Chapter 2 - Friends
When Naruto woke, everything from yesterday was still fresh in his mind. He looked at his clock and it said 05.30. 'Perfect, maybe i can catch dad before he leaves for work' He went to his bathroom to freshen up and then left his room to go downstairs.
He was quite excited this morning, he even formed a small layer of ice on the handrail of the staircase to try out his newfound ability hyoton. 'This should be fun' he thought and then proceeded to jump up on the handrail to glide downstairs on his butt. He picked up quite a lot of speed even if it was just a small distance and flew off the handrail towards the ever so precious cabinet. He did some quick thinking and made an acrobatic maneuver to land on his feet. He landed just inches away from his mom and dads cabinet where they keep all the family photos. He swallowed hard 'maybe i should not use hyoton inside, at least not in that way. If I destroyed the cabinet, mother would have my head'. He was so caught up in his shenanigans that he did not notice his mother standing behind him with her arms crossed staring at him.
'That's unusual, I almost never see him so excited' Kushina thought with a smile on her face as she saw her son flying down the stairs and almost crashing into their cabinet where they kept all of the family albums and other family related things.
"Sooo..i see you are up and about early today". Naruto slowly turned towards where the voice was coming from. He saw his mom standing there staring at him with her arms crossed.'oh shit' Naruto thought. Kushina could see the horrid expression on her son's face and felt amused 'not everyday you see him scared shitless, this reminds me that he is still just eight years old. And not some cold blooded killer'.
She thought about letting him sweat a bit, but decided against it. "Its alright Naruto, i'm not mad" she smiled and looked at him. "You should refrain from using techniques like that inside though. I would love to keep our family home intact."
"I promise i wont do stuff like that again inside the house mom" Naruto said as he let go of a breath he was holding. His mother could be a very scary person when she wanted to be. She was the only one able to make his father turn into a scared little cat, when she wanted to. His father would never admit that though.
"Mom, why is dad not home?" Naruto wondered. Usually his father did not go to work
until 06.00.
"He went to the office early. He said he had some important business to attend" Kushina said. "He told me to tell you that he wanted you to come by sometime during the day. Had something he wanted to talk to you about"
'I wonder what he wants to talk to me about, must be about the mission' Naruto thought. "Great, i have something i want to ask dad anyway" Naruto said as he started to move towards the kitchen to make some breakfast. He only had a small breakfast as he does not like to work out with a full stomach, and he was going to train right after he visited his dad. 'Itachi and Shisui are going to flip when they see my ice release,' Naruto thought.
"I'm leaving now mom! I will be home later tonight. Going to train with Itachi and Shisui today" Naruto said as he opened the front door.
"Cya later Naruto, and don't do anything stupid. You are still under investigation, remember?" Kushina yelled out from the living room. "And say hi to the Uchiha boys from me".
"Yes mom, i will behave i promise" he said and left for the hokage tower.
When Naruto entered the hokage tower he noticed there were more people there than usual. 'I wonder who all these people are, I don't recognize them' Naruto wondered. He walked towards his dad's office and saw his secretary outside looking busy filing through a pile of papers. He walked up to her "Hi there miss secretary, i'm here to see the hokage"
She looked down over her desk and saw Naruto standing there looking up at her. She felt a shiver going up her spine, the hokage's son always gave her the creeps and she did not know why. "Why hello there Naruto", she always tried to sound kind to him as he was always kind and respectful towards her. Except he never used her real name for whatever reason and that bothered her a bit. "You know my name is Aimi, you should try and use it sometime" she said as she winked at the creepy 8 year old shinobi. In her eyes Naruto was a good boy, but he had this aura about him she could not explain. It made her a bit scared of him in some way. But she always tried to push away that feeling. "I will check if the hokage is not bussy, he has a lot of visitors today".
She went to knock on the door and when there was no answer, she opened the door and went inside the office to check on the hokage. "Hokage-sama, your son is here to see you" she got no response from the hokage, he looked like he was in deep meditation. "Hokage-sama?" she asked again.
