Chapter Ten – The Mighty Sorcerer
Everyone panicked, but Sukko just frowned. He was expecting something big from Riverton and the Isle of Avalon, but not this big. He expanded out his Telepathy, and got the evil laughter of a heavily corrupted Lizard, but nothing from the Black Magic cast beneath him. He growled.
"What is that?" He spat. He ran for the front door hoping to peer around the side of the Palace and get a good view. The monstrosity that Riverton had brought with him, was indeed monstrous. A least thirty feet tall, whose head his taller the highest point of the Palace, the deadly Black Magic cast was now striding across the land from the ocean, now streaming heavily behind him. A enormous creature seemed to be constructed entirely from living flames. He had a head, arms, torso, and legs, and had extremely high, red raw, scorching hot fire, beating out from it's back. Bright red eyes bored down on the ground below, and the skin of the beast seemed to be jet black, but heavily cracked with bright orange lava, a trail of which it left behind it.
Riverton beamed, as the Lizard was precariously perched on the monster's left shoulder, ready to order to the Sorcerer's destruction. Upon setting eyes with it, the colour immediately left the Blue Hedgehog, only but be immediately grabbed by Everglade and forcibly pulled back into the Palace. He was swearing. He panicked.
"That's a Fire Golem." He spat, unable to believe his eyes, having glimpsed the monster for himself. He began to pace. "This is not good." He gulped. But Blaze growled at him, encouraging him to move one, as she was non the wiser and more importantly, neither was Sukko. Everglade sighed. "Fire Golem's are Elementals, and in Wizard Magic, they can be summoned in two ways. Light, using the normal methods, and Dark, using Black Magic. There are many Elementals, of which Fire Golem's are one of, Earth Giants and Ice Fairies being some others. Light Elementals are not normally very large, a maximum of around six feet tall, and are naturally defensive, used for protection rather then fighting. To defeat them is relatively straightforward. You just cast their opposite element at them. Earth and Air, Water and Lightning, and..." As he paused, looking deeply at Sukko, who looked up. "Fire and Ice." He spat, but suddenly the Sorcerer got incredibly defensively. Truthfully, he was frightened. He'd never faced anything like before in his life. He gulped, deeply, he looked down, bitting his lip.
"I can't conjure Ice." He admitted, to a now silenced Palace. "I have been trying for years, and never succeeded." He growled. But Everglade rounded on him. He blinked at Sukko.
"What." He spat. "How could you not be able to conjure Ice? It's one of easiest casts taught in the Order. Every single student knows how to do it." He spat but the Sorcerer just growled.
"Because, Everglade, the extremely wild nature of pure Chaos Sorcery doesn't really lend itself to conjuring something as hard and as cold as ice. I suspect that casting from a relic such as a crystal might be easier, considering that it already has those attributes." He grilled, but Everglade just wasn't believing him. He whimpered.
"But you can do anything." He stammered, almost desperate but this just caused Sukko's temper to explode, the purple aura swirling. He roared back at the Skunk, his emotions running high.
"Back off." He snapped. "No, I can't. No Blue Hedgehog can. Sonikku, my brother, is considered by many as not just the Hero of Mobius, the greatest hero in the entire galaxy, and even he can't to everything. He doesn't have Super-Strength and it's been the biggest bane of his entire life." He growled, then immediately he heaved, instantly calming his enormous anger, returning to normal. He smirked. "It didn't stop him from winning, did it." He sniggered, of which all Everglade could do was nod in agreement. The Sorcerer did have a point. But Arthur was trembling in absolutely terror, as the Fire Golem was getting closer to the Palace, of which it could now been seen through the roof windows. He pointed upwards.
"That thing's way bigger then six feet." He stammered. Of which Everglade just sighed, nodding. He heaved.
"That's because it a Dark Fire Golem. A monster made of the purest Black Magic. Still an Elemental, but everything has been super enhanced, including it's size, strength, attacks and defences, and I mean defences. A Dark Fire Golem can't been destroyed with ice, it's just too strong." He stammered. Sukko immediately looked up, just as Blaze asked Everglade before he did. She frowned.
