Check That Again, Are You Sure ?

The Doctor pushed buttons and pushed a lever down. She looked one last time at the coordinates. She had promised Yaz, Graham and Ryan a stopover in an alien amusement park that had settled in the constellation of Andromeda. Unfortunately, the TARDIS had stopped in the wrong place. After losing their ship and being taken prisoner, all ended well and the Doctor and her companions resumed their journey. After all that, she had to keep her promise and take them to the amusement park.

Everything was going well, the TARDIS was on the right course. Suddenly, she heard an alarm. The Doctor jumped and she walked to the other side of the dashboard.

"That's impossible," she muttered. "That's impossible."

It was an alarm she had programmed centuries ago. She wanted to know if Rose came back. She had installed it after she left Rose on Bad Wolf Bay with her clone. At the beginning, she constantly watched the alarm, checking if it was working, looking on the screen to see if she had not missed something important. The more time passed, the less she expected this alarm. As her regenerations went by, she had lost hope of seeing Rose again.

She closed her eyes, not daring to look at the screen. Both of her hearts were pounding so hard she thought they were going to explode.

"Don't get carried away," she said. "It may be a false alarm."

She breathed slowly to try to calm herself down and she opened her eyes. Coordinates were displayed on the screen.

"Check that again," she told the TARDIS. "Are you sure ?"

Yes, the TARDIS was sure. There was no doubt about it, Rose had returned. Without further ado, the Doctor lowered the lever and the TARDIS changed direction. Once there, she ran out of the ship and she looked around her. She was in London in 2022 in a place she knew well. Powell Estate.

"It brings back so many memories."

The Doctor turned around and saw Rose. She had that beautiful smile that had always warmed her hearts.

"Hello doctor."

A huge smile lit up the Doctor's face. She rushed to Rose and took her in her arms.

"It's really you ? It isn't a trap or an illusion ?"

"It's really me."

The Doctor moved away slightly. Rose had not changed. It was like the last time they saw each other.

"You regenerated. A new Doctor."

"Yes. What do you think about it ?"

Deep down, she was scared that Rose did not like her new regeneration. What if she preferred when she was a man ?

"That's perfect," Rose answered. "You are perfect."

The Doctor smiled. She approached Rose and they kissed. This is real, she thought. Rose was back to her. They ended their kiss and smiled at each other. But there was something the Doctor did not understand.

"How it is possible ? You should be in Pete's world with my other self."

"John. His name was John."

Was, the Doctor thought.

"You had to spend your life together," the Doctor said.

"That's what happened. We got married, we had children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. They've all aged, they're all..."

Rose stopped talking and sadness appeared in her eyes. The Doctor realized what had happened. They aged, they died, only Rose was still alive. But…

"How ?"

"Bad Wolf. I haven't aged a single second since then and I can't die. One day, I heard rumors about a tear in space-time that allows to travel between universes and after years of research, here I am."

"Here you are," the Doctor smiled.

The Doctor had never been so happy. In a second, all the plans, all the adventures she wanted to live with Rose but had never been able to achieve, came back to her. She was finally going to be able to have the life she had always wanted with Rose.

"Right now I'm traveling with the fam, Yaz, Ryan and Graham. I'm sure you'll love them. We were about to go to an amusement park in the constellation of Andromeda. Do you want to come with us ?"

Rose could not help smiling at her enthusiasm.

"Yes," she replied. "I would love it."

The Doctor took her hand and they ran to the TARDIS. They were finally reunited. Rose and the Doctor, aboard the TARDIS, forever.
