Tracker.
"Tracker, we need to take Marshall and Gabriel to Katie. She can take care of them better than anyone else." He said.
"On it, Ryder!" Tracker said before taking Gabriel into his jeep and then jumping in himself, with Ryder taking Marshall and getting on his ATV, and Kitty following on her motorized scooter. Once that was done, the three quickly drove off through the streets of Adventure Bay, and eventually arrived at Katie's Pet Parlor/Veterinary Clinic. Upon entering, Katie noticed the two unconscious pups and wasted no time. She took them and began treating gas poisoning that they had. After treating them both, Katie left the two to rest and walked out, keeping a close eye on Kitty and Ryder.
"Don't worry, Ryder. The two will be fine.'' She said, grudgingly. Ryder and Tracker's response was a sigh of relief, but Katie wasn't done talking. "Marshall just needs a long break. And Gabriel... well, he seems to need something else."
The moment she said that, Ryder seemed to figure out what Katie wanted to say and cut her off.
"Let me guess, Katie... he hasn't eaten in days, and apparently, he has nowhere to go?"
Katie was surprised at first, but agreed with Ryder. She then explained that she had come to see Gabriel walking alone through the streets, but every time she tried to help him, he seemed scared. Ryder was thinking for a minute about what Katie told him and about how complicated today's mission was. Then, Ryder's pup-pad rang and upon answering, Chase appeared on the screen.
"Ryder, sir! Come in!" He exclaimed.
"Hey, Chase. I hear you, what's up?" Ryder asked.
"I got good news and bad news. Which one do you wanna hear first?" Chase replied.
"Let's hear the good news first." Ryder replied. Kitty glared at Katie, who shifted her feet nervously. Ryder ignores the growing conflict.
Chase smiled. "Well, the good news is that the fire is under control and the child that Michael saved is safe with his family." He replied, but then frowned. "But the bad news is, due to the gas leak, there were some casualties." He replied. Ryder frowned as well.
"Alright, thanks for telling me that." Ryder said.
"No problem!" Chase said with a smile. "Say, how are Marshall and the Chow Chow pup?" He asked, further unaware of the fact that they had a werepup among them.
What they also didn't know was that a shadow had been watching the entire rescue under his cloak.
"Impressive. That was some quick thinking. He could have the potential to join my squad." He said and walked off into an empty alley, where he pulled a disk and activated it before setting it down. A holographic call was activated and an image of an adult Doberman.
"Chief Antonio speaking." The dog spoke.
The figure removed his cloak, revealing to be a young Doberman pup, though not that young. "Hello, father. I got news." He said.
"Oh, Rodrigo. What do you have?" The dog, now known as Antonio, asked.
"I think I may have found a potential highly intelligent pup to be the new Chief when you retire." Rodrigo said.
Antonio smiled. "Oh, good. Who is that pup?" He asked.
"I don't know the pup's name, but I witnessed how that pup got a child out of a burning building. And considering it takes nerves to rush into a burning building without proper equipment, that was really brave of him." Rodrigo explained further.
"I like the way this sounds. Assuming a rescue team was there too?" Antonio asked.
"Yep. They're called PAW Patrol." Rodrigo said.
Antonio nodded in understanding. "I see. Keep an eye on your potential volunteer and inform me of his skills. I need to know as much about him as possible before the time to meet him comes." He ordered.
"You got it. Over and out." Rodrigo said and hung up the holographic call, with a new order in mind.
Meanwhile, in the medical room of the Pet Parlor, Marshall and Gabriel were just waking up and Tracker was already there, happy that Marshall was safe as well as grateful to Gabriel who had woken up.
"Thank you very much, amigo! Thanks to your presence today, two lives were saved!" Tracker exclaimed, wagging his tail.
Although he didn't have the strength to respond, Gabriel smiled at Tracker.
"And you know what? Starting today, you already have me as a friend! You're a hero! You were very smart in creating that plan for the three of you to get out of there!" Tracker exclaimed again. From the door, Kitty, Katie, and Ryder watched as Tracker had already become Gabriel's friend, and because Michael seemed happy for that reason.
"You know Katie, I think I have an idea, which we can help Gabriel and the Paw Patrol at the same time." Ryder shot Kitty a 'be quiet' look as she opened her mouth.
Katie smiled at Ryder as she already imagined Ryder's plan. Just then, the door to the Pet Parlor opened and they heard someone shout, "WHERE IS HE?!"
Katie, Kitty, and Ryder turned around and noticed another Dalmatian, this one being female, who was panting like she just ran a marathon.
"Whoa, who are you?" Ryder asked in surprise.
"Margareth, the name's Margareth." The pup, now known as Margareth, replied as soon as she caught her breath. "I just heard that a pup named Marshall is here. Where is he?" She asked. Ryder pointed to where the fire pup was and almost instantly, Margareth rushed in past them
"What was that all about?" Katie asked, still speechless at the reaction.
Ryder just shrugged, noticing that Kitty was biting her lip. He decided not to point this little detail out.
The moment Margareth saw Marshall on the bed, she rushed over to him.
"Marshall!" She screamed, hopping up on the bed. Before Marshall even had a chance to respond, Margareth spoke again, this time with an angry look.
"Marshy, how dare you not call your family?! You don't even send letters! Do you realize how your dad and mom were worried about you with your clumsiness, little brother!?" She yelled out. "And how is it possible that you did not call us after that fire!? We have all been very worried about you!"
The voice startled both Tracker and Gabriel, who were still in the room. Marshall however, let out a whimper.
"S-sorry, Margareth... I've been busy." He spoke timidly.
A moment later, Margareth dropped her angry expression and pulled Marshall in a hug.
"I was worried sick about you, Marshy!" She exclaimed. Marshall hugged back in response.
"I'm so sorry for not calling you guys." He spoke. "I promise, that'll never happen again."
Margareth looked at Marshall and smiled. "Okay, Marshy. But if you break the promise, you and I are gonna have a looong talk." She said with a grin Marshall knew too well.
"Okay, sis." He said with a nervous chuckle. Margareth then hopped off the bed.
"Now I'll head home. Take care, Marshy!" She exclaimed before running out of the room. Once Margareth left, Tracker walked up to Marshall, rubbing his ears a bit.
"Gee, your sister is quite loud, amigo." He complained.