"Huh?. Aimi-san? I'm sorry did you say something?" Minato said as he "woke" up from his meditation. "Your son is here to see Hokage-sama," She said.
"Ah yes, you can send him in. Thank you Aimi-san" He smiled at her. She just smiled back, nodded and went back outside to fetch Naruto.
"Naruto-sama, the hokage is ready to see you now" She told the small child and opened the door for him. "Thank you Aimi-chan" he answers and winks at her before entering the office.
'Chan?. He is a strange kid that one. She thought a bit amused as she watched him go. 'He never used my name, and now the first time he does he adds -chan. He must be in an especially good mood today'.
Naruto entered the office and saw his father sitting by his desk looking at some papers with a frown on his face. "Hi dad" Naruto said as he made his presence known.
'Dad? He almost never calls me that, he either calls me father or lord hokage' Minato mused. The hokages' mood changed completely in the span of a few seconds and he beamed with joy. He figured his son was in a really good mood, and that would make it much easier to talk to him. Naruto saw this and wondered what could change his fathers mood so quickly.
"Hello there Naruto-kun, it's great you came early as i have a lot of meetings today with traders from iron country. They have traveled a long way, so I would think they are not inclined to be kept waiting". He said as he watched his son make his way to the chair in front of his desk. Naruto sat down on the chair and just sat there quietly for a little while looking down at the floor, he was a little nervous and that usually never happened so he was not sure how to handle it. Minato said nothing as he wanted to give his son some time, he saw he was nervous and that amused him a bit. His son never acted this way towards him, his mother yes but never towards him. So Minato told himself he would savor this feeling.
"Mom told me you wanted to talk to me about something" Naruto broke the silence and looked up at his father.
"Yes, about that. I had Kakashi investigate the incident in your latest mission and he did some really quick work" He looked at his son. "One of those five taki-shinobi survived". For the first time he could see a reaction from Naruto even if just a small one, Naruto was shocked. 'That is not possible! I made sure they were dead!' Naruto thought in a small panic.
"This is good news Naruto. We had the survivor sent to the T.I department and Ibiki-san can collaborate your story of what happened". Minato was relieved when he first got the news, but he still wondered how it was possible that person survived. 'It looked like all of them got a quick death with a stab to the hearth, the survivor had bruises and broken bones all over his body and a stab mark in the neck missing vital spots. That's not like Naruto at all'.
"How did the person survive if I may ask?" Naruto was at a loss. He could not understand, he was sure he killed all of them quickly and painlessly. He saw his dad looking at him like he wanted an explanation on what happened.
Minato ignored his son's question. "So..what happened out there Naruto?" Minato asked as he leaned back in his chair to be less intimidating. "I told you this before dad, I killed them and left. I made sure everyone was dead. Im sure of it" Naruto was slowly panicking 'what is going on, what is this feeling, its like i can't think clearly'
Minato started to get a little nervous, his son was not known to be a liar. He could actually not come up with a single instance his son has ever lied to him."The one that survived had bruises all over his body and a stab wound to the neck that did not hit anything vital. He even had a few broken bones" he told Naruto.
Naruto just sat there and said nothing, he was in deep thought 'this is not how i remember it. What is going on, is my mind playing tricks on me? Or is this whole thing a trick to test me somehow?'. Minato saw that his son was struggling to come to terms with what he just told him.
"Try to calm down Naruto. You are not under any official investigation anymore. I just want to know what happened to you out there, I'm worried about you" his dad told him in a soft voice.
"What is happening to me dad? If this is not some kind of trick, why can't I remember that I hurt someone in that way?" Naruto said in a small panicked voice. "Sometimes when something bad happens to us or around us, our brain has the ability to suppress memories" Minato said as he watched his only child having a small mental break in front of him. 'Maybe I should ask Inoichi to check up on him' Minato thought as he wanted to help his son in any way he could.
"I'm giving you some time off from your shinobi duties, Naruto. At Least for the time being. And i'm going to ask Inochi to check up on you. This is no punishment, I only want you to get well son. Inochi will do a checkup, and when he clears you, you will be right back doing missions again" Minato said.