"So if you don't destroy it with ice, then how do you destroy it?" She spat. It was clear that she wanted the thing gone from her kingdom. Everglade looked absolutely terrified. He gulped.
"You fight Fire with Fire. But not just any fire, Princess, the fabled Blue Flames. When used again a Dark Fire Golem, they burn hotter and longer then any other fire, and thus significantly increase the rate which the fuel is consumed by Fire Golem, ultimately destroying it. Otherwise, they can last for days. Fire Golems gets it heat from fuel, or in in the case of a Dark Fire Golem, blood, hence their rather red flames. The more blood, the bigger the Fire Golem." He stammered. "But they burn the traditional way, but the fire must be maintained through Magic. Blue Flames are different. It is fire made of the purest of Magic, no additions whatsoever. It is the most difficult cast in all of Chaos Sorcery to do. It was long considered the ultimate weapon in Magic, hundreds have died attempting and failing this cast. Even myself have tried and failed, to the point where I have never seen it done successfully, and now properly never will." He admitted. Suddenly, tears ran down his face. He sniffed. "I'm sorry, but we're done for." He cried, as silence filled the Palace.
But Sukko just smirked, behind his hand over his mouth. It had been hiding the huge realisation that he could actually do this. During Everglade's explanation, his jaw had just dropped, it hitting the floor so hard, that it hurt badly, and now he was rapidly formulating a plan to end this, now. Was he going to tell them, no. Simply because they knew exactly what they do. Try and stop him.
Suddenly, without saying a word, the Sorcerer just vanished and the sudden banging and crashing all across the Palace immediately told Blaze that they were being locked in. Blue Telekinesis everywhere. Every door barricaded, every window barred. In terror, she immediately ran to the front door, and tried to open them. Nothing. Even Everglade tried casting on them and got nothing, and soon they spotted a shimmering blue shield slivering across the entire Palace. A Magical Seal. They were trapped. She ran to the window, and saw the Sorcerer walking out away from them, alone, his long black coat blowing in the winds behind him, towards Dark Fire Golem. She screamed, bashing on the window.
"Sukko!" She bellowed only to have the Blue Hedgehog look back at her, then carry on. Blaze then fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face, now fearing the absolute worse. Even the others began to cry as they watched the mighty Sorcerer walk out onto the battlefield and to his death.
Just because Sukko knew how to defeat the Dark Fire Golem, didn't mean it was going to be easy. He was going to have the push his Chaos Sorcery to the absolute limit, with a significant chance of him not surviving. He sniffed as he walked, his thoughts turning to his brother, still sleeping safely in the Palace. For the very first time, they had swapped places. Instead on Sonic being about to battle the Boss to the death, it was Sukko. The Sorcerer had always been fully prepared to bury his brother, if he ever came home feet first. That was the risk with these fights. Every single battle with Eggman could have cost Sonic his life, but still Sukko let him go.
But not only did Sonic always survive, but he then went on to win, and now it was the Sorcerer's turn. He was now desperate to make the famous Hero of Mobius proud of him, just like he was, but he was also incredibly worried of how Sonic would cope without him. He wasn't as mentally strong as the Sorcerer, and Sukko could foresee him seriously struggling to cope. But Sonic was a real Hero, he didn't deserve such anguish. Sukko gritted his teeth as he ran for the Fire Golem, just as he came with striking distance of the Palace. He heaved.
'Don't fail.' He screamed in his thoughts, and right there and then, he couldn't have cared less about the Sol Empire. There was something more important in his life worth fighting for in that Palace. His twin.
Riverton was roaring with laughter as his walked his enormous monstrous creation towards the Palace. He was surprised at the Palace's absolutely pristine condition, despite the proceeding battle but that fact that there was no one to be seen, meant one thing. The Lizard beamed in his evil darkness, that they were all dead. Dusk was falling all around them, as the Lizard finally declared his finally attack on the Sol Empire. The ordered the first strike on the Palace.