"That's why I don't call her, but yeah. She acts tough, but she cares a lot for me. She was hurt when Ryder wanted to make me a firefighter pup and I decided to join him in Adventure Bay," Marshall said.
Upon hearing this, Kitty walked closer to Ryder, as if to save him from some invisible force.
Tracker smiled. "It must be great to have Margareth as an older sister." He spoke.
Marshall giggled in response. "You have no idea."
Later that night, after Marshall was free to return to the Lookout, he was preparing for bed.
"It sure was great that Gabriel helped me out of there. I'd be done without him." He said to himself.
But still, something told Marshall that the Chow Chow pup looked familiar. But how? He didn't think much about it and soon, he fell asleep.
The very next day, Chase woke up as usual and took his megaphone to wake the other pups up. As usual Marshall and Rubble were the only ones still asleep even after the megaphone. Luckily, Skye came over.
"Looks like spoon time again." Skye said as she took a spoon and tapped the metal bowl with it. As a result, Marshall and Rubble jolted awake.
"Breakfast already?!" Rubble exclaimed, eager to eat.
"Why didn't you wake us up?!" Marshall exclaimed, earning giggles from the other pups.
"You two always fall for that trick." Skye said. Marshall and Rubble giggled a bit themselves.
"We do, don't we?" Rubble asked.
"We sure do." Marshall said.
"Anyway, c'mon pups. Time for yoga." Chase said as everyone ran off to do yoga. And like every time, Marshall fell asleep during yoga, with Skye joking about doing a 'sleeping pup', making the other pups laugh. Once yoga was done, the pups went to get breakfast.
"So, you pups got anything planned for today?" Ryder asked.
"I think we'll be watching TV, nothing much." Rocky said, as Kitty stole one of Ryder's hot fudge sundae Pop-tarts. He chuckled.
"Well, I'm gonna make a special call, Ryder." Marshall said.
"Okay, pups. I gotta go shopping." Ryder said, as he noticed Kitty eating his second to last Pop-tart. Then, he walked off to prepare his ATV. Once Ryder was out of earshot, Zuma looked over at Marshall.
"What's so special about that call, dude?" He asked.
"You'll find out one day." Marshall said as he went into the elevator and took it up.
As he reached the top of the Lookout, Marshall went over to the controls with a smile.
"I don't wanna keep her waiting for this." Marshall said and pressed a few buttons to make a call. Once he did so, he stepped back a bit to be seen in full view. After a few rings, the call was answered and Margareth appeared on the big screen.
"Hello, Marshall!" She exclaimed with a smile. Marshall chuckled.
"Hi, sis. How's it going?" He asked.
"Same old. It was getting boring around here without you." Margareth said with a chuckle.
Deep down, Marshall did feel a bit nostalgic, but he still smiled. "Well, I know of a way to change that." He said.
Margareth looked confused. "What do you mean, Marshy?" She asked.
"How about I come for a week?" Marshall asked.
Margareth gasped. "You, coming home? For a week?!" She asked. Marshall nodded with a smile. "Why not? It would be just like old times." He said.
Margareth took a moment to take in what her little brother just said. Marshall coming home for a week? "Sure! We'll be waiting for you, Marshy!" Margareth exclaimed.
"Okay, take care!" Marshall exclaimed and ended the call. Then he went downstairs, where Ryder was walking in, loaded down with several different types of Pop-tarts. "Whoa, Marshall! What's the rush?" He asked.
"Ryder, can I spend a week with my sister?" Marshall asked, wagging his tail.
"Oh, for a week? Are you sure?" Ryder asked.
"Yep! It'll be just like old times." Marshall exclaimed.
"Well, okay, I think we can manage. When are you planning to go?" Ryder asked.
"I think tomorrow." Marshall said.
"Alright then. You should prepare your stuff." Ryder said as the Dalmatian ran off to do just that.
The next morning came by pretty quickly and Marshall was already awake, even before Chase woke up.
"I need some of this, some of that... this too... Oh, and this as well..." He went as he was tossing things out to pack 'em up. One of which was his favorite teddy bear, Mr. Snuggles. He was also unaware of Chase waking up and coming up behind him only for a comic of Apollo the Super Pup to hit him in the face.
"Hey! Watch where you're tossing your stuff!" He exclaimed.
Marshall jumped in surprise and hit his head on top of the pup-house before crawling out.
"Jeez, Chase! Don't scare me like that!" Marshall yelled.
"Sorry. You were tossing out stuff." Chase said.
"Oh... Well, I was preparing myself for a trip." Marshall said.
"What kind of a trip?" Chase asked.
"Back home." Marshall replied.
Chase's jaw dropped. "Wait what?!" He gasped, surprised.
"Yep. I figured I would spend some time with my family. Been thinking about this since that fire." Marshall said.
Chase was stunned.
"You're kidding." He said.
"Nope." Marshall said.
"What will we do if a fire breaks out?" Chase asked.
"Ryder said you guys will 'manage'." Marshall said with a smile.
"I hope so." Chase said.
It didn't take long for Marshall to be packed and off in his fire truck. If he was to be honest, he hadn't seen his old home since he was little.
"I wonder how much has changed after I left." He wondered as he drove down the streets. It took him an hour before he finally arrived at his destination. The fire station where he used to live looked just like he remembered. With a few minor differences, like the new firefighter course and the sports field.
"Hmm, since when do they have a firefighter course and sports field?" Marshall asked himself. We went to the front door and knocked. A minute later, the door opened and he bowled over.
"Oof!" Marshall went as he fell down. When he looked, he saw it was none other than Margareth.
"Marshy, you're here!" She yelled and hugged him tightly.
"Gah, too tight!" Marshall gagged at how tight Margareth had hugged him. Margareth let go with a chuckle.
"Sorry, I'm just so glad you came back!" Margareth said.
"I know, sis. I know." Marshall said. "Is my room still the way I left it years ago?" He asked.
"Oh, WAY better! C'mon!" Margareth exclaimed and rushed inside.
"Hey, wait up!" Marshall yelled and ran after her.
Upon arrival at Marshall's old room, his jaw dropped at the sight.
"Wow... you did all these decorations?" He asked.
"Mmhmm! Just for you, Marshy!" She exclaimed.
At night, back in Adventure bay, the pups were all asleep, though one of them was woken up by howling.
"Ugh, what's that noise?" Chase questioned with a yawn.
Chase went to check it out and circled around the entire Lookout perimeter, but he couldn't find anything. He was confused and did two more loops, but found nothing.