"Take this opportunity to relax a bit. You are always on missions or training with Itachi and Shiushi. You are just an eight years old. Try to do something that children do and see if you can meet some people your age." He watched his son ponder on this. It was hard for Minato to watch his son like this. 'I should never have made him an active shinobi at such an early age. He got tremendous potential, but we snuffed his childhood away. Shinobi life is the only life he really knows'. He thought as he went to his desk drawer and pulled out an item. "Here Naruto, take this home with you" and he gave Naruto what looked like a sealing scroll.
"What's this?" Naruto asked as he took the scroll in his hand and studied it. 'It almost looks like a normal storage scroll'. Naruto knew a lot about seals, but did not recognize this design. "I know i just told you to relax now that you have some time off. But as you know, your mother will give birth in around 2 months. In that storage scroll is all the information about your mothers seal that keeps the kyuubi at bay" Minato said as he walked around his desk and sat beside Naruto. "As to why you may not recognize the seal is because it's a special uzumaki blood seal design. It needs uzumaki blood to open as its highly classified information in there." Minato smiled at his son. "I want you to study it, so you can be there and help your old man out when your mother is going to give birth to your siblings. Your Mokutonwill be a great benefit to keep the kyuubi at bay if anything should happen".
Naruto looked up at his father with shock on his face. "Are you sure I can handle it?" Naruto asked, first time in his life doubting himself a little. "I mean, i have never used Mokuton before against a bijuu".
"Im sure you will do fine Naruto, you are my son after all" Minato said as he tried to reassure his son. "I believe you can do anything Naruto, if you put your mind to it. You are a exceptionally talented shinobi, even amongst geniuses you stand out" Minato stopped himself from praising his son more, he did not want to give his son a big head.
Naruto smiled up at his dad, he usually never care about anyone praising him. But when his dad did it, it makes him feel good inside. "Thanks dad, i will do my very best to make sure mom and my siblings are safe"
His dad gave him a hug and told him how proud he is of him. "I'm sorry I have to cut our conversation short, Naruto. But i have a lot of clients waiting for me, so i have to get back to work unfortunately" he grumbled. He really liked having time with his son, but work always got in the way.
"Its okay dad, i'm meeting up with Itachi and Shiushi to train soon anyway" He said as he made his way towards the office door. As he stood in the opening Naruto turned around to his dad and said "oh, and by the way. I just learned how to use hyoton. Byeee" and then he left with a smirk on his face.
Minato just stood there gobsmacked. 'What in the hell did he just say?' he thought. Minato was confused, did he hear his son right? He thinks his son just told him he can use hyoton. One thought occupied his mind "how?".
"Interesting conversation you had with your son just now hokage-sama" Kakashi materialized in the room. "He will make a great big brother".
Minato turned around to his student. "Kakashi, eavesdropping are we?" and smiled at him. "Make sure you keep an eye on him Kakashi, his mental state is unstable. I need to figure out how to help him. Can you even imagine what a person with Naruto's potential could do if his mind snapped?. We need to make sure that does not happen. I love my son, but the reality is, if his mind breaks there is no telling what he could do."
"Don't worry sensei, i will keep watch over him. He has a good heart, whatever happens I don't think you have to worry too much." Kakashi saw that Minato was bothered by his son's mental state and said "If i know Kushina as well i think i do, she will run through hell and back before she lets Naruto go off the wagon."
Minato looked up at Kakashi and gave him a small smile. "I think you are right, whatever Kushina wants she gets" and they both shared a heartfelt laugh.
There was a knock on the door.
"Thats my que" And just before Kakashi disappeared he said low to himself, but enough for Minato to hear "Hyoton huh"? And then used shunshin. The hokage just looked at the spot where Kakashi was a second ago "hyoton indeed, i really need to spend more time with Naruto". Then he straightened up in his chair and put on a smile. "Come in" he called out to the one knocking on his door.