Obediently, the Dark Fire Golem raised his lava dripping arm and swung it down towards the Palace. Blaze, Everglade and Arthur, all of whom could see this through the Great Hall's roof windows screamed. Suddenly, a figure ran across the roof above them, his long black coat fanning out behind him, and suddenly the Fire Golem arm seemed to stop in mid-air, it surrounded by bright blue luminescent vapour-like hue. The Fire Golem bore down on the Palace, but it's arm was going nowhere, as Sukko stood firm, pushing his Telekinesis to the limit, his hands above his head, his fingers out splayed. He screamed as the intense hand of the Fire Golem began to badly burn him, and begin to melt parts of the Palace. Sukko had wrapped his Telekinesis around the fire monsters limp and was pushing it back with everything he had. It was only then Riverton, finally saw him, as the Palace roof and windows began to buckle under the mighty Sorcerer's feet. Blaze panted.
"Come on, Sukko." She squealed as the Fire Golem pushed down even further on the Blue Hedgehog. The Palace buckled but it and it's Magical seal held firm, and Sukko used it as a platform to give everything he had. But Riverton just laughed.
"You can not win. Sorcerer." He leered, but got silence in return. If the Lizard was expecting an angry retort in reply, he didn't one. He was talking to the wrong Blue Hedgehog. He was fighting the strong, but silent brother, not the extremely noisy Blue Blur. Sukko smirked, as he just gritted his teeth and let his Magic completely consume him. Suddenly everything glowed a vivid bright blue, shining deeply in the darkness that now surrounded them. His eyes, his hands, even his tattoos shone, as he lit up the entire Palace roof. Suddenly, he pushed off from the Palace roof, and into thin air, as he expertly combined the different Chaos Powers he processed. His father's Super-Flight, and his mother's Chaos Sorcery. Two people, he knew, who loved each other very much.
Pushing the power, further and further, his almighty temper flaring, finally, and to the absolutely astonishment of everyone watching, including Riverton's, Sukko roared, now with his Illusionary lightning landing all around them, he pushed the Fire Golems arm's backwards and away from the Palace, almost knocking the almighty monster off it's feet. It stumble backwards, the Lizard only barely clinging onto it's shoulder. Something no one even believed possible. Blaze smirked, but Everglade was gobsmacked. He gasped.
"The power." He stammered. "How?" He gulped, but the Princess just smiled. She'd seen that power before, and immediately recognised it. The feel, the strength. She looked at him. She giggled.
"It runs in the family." She beamed, as they all turned and looked at the room of the sleeping Blur Blur. Sukko was brother of the mighty Hero of Mobius, the wielder of the seven Chaos Emeralds, and now, he was proving it. Growled with anger like nothing before, the Sorcerer rose up high into the air and level with the Riverton, the last Wizard of the Order of Elden. Now face-to-face, the Lizard faltered.
"That's not possible." He stammered, but Sukko was beyond angry, as now he entered the pure Chaos Sorcery equivalent of the Chaos Emerald Super Form. Instead of going his brother's beautiful glistening gold, with ruby eyes, Sukko went vivid pale blue, with light pouring from his heart, and his long black coat, now a stunning shimmering silver, his eyes a deep rich blue.
Sukko pure anger was letting still more Illusionary lightning to fall, forcing Riverton to dodge out of the way. He knew he could match his brother like this, he had to power, but how long could be maintained it and what were the consequences? Sukko dreaded to think but right then, he didn't care, as the Dark Fire Golem swung for him again. The threw his hand out the side and caught the almighty swing in his Telekinesis. Teeth gritted, eyes bared, he hovered completely still in the air, and Sukko then closed his fist, and swung back at the almighty Golem, the mighty Telekinesis hitting the monster hard in the torso, sending it toppling backwards again.
Riverton was stunned, desperately sending the Fire Golem in again, even casting his own Magic at the Sorcerer. The Sukko's power was so great that the Lizard's Magic just bounced off of him, leaving him unscathed. Soon the Riverton was beginning to tire, as he made the Fire Golem to swung again, and again at the Sorcerer, him catching then fending the monster off. Sukko smirked, he'd been looking out for that, despite his own intense fatigue. He had to end this fight and soon, and knew he had one last burst of power in the tank to finish this. Suddenly Riverton roared in frustration, panting heavily.