"Must be my imagination." He said and went back to bed.
The very next day, Chase began to notice that Gabriel had been eating a lot more meat than usual as he was munching down on like 8 steaks, one after another.
"That's weird. Gabriel never eats that much." Chase said, now a bit worried about what Gabriel is. The others noticed as well, but didn't think much of it. Chase had to do some investigating on that matter.
At night, when everyone went to bed, Chase put on his spy gear and waited patiently. Howling came around again so he followed it. He found a figure, but couldn't make out who it was. Eventually, Chase gave up and went to bed.
The following morning however is where things went awkward as Ryder filled up each of the pups' bowls with kibble. Gabriel took one sniff and stuck out his tongue. "Bleh! Ryder! What are ya giving me this junk for?!" He yelled out, making Kitty pull Ryder back on instinct.
"Gabriel, you need to try this. You're eating so much meat all of a sudden..." Ryder began, but was cut off when Gabriel snapped.
"NO!" He yelled and threw his bowl a meter away. "I WANT MEAT, GIVE ME MEAT TO EAT!" He screamed and made a huge tantrum, knocking everything over. Everyone watched in shock at what was happening. This time, Kitty backed away on noticing Ryder's left eyebrow shoot up, meaning he's mad.
"Whoa, talk about acting up." Rocky said.
"Yeah, that's the first time any pup ever acted like that." Zuma said.
"I'll say." Rubble said.
Chase, on the other hand, looked at the pups. "He'll get over it." He said, quickly finished up his bowl and walked out. Once outside, his thoughts kicked in again.
"First I hear howling in the night, then Gabriel eats so much meat at once, and now this? Something's suspicious around here." Chase said, determined that tonight, he would find out what in the world is going on around here.
That night, Chase got into his spy gear again when everyone went to bed and waited patiently
"He won't hide from me this time." Chase said to himself as he double-checked. After what felt like hours, He heard howling outside.
"Bingo." He said and headed outside. He followed the howling till he saw a figure.
"There he is." Chase said and began sneaking up. The howling figure didn't pay attention to who was coming up until Chase pounced.
"Ha, got you now!" Chase said.
The figure yelped in surprise. "Chase, don't! Please!" The voice yelled.
Chase looked stunned. "Gabriel?!" He asked.
"Yeah, who else?" Gabriel questioned.
Chase got off him. "What's going on here, Gabriel? And why were you howling like that?" He asked.
"Well, because that's what werewolves do." Gabriel replied.
"What do you mean by that?" Chase asked.
"See, I'm not JUST a Chow Chow pup. I'm part Werepup too." Gabriel said.
Chase's jaw dropped. "What?! No way!" He exclaimed.
"Yes way! And proud to be if I do say so myself!" Gabriel exclaimed.
Chase couldn't believe it. Gabriel being partially a werepup was all new to him. "Was that the whole reason you went on the tantrum earlier?" He then asked.
Gabriel nodded. "Yep! I can't eat anything except meat. Puppy food tastes gross to werewolves and werepuppies. Bleh!" Gabriel said, sticking his tongue out at the thought of eating such stuff.
"I guess no one knows about this, right?" Chase asked.
"Nope. Which is kind of a bummer, but I'm trying to keep my werepup side a secret." Gabriel said.
"I see. Does it benefit you being a werepup?" Chase asked.
"Why of course! Werepups have increased speed and are so strong!" Gabriel exclaimed with a smile.
"Well, why hide it? Those skills would be useful for our team." Chase stated.
"If I did that, I don't know how the pups would react." Gabriel said with a frown. "They might think I'm a freak."
"You'll never know till you try." Chase said.
"I...kinda want to keep it a secret for the time being." Gabriel said.
Chase shrugged. "Suit yourself. C'mon, let's go to bed." He said. Gabriel eagerly followed and both pups went to bed.
Little did the two know, That the following day was gonna be a test for Gabriel.
The next day, before the sun even started rising, Ryder gathered the PAW Patrol in the control room and told them of his idea to test Gabriel's skills.
"So you're saying that you will be presenting him with multiple vehicles breaking down at the same time?" Chase asked.
"That's right. And those won't be simple breakdowns, mind you. Those vehicles are at their wits' end and are rather complicating to fix." Ryder said. "In fact, Mayor Goodway said she'd provide us with most of the vehicles for this."
"Well, how do we bring the vehicles here without Gabriel seeing them before we show them to him?"Rocky asked.
"Well, that's exactly why I woke you up so early. That way, we can bring the vehicles here before Gabriel even wakes up." Ryder said with a smile.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's get to work!" Chase exclaimed before being quieted down by the others saying 'Shhh!'
And with that said, the pups went down the slide while Kitty went down the elevator, and Ryder went down the fireman's pole to their vehicles and they all took off while Gabriel was sleeping to get the required vehicles ready.
Needless to say, the pups successfully brought the broken down cars to the Lookout before Gabriel woke up.
"I sure hope he can fix these up." Zuma said.
"We'll just have to see." Ryder said.
After what seemed like an hour, Gabriel finally woke up
"Ahh, what a good night's sleep!" He said and stretched. At first, the morning was normal with yoga and breakfast, although Gabriel was surprised that all the other pups were already awake, but he didn't think much about it. And then, Gabriel heard something.
"Hey, Gabriel! Can you come behind the Lookout?" Ryder called out.
"Coming!" Gabriel yelled back and ran behind the Lookout.
When he came around, his jaw dropped at the sight of 10 vehicles.
"Um, what's this all about?" He asked.
"Well, I'd like for you to try your skills." Ryder said.
"You want me to fix these vehicles?" Gabriel asked in shock.
"Yep. Mind you, these are more tricky to fix." Ryder said.
"It's nothing I can't handle!" Gabriel exclaimed.
"We'll see."
And with that, Gabriel got to work on fixing the vehicles.
Hidden away in a bush, Rodrigo was looking at them as Gabriel was working.
"So, his name is Gabriel? Impressive." He said and went a bit of a distance away before holographically calling Antonio.
Antonio answered the call moments later. "Whatcha got, Rodrigo?" He asked.
"Apparently, the PAW Patrol is testing that pup's skills by having him repair 10 broken vehicles." Rodrigo said.
"Huh, interesting. Do you know his name yet?" Antonio spoke, just about to drink up some water.
"His name is Gabriel." Rodrigo said.