Naruto entered the training ground at the Uchiha compound where he usually trained with Itachi and Shisui. He found that the training ground was empty. 'Hmm strange, they never miss training'. The clock was 07.30, so Naruto was a bit late. 'Maybe they left when they noticed I was not here'. Naruto shrugged his shoulders 'well, I might as well get some training done'. And he started with some warm up.
Fifteen minutes into his warm up he saw Itachi and Shisui walking towards the training grounds. He waved at them when they were far away, and they waved back.
Shisui was the first one to speak up when they were close enough. Itachi was more like Naruto, and did not speak that much. "Hi there you little squirt" Shisui said as he grabbed Naruto around his neck with his arm and ruffled up his hair. "Stop that Shisui, i'm not a child" Naruto whined and pried the older uchiha off from him and gave him a glare. "But are we not children of Naruto-kun? We both are eight years old" Itachi said matter of factly.
"Oh stop it Itachi" Naruto said. "We are shinobi, not children".
"You should lighten up a bit Naruto" Shisui said and smiled at both "children". Naruto just grumbled something no one could hear. "So why are you so late to training?" Naruto asked, as he started to spin a kunai around in his hand.
"My father wanted to talk to us about some clan affairs," Itachi said. "Clan affairs?, what kind of clan affairs?" Naruto asked. He knew about the Uchihas problems with the village. He is the son of the hokage after all, so he knew a lot of the dealings inside the village.
Shisui answers before Itachi could say anything "Ah you know, this and that about how great the Uchiha are, nothing special really. Just some boring stuff". Naruto spaced out for a moment. 'i know Fugaku, he is anything but boring. He is an arrogant prick'. Naruto never voiced his opinion about Itachi's father though.
"So what's new with you Naruto, we have not seen you since you left for your last mission over a week ago, '' Shisui asked. Itachi was watching Naruto like a hawk. Itachi is a very perceptive boy, so he knew something happened that changed something in Naruto, he could see that much. But what would that small change bring? He wondered about his close friend.
"Well you see..i got suspended. But not anymore, now i just have some time off until Inoichi can clear me for duty" Naruto said and watched how his friends would react. Itachi was just watching him saying nothing 'this should be interesting' he thought. But Shisui was another story, he was gaping like a mad fish at him. It looked like he wanted to say something, but was in such shock he could not get any words out. "You may want to close your mouth Shisui before a family of flies builds a home in there" Naruto said a bit amused about Shisui's reaction.
"Damn Naruto, you must have done something really stupid to get your father to suspend you" Shisui said as he now stopped gaping like a fish. "I would not call it stupid, just a small missunderstanding is all". Naruto replied. He turned around and walked towards the middle of the training grounds, and casually just said "let's warm up with some sparing ne?" as if the conversation they just had never happened.
"EY! Naruto, you can't just drop a bomb like that and not tell us what happend. We are your friends are we not? Shisui said to Naruto. "It's nothing serious really," Naruto replied.
"I agree with Shisui, you should tell us why your father suspended you. We are friends after all, Naruto". Itachi said in a cool voice. "And why would you need to have Inoichi to clear you for duty?" Shisui added as he was curious. Inoichi was the village's official head scrambler.
"Well okay then, I will tell you. But as I said it's not a big deal really." Naruto said as he thought about how to tell them a very short version of what happened. He did not really want to spend his precious training time on these small matters. That's what he at least told himself, that it was a small matter. But deep down he knew something strange was happening to his mind. 'I still can't remember what happened to the guy that survived. My memories of the events do not fit reality'. He tried to not think about it too much, hopefully Inoichi had an answer.
"My mission was to eliminate a missing nin. After it was done i got ambushed by five taki-shinobi" Naruto said before he was interrupted by Shisui "But are they not our allies?".Naruto just signed "Yes they are in an alliance with us, as i told them. So long story short, they attacked me and i killed them".
"You killed them?" Shisui asked, not really believing it. It was not like he did not think Naruto had the capability. But surely he would know not to kill allies.
He glared a bit at Shisui and said "Why would that surprise you? I just told you they attacked me, didn't I?"