"You can't win against a Dark Fire Golem. Only the fabled Blue Flames can achieved that." He hissed evilly, knowing the mighty Sorcerer couldn't keep this up for much longer. Even he suffered with drain, and suspected the Sorcerer could potentially die here, if pushed far enough. Sukko smirked, it now quickly broadening. He was well aware that and but again said nothing.
Heaving himself, he held out his hand ahead of him and suddenly, the snapped the fingers, but left the thumb sticking up. A top of the thumb, was a singular bright Blue Flame, burning brightly, yet leaving Sukko's glove underneath completely untouched. The Lizard squealed in fright. The most difficult cast in all of Chaos Sorcery, and the Blue Hedgehog had done with nothing more then a simple snap of a finger. Now outgunned and outmatched, Riverton tried to flee, but the Dark Fire Golem wasn't leaving.
Suddenly, Sukko flicked the wrist of the hand, ensuring the singular blue flame, hit the centre of the palm of his hand. Suddenly it turned into a ball of bright blue fire, four inches across, hovering just above his palm. Then with another gesture, Sukko grabbed the ball of blue flames with his other hand and cross them. He screamed the pain, as the intense heat, badly burned him. He manipulated the fire to suddenly completely surrounded him, engulfing him completely. Pushing the Magic, within the sphere of blazing hot blue fire, he rammed straight for the torso of the Fire Golem. The sphere of blue fire punched straight through the monster, both the ball of blue flames and Hedgehog within disappearing inside. It caused all of the red flames and dripping lava to suddenly burn bright blue.
It screamed, violently spasming and shaking as all of its fuel, the blood of a hundred Wizard students was burned up in seconds. Riverton screamed, as suddenly the bright red crystal atop his mighty staff shattered, and he himself exploded into jet black dust, the Order of Elden no more.
The Dark Fire Golem fought Sukko until it's very end, it exploded in a enormous mushroom cloud of dust, light, and streams and red and blue frames, screaming horrendously. Suddenly, it was gone, the immense cloud of ashes blowing in the wind gusting in from the across the ocean, not far away.
Finally, all was quiet.
Inside the Palace everyone was shaking, Blaze desperate looking through any window she could for her new but now very precious friend. Suddenly, the bright blue shimmer on the Magical seal on the Palace began to violently shake and suddenly vanish, as did all the seals. They were free.
Blaze, Everglade and Arthur all ran outside and to the scene of the fight, to find nothing but burned smouldering earth and dust. Calm, still, no signs of anything. Everglade was streaming with tears.
"Sukko?" He sniffed, but Blaze wasn't convinced. She knew the family, and failure wasn't the Blue Hedgehog way. She fully understood that with Sonic, but what of Sukko? She'd only known him barely a week and realised one simple thing. He was very different. She frowned and suddenly her eyes widened. She turned and ran, extremely quickly, back the the Palace. Through the front doors and down multiple corridors and rooms, until she was outside a simple room, whose Magical seal was no longer there. She was followed by a confused Everglade and Arthur.
Blaze grabbed the door, and burst through, to find, nothing. Sonic was still there, happily sleeping away, completely none the wiser. His head was buried deep into his pillow, sucking his thumb. Blaze checked him over. The Blue Blur had no idea what happened. He purred at her. Everglade wondered over and confirmed her findings. He was fine. He frowned.
"I don't understand." He puzzled. Blaze smiled, looking up at him. She sighed.
"The twins are close, extremely close. I don't know how far their power extends. Can one survive without the other?" She frowned. Everglade just shrugged. She heaved. "The fact that Sonic is safe and well is a good thing. If Sukko had perished, Sonic would immediately know, and be either dead or devastated." She sighed. Suddenly, the singular burning candle next to Sonic's bed began to flicker. The bright yellow flame dancing left and right. Then, out of nowhere, it changed becoming strong and steady, the flame now a vivid bright blue. Everglade's jaw dropped, and he picked to the candle and held it between himself and the Princess. But Blaze just smiled, her eyes rolling.
The Sorcerer was alive.