The moment he said the name, Antonio spat out his water in shock. "Wh-what did you say?" He asked.
"I said, his name's Gabriel." Rodrigo said, confused as to why Antonio was so shocked about this.
"Do you know who Gabriel is?" Antonio asked.
"Am I supposed to know?" Rodrigo spoke, now really confused.
"That's Gabriel Locksmith!" Antonio exclaimed.
"Say what?" Rodrigo spoke in surprise. "Is that something to be surprised of?" He asked.
"Don't you know the Warlock family?" Antonio asked him. "Or even your cousin?"
Now it was Rodrigo's turn to be shocked. "Y-you're joking!" He exclaimed.
"No joke, son!" Antonio exclaimed, giggling a bit at Rodrigo's state. "To be exact, he's your cousin since I am Gabriel's Uncle due to being his Father Older Brother."
"I got a family from PAW Patrol? Unbelievable!" Rodrigo finally spoke.
"Believe it, Rodrigo. Believe it." Antonio said. "I think his family would love to hear Gabriel is with the PAW Patrol." He added. "Keep a lookout on what he's doing. The time is closing in." At that last part, Antonio winked while Rodrigo quickly figured out what he meant.
"You got it." Rodrigo said and hung up the call.
Meanwhile, after about an hour, Gabriel was successfully able to fix up the vehicles, which the pups were surprised to see as Rocky would normally take hours to fix.
"Holy cow! How'd you do that, Gabriel?!" Rocky asked in surprise.
"Well, I've taught myself from a молодой (young) age." Gabriel replied.
"You know other languages too?!" Chase exclaimed.
"Yeah. In fact, I know 5 языки (languages). Apart from English and Russian, I know French, German and Spanish." Gabriel replied proudly.
"Dude, You should've been a translator!" Zuma exclaimed excitedly.
"Maybe, maybe not." Gabriel said and giggled.
One month after the fire...
It was a beautiful sunny day in Adventure Bay. Marshall had already returned to the Lookout and Everest, Jake, Tracker, and Carlos had come to visit the Paw Patrol for the day. Chase, Marshall, Zuma, and Rocky were playing tug-of-war and Rubble was taking a nap, while Skye, Everest, and Tracker were playing Pup, Pup Boogie with Tracker waiting his turn.
"Oh yeah, Pup-Pup-Boogie, now backflip." Skye yelped, flipping up in the air landing back on the dancing pad with a smile. Everest was finding this a bit annoying due to not really liking showoffs.
"Will you quit being such a show off, Skye," She whined in annoyance.
"Skye is muy bueno at Pup-Pup-Boogie, very good." Tracker said with amazement. He was sitting to the side, watching the girls face off against each other.
"Thanks, Tracker." Skye said with a small giggle. "Now, are you willing to try Pup Pup Boogie for the first time?" She asked with a smirk.
Everest stepped away from the game and smiled at Tracker, who was a bit hesitant as he stepped onto the dancing pad.
"I am nervous to try it." He confessed. "I've never been a great dancer, and you are much better than me, Skye. But, I will give it a try, because it looks so fun," He said with a shy smile.
"Yeah, that's the spirit, Tracker!" Everest encouraged him. "You are going to do just fine. If you're still nervous, you can play against me. I am not that good either." She added.
Tracker smiled and nodded before he and Skye began to play. Gabriel was with them too so he played as well.
Meanwhile, in the Lookout control room, Ryder, Kitty, Carlos, and Jake were discussing the new recruits on the Paw Patrol. Ryder decided that extra positions on the team could help it tremendously, so he had called Carlos and Jake to help him out, with Kitty tagging along taking notes for whatever reason.
"After that fire last month, I realized that there will always be many occasions when Marshall could not cover his two positions simultaneously." He started. "I don't deny that he can be trained, but unfortunately, we can see that even he can get to need medical assistance and it is also very convenient that there are two pups with that medical knowledge. I was thinking about it and I think I have the perfect candidate to be the new Medic Pup for the Paw Patrol." He said with a smile.
Kitty scribbled notes. "So, I'm guessing it's not me."
Ryder chuckled. "You're not specialized in human, or pup care." Of course, Ryder learned the lesson of sometimes needing more than one specialists in certain fields after the fire. He knew that, to help Marshall and Gabriel, it was necessary that he and Tracker take them both to Katie. If it had been something more serious, Ryder didn't want to think what could have happened. With this method, Marshall can be a little more focused on his role as a firefighter pup, and there would also be two pups with medical knowledge.
"So, did you find anyone to take his spot, little dude?" Jake asked curiously as the three boys sat at a table, with Kitty occupying Ryder's bean bag chair close by.
"Yep. It's Margareth." Ryder replied. Jake and Carlos looked at each other in surprise, while Kitty took even more notes.
"Why are you taking notes on everything I say?" Ryder asked, annoyed.
Kitty suddenly burst out laughing, then showed Ryder the 'notes' were actually her next song, titled 'The Entitled'
"Ah." Ryder said, embarrassed.
"Wait, who's Margareth?" Carlos asked, changing the subject out of kindness.
"Margareth is Marshall's older sister and she grew alongside Marshall before he came to the Paw Patrol. We met her a month ago after the fire. Alongside her medical duties, Margareth will also work with Marshall and help his clumsy tendencies. Plus, she's very good with her medic skills. Maybe even better than Marshall." Ryder explained. Jake and Carlos were confused by the statement, but just pushed it to the side, seeing that Ryder's girlfriend had understood exactly what he said and why he said it.
"The Paw Patrol will also need a searcher pup in case searching for someone gets to be too difficult." Jake spoke next. "If that should happen, I have the perfect candidate who turns out to be an old friend of Everest's. It has been a while since they went their separate ways, but I can get a hold of him."
"That sounds perfect, Jake. That's really helpful!" Ryder said, satisfied with Jake's decision. Then he looked over at Carlos. "Carlos, you got any ideas?" He asked.
"Yes, I do. The Paw Patrol will need a mechanic to help you and Rocky to build your new vehicles and gadgets for the team, and Ryder, I have the perfect candidate as well. He is a close friend of Tracker but is more of a city dog than a jungle dog. He helps build most of the stuff we have for excavations," Carlos explained happily. Ryder smiled.
"Will it be a certain Chow Chow pup that we sent with Tracker for him to relax with you?" He asked with a smile.