"But they were your allies, Naruto. I'm sure you could find another way of solving the situation without killing them" Shisui did not like killing, so he avoided it whenever he could. "I'm not trying to say you did wrong in defending yourself Naruto, but I wish you sometime would at least just try and leave the situation, you don't always have to kill the people threatening you". Naruto said nothing and was just thinking about what was being said 'Maybe Shisui is right. I don't really find a problem with killing, maybe that's what's wrong with me?"
Itachi was just quietly watching the conversation and Naruto's inner struggle with himself. "That's not all that happened, is it Naruto?" Itachi said.
Naruto looked at him for a while 'Damn you itachi and your perceptive ways' he thought and then signed yet again. "No you are right Itachi, something else did happen" Naruto said as he looked down at the ground.
The Uchiha clan members watched their friend standing there fidgeting and looking..embarrassed?. 'Thats a first' they both thought collectively.
Naruto looked up at them with an inkling of sadness in his eyes. 'He is showing more emotions in one day than he had done during their whole friendship of 4 years, something really bad must have happened" Shisui thought.Itachi had similar thoughts.
"One of the taki shinobi apparently survived. And what's even worse than me failing something so simple as to kill the last one is that i can't remember not killing him. The only thing I remember is killing all five of them." Naruto said in a frustrated way. Both Itachi and Shisui were watching their friend with concern. "And that's not the worst of it! Apparently I had hurt this last person tremendously. He had bruises and broken bones all over his body and a stap mark in the neck missing vitals". Naruto looked down again, still not fully believing the reality of it."How can I not remember that I hurt someone so bad? It's like a vicious animal attacked him. That's not how I work at all, that's not me!".
Naruto almost pleaded
"I'm not really good at these things Naruto, but you should try to not work yourself up too much about this. You said Inoichi was going to help you? I'm sure you and him will figure out what happened" Shisui said, trying to calm Naruto down. He was not really sure how to handle an emotional Naruto, he almost never showed emotions. And as the older person in their small group he felt some responsibility for the two younger boys.
"You are the smartest person I know, Naruto" Itachi said and gave Naruto a pat on the shoulder. "You will figure this out, I'm sure of it.". And Naruto smiled towards his friends. "You got us by your side as well Naruto, we will figure this out together!" Shisui proclaimed.
"Thank you guys, I guess you are right. I should not dwell on this and just wait for my appointment with Inoichi" Naruto said. He was fortunate to have such loyal friends as Itachi and Shisui, he thought and smiled.
"That reminds me, I have something awesome to show you guys" Naruto said a bit more excited now. He gave them no time to react as he started to mold water and air elements in large quantities.'maybe i'm overdoing this?, never mind. This should put the point across at least' he thought as he finally after a few seconds release his chakra. He put one hand on the ground and both Uchihas were shocked, even the person up by a tree hiding his presence. ' .fuck' was Kakashis only thougts, very similar to the Uchihas watching Naruto.
Out from Naruto's hand that was on the ground, ice spread out and covered the whole training field in just a second. And he did not look exhausted the least. "That was shitloads of chakra and the controle he has over his elements is just ridiculous. I knew he got crazy control over his different elements. But to do this just a few days after he discovered he can do Hyoton, and not even look the least exhausted. What a monster!' Kakashi thought.
Itachi and Shisui's thoughts were similar to Kakashi's.'Good thing he is my friend and not my enemy' Shisui thought as he felt some hairs stand on his neck and a shiver going up his spine. 'Hyoton huh?..that's..interesting' was Itachi's thoughts after getting over the initial shock.
"Awesome right?" Naruto beamed at his friends' shocked expressions. He did not like to show off his powers, but to his friends he had no qualms about bragging. A bit at least.
"Awesome? You are not even supposed to be able to use Hyoton!, how is this possible? And to that effect as well, you would think you have trained for years and years with hyoton." Shisui almost yelled out.
"This is an interesting development, do you have any theories about how you are able to use Hyoton? Itachi asked calmly haven gotten over his shock.'I know his theory about his mokuton, there is a connection with Uzumaki and Senju. But hyoton, there must be something similar" Itachi mused, while waiting for Naruto to air his thoughts.
"I'm not really sure. I have tried to find a distant connection between my familys blood and theirs but i can't find anything. My mokuton can at least be partially explained with Uzumakis ties to the Senju in blood" Naruto paused then continued "As you know my fathers clan have a very obscure past, and it's hard to find anything there as far as i know" He sounded almost a bit disappointed at that. "But I found rumors that some members from the Yuki clan may have married into the Uzumaki clan long before any hidden village was created. I found something that looked like a peace treaty between the clans, but I can't confirm it. And there's also the problem about the information being over 300 years old" Naruto told them.
"The fact that my body has been absorbing natural energy and integrated with my own chakra since i was born may have had some profound effects on my biology" Naruto watched his friends for any response, but they were just waiting for naruto to continue.
"It's quite frustrating, you know, its like i don't know anything about my own body and its capabilities". Naruto said.
"You are able to wield Mokuton and Hyoton with such mastery at your age, even Hashirama Senju would be hard pressed matching your talent over the elements. And you find it frustrating! You are one funny guy Naruto" Shisui said as he rolled his eyes at Naruto then started laughing. "You should feel happy!, there's no one else in the world. At Least that I know about, that can do some of the things you are capable of".
"It's not like i'm not happy about it, this will just make it easier to protect the people i love. But I still have this need to know for sure why this is happening to me you know?"
Naruto said. "And this memory loss thing, what if that is connected to all this somehow? I need to know!" Naruto signed, he did not like when there was something he could not figure out.
"My advice is to just give it time Naruto" Itachi told him. "You will just drive yourself insane thinking to much about this. Maybe thats whats messing with your memory. Something may come up in the future that will explain everything for you" Itachi paused and thought for a bit "You must practice patience Naruto, that is one of the most important aspects of being a shinobi after all".
"You are right Itachi, i will try to leave this matter behind and wait for the answers instead of running after them." Naruto smiled at the thought. Maybe this was the best, just dropping the chase of an explanation for everything.
Shisui smiled at Naruto for dropping it, he knew this was stressing him out and that was not good for his mental health. "I agree with Itachi-san, you are better of not thinking about it to much".
Kakashi was still watching them, very interested in their little conversation. 'They are right about him stressing himself up about this, maybe this is what caused his problem with his memories' he mused on that thought for a bit, Kakashi cared a great deal about Naruto. He was a very close friend to the Uzumaki/Namikaze household, especially Naruto's father Minato. He was like a father to Kakashi, so Kakashi had started seeing Naruto as his little brother. 'Im glad you have such great friends Naruto. Protect that bond with everything you have'. Then Kakashi used shunshin and disappeared from the tree.
Naruto looked up towards the spot Kakashi just disappeared from. 'So dad has Kakashi watching me? Is he really that worried about me? Or is he worried about what i may do?. Naruto pushed those thoughts away as quickly as they came. 'What am i even thinking, i should have more fate in my dad. Of course he should be worried, even i am worried about my own mental well being'. Naruto dropped his line of thinking and turned towards the two Uchihas.
"So is anyone up for a spar?" Naruto said as he did some small jumping motions to limber up his joints
Both Itachi and Shisui seemed to brighten up abit, the conversation they just had was a bit gloomy. Some physical exercise was very welcomed.
"Lets do only taijutsu and weapons then" Shisui said quickly not really feeling up to a ninjutsu battle with Naruto. "Afraid i'll make you in to a popsicle Shisui-san?" Naruto winked at him. "Yes, actually i am" Shisui answered. Then he started to laugh "Im kidding, of course im not afraid, who would be afraid of a squirt like you!?" he teased Naruto.
Naruto got a annoyed twitch in his eye "You" he said and pointed at Shisui "and me will start off". Naruto said and stomped to the middle of the training ground like the small child he was. "Fair warning thought, im not using any resistance seals so you should deactivate yours as well. And even if my mother is pregnant she has instructed me in her famous sword style 'red whirlpool' the last few months". Shisui gulped a bit, 'maybe i should not have pissed him off before our spar'. He knew Naruto's mother was famed throughout the elemental nations for her brutal and efficient sword play.