"Yes, it's him! You were absolutely right, Ryder. He's very smart and he loves to help everyone. " Carlos answered.
"I also have one more addition to make." Ryder began, taking a deep breath. "Kitty-"
"OMG!" Kitty got up. "Me!? Oh, Ryder-"
"Yes." Ryder rolled his eyes. "Anyway, I've felt like I've been losing my sanity these past few weeks, and having her around seems to help with that. Afterall, she's my clarity nowadays."
Now it's Kitty's turn to be embarrassed. "I-" She takes out her inhaler to help her catch her breath. "Thank you!"
Satisfied with those additions, Ryder pulled out his pup-pad. " I'll call the pups and tell them." He said and with a nod from Jake and Carlos, he pressed the 'call all' button. This caused all of the pup-tags to light up and beep.
"Paw Patrol, to the Lookout!"
"Ryder needs us!" The pups said, running to the elevator. As they ran, Marshall tripped on the tug toy and rammed straight into the pups. They all rolled into the elevator in a heap.
"Does this happen every time?" Everest asked, still feeling a bit dizzy.
"What can I say, I'm on a roll," Marshall said with a smile, making everyone laugh. as the elevator went up. The pups geared up before heading all the way up to the control room, where they leaped out and got into position, with Everest and Tracker at the side even Gabriel joined them too, but he had no gear and stood on the side for now.
"Paw Patrol, ready for action, Ryder sir!" Chase said in an authoritative tone.
"Sorry for disturbing your play time pups, but Carlos, Jake and I have found four new candidates for the Paw Patrol: a medic pup, a mechanic pup, a searcher pup, and Kitty!" Ryder said. The pups all looked at each other upon hearing this information. "Marshall, I have found the perfect pup to be the medic pup. She has always managed to have a way to care for your wounds in the past before you came to the Paw Patrol and she can help with your coordination. You'll know who it is" Ryder said.
It took a while for Marshall to realize who his leader had been talking about until it hit him like a brick in the head. "You mean...?!" Marshall exclaimed, tail wagging a bit. Ever since their encounter at the Pet Parlor, Marshall was doing his best to call his family as often as he could as a request.
"Yep. And I'm already calling her," Ryder said, smiling as he pressed a button on his pup-pad.
"You know who it is, Marshall?" Skye asked curiously.
Marshall got up from the ground as he said, "Oh, yeah. It's..." Marshall began but was interrupted as a bigger and older female Dalmatian pup appeared on the big scene of the Lookout.
"Hello." The pup spoke before seeing Marshall. "Hi there, Marshy!"
Marshall blushed lightly at the nickname. "Hi, Margareth." He said.
Margareth took her eyes from her brother for a bit and looked at Ryder. "Oh, you must be Ryder!" She said, earning a nod from the boy. "So, you finally recognized my skills as a medical pup? Thanks for inviting me to the Paw Patrol as the new medic pup. I'm preparing my baggage for my voyage to Adventure Bay right now. And you, Marshy..." Margareth glanced back at Marshall." You and I are gonna have a loooong talk when I get there, clumsy little brother. I'll make sure you become less clumsy. Bye." Margareth said before turning the call off. By now, the other pups were full of questions.
"Marshall, what did Ryder mean when he said that when your older sister arrives, she will make you less clumsy?" Everest asked curiously.
"Oh, that clumsy matter." Marshall replied, with a nervous chuckle. "I was a pawful little pup with my folks, always tripping and hurting myself. The worst incident was when I managed to make an older bully pup angry. He beated me right in front of my older sister and seeing me hurt made Margareth snap. She fiercely attacked the bully and since that day, he fears my older sister because she is overprotective of me," Marshall answered, remembering his old days. "Anyway, whenever she is around, she is always watching out for any accidents I could set off." He added with a small chuckle. The other pups were amazed.
"Margareth seems to really love you, Mawshall," Zuma said with a smile.
"Yeah, she shows her love by protecting me in the time before I went to the Paw Patrol," Marshall explained. Chase, deciding to get back on topic, turned to face Ryder.
"Who is the searcher pup, Ryder sir?" He asked curiously.
"Oh, I'm going to answer that question, Chase." Jake stepped forward. "The searcher pup is an old friend of Everest who said goodbye to her on the North Pole before she came to live with me." He said before looking at Everest. "Do you remember him, Everest?" He asked.
Everest pondered what Jake said. "I'm not sure. I do remember this Dalmatian that was always friendly to me." She said before realizing who Jake was talking about. "Jake, you don't mean him, do you?" She asked, her tail starting to wag.
"Yes, Everest. It is him." Jake replied with a laugh and nod before looking at Ryder. "Ryder, please make the call." He said.
"On it, Jake," Ryder said with a smile, pressing his pup-pad.
"I will be very delighted to meet my old friend again after so long." Everest said with a smile, jumping up and down excitedly. The pups wondered who it was, but before they could question, a Dalmatian's face appeared on the monitor.
"Is that the famous Paw Patrol that I see?" The Dalmatian said with a smile, then his eyes went wide when he saw Everest. "Wait a minute, Eve?! Is that you?" He asked excitedly, earning a nod from the husky. "How are you, girl? It's been so long that I departed from you on the Arctic! You are a member of the Paw Patrol now, I am more than pumped to be a member already now." the pup said, smiling wide. Then his eyes widened once again, and he shook his head upon realizing that he hadn't introduced himself yet. "Oh, where are my manners? You can call me Marcus."
"M-Marcus?!" Marshall looked over to Marcus and he gasped.
"Marshall?! You're in the Paw Patrol too?!" He spoke. "Good to see you, cousin!" He said. The other pups were surprised, especially Everest.
"Marshall has a cousin too?" She asked.
"Uh huh! Marshall and I knew each other before we met Eve. That is a long story." Marcus said.
"Oh, guess what? Margareth is also coming here as a medic pup!" Marshall exclaimed, tail wagging happily.
Marcus froze a bit. "Seriously?! She'll be there too?!" He asked in shock. Marshall nodded.
"That's awesome! This will be a big family reunion, especially since we can make up for all the lost time we spent far apart!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"I know!" Marshall exclaimed excitedly as well.
The other pups couldn't help but giggle as they could see that Marshall and Marcus were behaving like little puppies a little.
"When are you arriving on Adventure Bay, Marcus?" Rocky asked curiously.
"I'm arriving tomorrow, Rocky. I know all about you guys and I also have quite a sharp nose." Marcus replied before glancing at Marshall. "See you soon, Marshall." He said.
"See you, Marcus." Marshall said. The other pups wave bye to Marcus before the call ends and his face disappears from the screen. After the call was over, Rubble spoke.
"Who is going to be the next pup to join the Paw Patrol, Ryder?" He asked curiously.
"I'm going to answer that, Rubble" Carlos said, standing up. "The last new member of the Paw Patrol is a city dog and an old friend of Tracker here." He said, then he added, "And it is a pup Tracker encountered after that fire."
Rubble turned to Tracker. "What old friend is that, Tracker?" He asked curiously.
"Wait wait wait... You mean...?" Tracker realized who they were talking about and looked to Gabriel.
"Exactly, Tracker." Carlos said.
"That's awesome, Gabriel." Marshall said as he approached Gabriel and patted his shoulder. The response however, was shocking as Gabriel suddenly jumped back a bit.
"Whoa, you okay?" Marshall asked worriedly
"Y-yeah, I'm fine." Gabriel said. The others could also tell that Gabriel was acting strange, but decided not to apply pressure and to change the subject.
"So, you are going to be the new mechanic, eh?" Rocky asked, earning a nod from Gabriel, who calmed down a bit. "I have to see your skills for myself," Rocky added, eyeing the new pup critically.
"Sure, I'll do you proud." Gabriel replied before looking at his new owner and leader. "Ryder, do you have a new puphouse here on the Lookout? I was expelled from my old home in an alleyway here in Adventure Bay," He asked sadly.
Ryder smiled at the Chow Chow. "Sure, you will have a new puphouse here at the Lookout, Gabriel." He replied before giving Gabriel a purple collar that has a mechanic pup-tag with a welding torch symbol on it. "Here are your collar and pup tag, Gabriel." Ryder said before placing it around Gabriel's neck and he looked up at Ryder again while his tail wagged like crazy.
"Thanks, Ryder!" He shouted, jumping on Ryder and licking him while smiling.
"Heheheh! No problem, pup! " Ryder said, laughing. "Paw Patrol is happy to have you."
Then, Ryder pulled something out of the case on his pup-pad that looked shiny. "And I saved the best for last…" He said, making Kitty blush. "Kitty! Since you're not always a pup, instead of a pup tag, you'll have something a little different." He handed her a necklace.
"Wow! Thanks!" She gives him a quick hug, then steps back.
"Now, Kitty, Gabriel, you must recite the oath and-" Ryder began.
"Ooh! I know this one!" Kitty said,
"In dark of night, in light of day,we, the PAW Patrol, will serve Adventure bay. From runaway trains to stranded whales,we'll rush to the rescue with wagging tails. If danger is near, just give a yelp, the PAW Patrol is here to help!" Kitty and Gabriel both recited the PAW Patrol Pledge
"Um, okay. That's done, I guess." Ryder said, a little taken aback that they already knew the oath.
Later in the afternoon, Tracker was chatting with Gabriel and Everest. Skye, Chase, Zuma, and Marshall were playing Pup Pup Boogie while Rubble and Rocky were playing tug-of-war.
"So, Gabriel amigo, how are you liking life here at the Lookout?" Tracker asked with a smile.
"Trackie old friend, I love acción in many forms. I can't wait to use my sagesse of mechanics to ayudha the Paw Patrol," Gabriel said happily.
"Stop using that nickname! I don't like it, Gabriel!" Tracker said with an annoyed eye roll. "My name is plain and simple- Tracker."
"Sorry, Tracker, but that kind of stuck. You know I like to tease you and your bilingual language," Gabriel said, laughing.
Tracker huffed a bit, but Everest decided to change the subject -before Tracker got upset for real- by asking, "Gabriel, how were you so gifted with making high tech stuff?"
"I learned by observing where my parents once worked." Lance explained. "My late mom and dad were both rich guard dogs in a shop full of things that were scrapped to make new ones," Everest and Tracker could tell how proud of himself Gabriel actually was.
"I am so sorry that your dad and mom both died." Everest sympathized as she patted Gabriel on the back with her paw. Gabriel looked down at the thought of his mom and dad gone, but smiled at her lightly nonetheless.
At that moment, Jake could be heard calling from a distance. "Everest, it's time to go! Come on, girl!" He shouted.
"Coming, Jake!" She yelled back before turning back to her group. "Well, it's time for me to go. It was a pleasure to meet you, Gabriel." Everest said as she extended her paw.
"The pleasure is all mine, Everest." Gabriel said as he shook Everest's paw. Once the paw shake was over, Everest walked over to Jake and both left. At the same time, Carlos was walking out of the Lookout and he waved to Tracker.
"Come on, Tracker! It's time to return to the jungle! It's getting late!" Carlos said, walking up to Tracker.
"Awww, do I have to go? I want mucho to stay with my amigo!" Tracker whined, lowering his ears. Even if Gabriel teased him sometimes, Tracker enjoyed his company.
Carlos chuckled a bit. "Come on, pup. Mandy is waiting for us. We have spent a lot of time away from the jungle," He stated.
Tracker wanted to say something, but Gabriel stepped in and cut him off.
"You have to go, Tracker. He is your propriétaire as much as Ryder is my proprietario now." Gabriel said
Tracker smiled lightly, knowing Gabriel was right. As much as he wanted to stay, Carlos was Tracker's owner. So he said, "Okay, but you have to talk to me through the pup tag."
Gabriel smiled. "Deal. See you soon, Tracker." Gabriel said.
Carlos and Tracker departed to go back to the jungle When they did, Ryder approached the remaining pups."Well, pups. It's time to watch Apollo the super pup, then go straight to bed." He said. "Tomorrow is a big day for us, and especially for Marshall," He added. The pups, except for Gabriel, howled and ran inside. Gabriel followed behind, confused about what Ryder said.
"Who is Apollo the super pup?" He asked curiously. "I haven't seen or even heard about that show before."
Rubble stared at Gabriel in shock. "You've never seen Apollo the super pup before, Gabriel?!" "Well, Apollo is the best super dog ever! It's a little strange that you never knew him." It was hard to imagine someone having never seen his favorite show, but still, it was possible to happen.
"Well, I didn't have an owner since my old owner left me and moved away." Gabriel said, whining sadly.