"This should be fun" Itachi thought. 'You have yourself to blame Shisui-san, you know not to tease Naruto. Especially before you are going to spar with him'
The two combatants looked at each other then did a respectful salute to each other as is custom. As soon as Itachi said "Hajime". Naruto shot towards Shisui with incredible speed. He did not start with his sword out, but somehow he got it out in the span of less than the one second it took for him to reach Shisui and itachi heard swords clashing and the fight was on. 'What the hell is his parents feeding him' Shisui thought as he barely had time to get his sword up and ready to parry the incoming strikes. Shisui was four years older then both Naruto and Itachi, and he himself was a very accomplished Jounin of the village. One of the stronger in fact. But he was always astonished by the boy's skill level, and even more so for Naruto. 'Damn it, this makes me almost feel useless. I'm twelve years old and fighting an eight year old. And he is pushing me towards a defensive position. I cant get a single opening on him! What the hell!' he thought a bit miserably. But Shisui was not one to give up and upped the pace but Naruto just attacked him relentlessly. 'And his not even using his greatest strength!'.
This continued for a few minutes, Naruto not giving the Uchiha any time to figure out a strategy. Naruto disappeared right in front of Shisui's eyes. Mind you, Shisui was not allowed to use his sharingan. And then he felt cold steel against his neck. "Yield" the voice behind him commanded. He turned his head towards Naruto who was still holding his katana against Shisui's neck. And he smiled at Naruto "Great work Naruto-kun, your speed is getting better every time we spar. I even thought for a second that you cheated and used shunshin".
"Cheating would be beneath me, but thank you" Naruto answers with a smile on his face. All the while Itachi had watched the entire fight with his sharingan activated. 'It may not have been cheating, but naruto is unconsciously absorbing small amounts of natural energy into his body all the time, strengthening his muscles and making his nerves respond faster making his reaction and speed improve tremendously'
"Very entertaining fight you to. Naruto, maybe you should ask your father about senjutsu training. You are constantly absorbing natural energy as you already know. I cant for the life of me not understand why you are not learning more about Senjutsu. Your father even is a Sage himself".
"Dad said senjutsu is very dangerous and wants me to wait a bit more. He said the small amounts I continuously absorb is unharmful to me. And the effect he is not sure about. But when I'm going to learn senjutsu I have to consciously absorb A LOT more natural energy to use senjutsu techniques and be able to use Sage mode." Naruto told his friends. Of course he was very eager to learn Senjutsu, but he trusted his dad's judgment on the subject and did not press it any further.
"So, want to spar Itachi-san?" Naruto asked, still not winded. Even after the intense spar with Shisui.
Itachi looked at Shisui and then back towards Naruto. 'Well, might as well get this over with' he thought as he started to walk towards the middle of the field.
Itachi knew he stood no chance in a spar with Naruto, especially without the sharingan. But he was no slouch and never backed down from a challenge, ever since he started to train with Naruto and Shisui his own abilities skyrocketed. He was praised as a once in a lifetime prodigy amongst his clan and the whole village.
They stood looking at each other waiting for Shisui to start the spar.
"Hajime" He shouted and got out of the way. Both shinobis flew at each other and engaged in a deadly dance of swords with each other. Shisui watching from the sidelines with his sharingan active, and could only smile at his friends and their prowess.

Also special thanks to Chiizzz and WindyCitySlayer1 for making reviews. And as to shine some light on the pairings in the story. I just have to say I have not thought about that as much. Any romance involving either Naruto or Itachi will wait until they are 16+ in age. But yes, the pairings are quite open, I have a few in mind.
And with the pace of the story you won't have to wait to long for those two being adults.
And i also wanted to mention i changed the ages of some characters and don't want you to be confused.
Minato and Kushina were both 21 years old when they had Naruto.
Naruto and Itachi are both 8 years old. Itachi is then 1 year older than in the canon.
Shisui is 12 years old. And Kakashi is 17 years old. So he was 9 years old when Naruto was born.