"Come on then. It's time to introduce our new comrade to Apollo the super pup." Marshall said with a smile, placing his paw on Gabriel's back. Gabriel jumped at the touch, surprising Marshall in the process. "What's wrong, Gabriel?" He asked.
"Nothing, Marshall. It's just- never mind. Let's just watch the show." Gabriel said, walking towards the TV. Marshall was now much more concerned about Gabriel, but pushed it aside for now.
Once Gabriel briefly saw Rocky, he started to think that he has seen Rocky once before but couldn't think where
-Flashback-
Little Rocky was walking down the street all dirty and wounded from the fact that he was beaten by hooligans and he did not know where to go and when suddenly two adult voices called him
"Hey pup," someone said to him. Rocky turned around and got scared. "Don't be afraid, we won't hurt you," said the female pup, making Rocky calm down under her voice and approaching them. "Come with us" Rocky without hesitation followed them and came to some place.
Two dogs took Rocky to some house and when he entered, he liked this place very much and he saw a puppy that looked like him, only he was a mixed breed of chow chow and a werewolf a little more, he had brown fur and big teeth, furry ears, a tuft fur on the body, fluffy shaggy tail, black muzzle and black spot on his back.
Gabriel, seeing a new guest, went to meet him.
"Hi, who are you?" Gabriel asked
"I'm Rocky. And you?" Rocky answered
"I'm Gabriel. What happened to you?" Gabriel asked again
"I was beaten up by some hooligans because of my fear of water and they said that I'm a slob!" Rocky answered crying a little.
Gabriel was angered and upset by this answer. He did not understand how this could be done with such a sweet and poor pup.
"Don't worry. Here you will be safe."
"Is that True?" Rocky couldn't believe his ears? "Can I live with your family"
"Of course, Rocky" Gabriel hugged the mixed breed and he answered him in response.
"Thank you, Gabriel."
"Not at all, Rocky"
Several days passed, Rocky got used to Gabriel's house and he felt something pleasant and strange that he had never felt. When he looks at Gabriel and his parents, they look alike, but he is not his their son and Gabriel's brother, but he feels that he is becoming one. He played with Gabriel, was fond of his inventions, helped Samuel and Carolina as much as he could, and they helped him, and then everyone realized that Rocky was like a part of them, that is, their son. Rocky was very happy to be with them.
One day, Rocky was walking towards the bedroom of Samuel and Carolina when he heard Carolina's sweet voice inviting him
"Rocky, dear, come here for a minute, my husband and I need to talk to you!" Carolina invited
And so Rocky entered their bedroom looking at the male adult Chow-Chow and the female adult Werepup anxiously
"Am I in trouble? Is it because I hit Gabriel really hard" Rocky asked
"No Rocky, you aren't in trouble for that, Gabriel needs to toughen up. In fact, it seems that your presence makes our son comfortable to be around with." Samuel answered
"I and my husband noticed that Gabriel is starting to look at you like a brother so we came to a decision and we would like to adopt you as our adoptive son, my dear Rocky" Carolina proposed
"Me, being your adopted son even though we do have nothing in common, I do accept because I have began to see Gabriel as a truly unique pup, to be a very smart pup and he indeed care about me as my ideal Step-Brother!" Rocky said jumping up and down
-End Flashback-
The show started and all the pups were very excited to see the new episode of their favorite superhero. The episode showed Apollo saving a pup that was abandoned by his owner and Gabriel was immediately shocked by the coincidence.
"Poor pup, I know what it feels like." Gabriel thought to himself sadly. The pup in the episode told everything that happened and Gabriel felt a deep sadness inside because he knew what it was like to be abandoned by the person you thought would be like a parent, but instead proved to be anything other than that. He needed a breather.
"Sorry, I need to go out for a second." Gabriel said as he stepped out of the lookout, feeling sad.
Outside, Gabriel started to cry. He could not take what happened when he was abandoned by his owner away from his mind. Sure, it was a long time, but that memory was still present in his mind and sometimes even in his dreams.
"... Gabriel," His train of thoughts was interrupted by a voice from behind. The Chow Chow turned around and saw Marshall watching him with a sympathetic expression. The Dalmatian approached Gabriel to see if he was alright. "Gabriel, are you okay?" Marshall asked.
Gabriel, not wanting Marshall to see that he was crying, quickly wiped away his tears and gave a small smile to the Dalmatian. "Yes. I was just taking a breath of air." He spoke, surprisingly able to convince Marshall that everything was fine. "Good. Do you want to go back inside?" Marshall asked.
"Sure." Gabriel replied happily as both headed back inside. Luckily, Gabriel didn't miss much and got in position just in time to see the second episode and a fight between Apollo and the Spider King.
"Whoa, a new episode already?" Gabriel exclaimed.
"Yep! Apollo always defeats Spider king!" Rubble replied excitedly. Gabriel couldn't help but giggle at Rubble's excitement and continued watching with the other pups. After Apollo the Super pup was over, the pups all headed to their pup houses. Everyone got ready for bed and fell asleep, except for Gabriel who was thinking of something.
"Why do I always flinch when Marshall touches me? And why am I so nervous around him? It's like I've seen him before, but I can't put my paw on it." He thought to himself before falling asleep as well.
The next morning, Chase woke up early as he usually did and began waking the other pups up using his megaphone, or in Marshall and Rubble's case, spoon and bowl trick. Once they all woke up, they discovered Gabriel wasn't with them.
"I'm surprised that Gabriel isn't awake yet." Chase said.
"He probably couldn't sleep last night." Rocky assumed.
"Well, let's go check his puphouse." Skye suggested.
They headed to Gabriel's puphouse and Rocky knocked on the door. No one answered and there was no movement. Rocky tried to knock again, but got the same response. Chase was about to open the door when...
"Dudes, look!" Zuma shouted, getting the pups attention. The pups turned to where Zuma was looking and were all stunned at what they saw.
They saw Gabriel a fair distance away from them, taking a Battle Ready stance with his left front paw up front and in front of him was a training dummy.
"What is Gabriel doing?" Rocky whispered, not wanting to interrupt.
"I dunno, but it's totally cool." Zuma whispered back.
They continued to watch Gabriel practice in their quite familiar style.
"Whoa, are you pups seeing what I am?" Zuma asked quietly.
"Yeah, it's like Pup-Fu." Marshall whispered.
Gabriel had just finished his training and turned around. "Oh, good morning, amigos." He greeted them.
"Good morning." The pups replied.
"Gabriel, what you were doing back then was incredible!" Rubble exclaimed.
"Huh, what do you mean, Rubble?" Lance asked. But no sooner did he ask, Gabriel realized what he meant and blushed lightly. "Oh... you pups saw what I was doing, huh?" He asked.
The pups all nodded in approval.
"So, what kind of a Pup-Fu style was that?" Rubble asked excitedly.
Gabriel giggled a bit at seeing how excited Rubble was, then replied, "The Counter of the Swan."
The pups all looked at each other in confusion.
"We never heard of that one. What is 'The Counter of the Swan?'" Marshall asked.
"Well..." Gabriel started. "The Counter of the Swan is a countering type of Pup-Fu Style. My family taught me how to do it and it's the only family heirloom I have." He explained. The other pups were in awe.
"I never knew Pup-fu could be used in such a way!" Rubble exclaimed.
"Yeah, not even we knew about it, even after basics!" Chase added. It was at that moment that Gabriel realized something.
"Wait a second... You all know Pup-Fu?" He asked in surprise.
"Totally, dude!" Zuma exclaimed. "Sensei Yumi taught us all about it, but Marshall here is the best one out of all of us!" He exclaimed, making the Dalmatian blush.
"Awww, c'mon Zuma!" Marshall exclaimed.
"But it's true!" Skye spoke. "Among all of us, you're the only one who can be 'as quiet as a mouse'!" She exclaimed.
Gabriel tilted his head in confusion. "'Quiet as a mouse'? What does that mean?" He asked.
"Well, that basically means that Marshall comes out of nowhere and when you least expect it!" Rocky exclaimed.
"Yeah, it's like when I use my spy gear! Well, except for the fact that I always forget to hide my tail." Chase exclaimed, chuckling nervously.
Gabriel actually laughed a bit, finding that a bit funny. "You forget to hide your tail, Chase?"
Chase blushed a bit, but nodded.
"Maybe we could do some Pup-Fu! I challenge you to a Pup-Fu match!" Marshall exclaimed.
Gabriel did seem a bit nervous in front of Marshall, but was hiding it so no one would notice and simply nodded. "Okay, show me what you got!" Gabriel exclaimed, taking his 'The Counter of the Swan' Pup-Fu pose while Marshall took his regular one. The two began their little battle and seemed to be evenly matched, especially since LGabriel's Pup-fu style allowed Gabriel to be quicker than Marshall's punches as he was able to dodge and block each blow. After 10 minutes, they were done and panting.
"Phew! That Pup-Fu style is awesome! Think you could teach me how to do that?" Marshall asked, now eager to learn the new style of Pup-Fu.
Gabriel giggled, but was in for a surprise when the other pups asked him to learn that style. Gabriel could only nod.
"Alright, Only after breakfast." Gabriel said and was about to head inside when...
"Hold on!"
Gabriel stopped and looked back. "What is it, Chase?" He asked.
"No one's getting breakfast until we do yoga." He said.
Gabriel was a bit stunned. "You pups do yoga?" He asked.
"Yep! C'mon and try it!" Chase exclaimed.
Gabriel could only nod as he joined the pups in doing yoga. What Gabriel found kinda interesting was the fact that Marshall fell asleep during yoga, causing him to giggle a bit.
"Does this happen often?" He asked.
"Yep. And Skye always jokes about Marshall doing the 'sleeping pup'." Rocky replied. They all giggled a bit.
"Mawshall always does that so Wocky or Skye usually need to wake him up." Zuma spoke. Gabriel was a bit confused about Zuma's speaking as he was talking differently from the other pups.
"What's with the speech, Zuma? You don't talk like us." Gabriel said. Zuma blushed a little when he realized that Gabriel doesn't understand his situation.
"Well... That's just the pwoblem. You see, I have a speech impediment. I'm unable to pronounce my 'R's weight." he admitted, blushing deep red.
Gabriel was surprised. "Speech impediment? Never heard of it." He stated.
"Yep. And because of his speech, Zuma was often bullied by stray dogs. Just like Rocky was bullied for his breed." Chase stated
Rocky blushed a bit. "C'mon, Chase!"
"But it's true, Rocky. You came home every day with bruises. I think Marshall made you confess that time." Chase pointed out.
"Heheh, yeah he did." Rocky replied, remembering the time Marshall pointed his water cannons at him to get him to confess. "He would've sprayed me with water had I not told him."
"What's so bad about the water, Rocky? All pups like water, even I do." Gabriel wondered.
"Well, not me." Rocky replied.
Chase walked up to Gabriel and whispered, "Rocky's afraid of water."
Gabriel was stunned yet again. "Aquaphobia? Gee, that's new to me." He said.
Meanwhile, inside the Lookout Tower, Ryder and Kitty were on the couch, watching a horror movie, just because Ryder wanted to watch.
"Yikes! Maybe we should watch something less scary…" Kitty said, shivering.
"A-are you s-scared?" Ryder asked, wide eyed. "Because I'm n-not!"
"No, I'm not scared." Kitty said
The two shifted closer. "On second thought, why don't we watch the news or something?"
Kitty immediately grabbed the remote and turned the TV off. "Let's go do something else entirely, I need to wipe that from my memory."
Ryder got up. "What should we do?"
"I don't, know, like watch a sunset or something?" Kitty straightened her vest.
"Wanna grab some hot chocolate first?" Ryder walked into the kitchen.
They got their hot chocolate and went outside.
The pups, upon hearing them come outside, decided to spy.
"I thought they were watching a movie?" Gabriel asked.
"They were." Chase responded.
"Ooh, watching the sunset, how romantic!" Skye crooned.
They went silent to watch.
After getting comfortable, Ryder spoke. "It's kind of romantic sitting out here isn't it?"
"Yeah." Kitty blushed, then feeling flirty replied. "You know what would make this more romantic?"
"Yeah, I do." Ryder shifted closer.
They were quiet for a while, not knowing who was gonna make the first move.
"Are you gonna kiss me or not?" Ryder said, quoting one of his favorite songs.
Kitty leaned in, and they kissed.
"AWW!" Skye whisper shouted.
"I knew it!" Rocky wagged his tail.
"I guess they're officially a couple now, huh?" Rubble asked.
"Yeah, dude! They kissed!" Zuma playfully swatted Rubble.
Ryder and Kitty snuggled up together, side by side, to watch the sunset.
