au team guy comes to suna! ten ten and temari rematch?!?

Ten Ten will always prefer the Leaf. She doesn't like it when Sand gets in her eyes, or when Lee has so much to say. Oftentimes, it's easy to roll your eyes in affection at his passionate ramblings — but something about this land brought her heart rate up.

"What happened?" Neji asks, noticing her discomfort.

"Just a little homesick." Ten Ten says.

"You don't like Suna," he says, matter-of-fact. She hates how easy it is for him to do that. To take her thoughts and bring them in front of her to see.

"Everytime I think about Suna, I think about the three siblings..." She says, sighing. "I know it's stupid to think about, but I did go down pretty badly, didn't I?"

Neji shakes his head. "You went down loudly and stubbornly. It's the honorable way to go."

Ten Ten snorts. Before she can bask in the pink light that surrounds her and Neji, Rock Lee comes between them and points out, "Look! It's those guys!"

Before she can realize who he's talking about, he's sprinting in their direction, fire smoking.

Temari has not forgotten her name. She hasn't forgotten the event, either. Though a season has passed and lots has happened, it feels wrong to come around her. During the tour, she doesn't look in the brown-haired girl's direction.

When they finally stop, Temari feels pink in the face. She can't face her. It'd be mean. As the siblings turn to leave, the brown-haired girl finally rises.

"Did you guys want to join us for tea?"

"No." Gaara answers dryly. Temari nudges him, reminding him to work on his tone. "No," the red-haired boy says again. "We wouldn't want to intrude."

Better.

She laughs, drifting into conversation with remarkable ease. "Oh, please. You gave us a tour, and you're giving us a place to stay. The least we can do is breakfast."

"You're sure?" Kankuro says.

"If you feel so badly about it, you can pay." She says, crossing her arms over her chest. "It's rude to keep a girl waiting this long, you know."

"Fine, fine," Kankuro says, following Neji in. "Lunch is on you guys, though."

"Yes, yes." She says with a smile. Gaara soundlessly follows his brother into the restaurant. Ten Ten watches him intently, almost in awe. "He's the one Lee fought, isn't he? He was crazy strong the last time I saw him. It's weird to see him so calm."

"He wasn't crazy," Temari snaps. "And he's always calm... it's just sometimes..." she drifts off, then sighs. "I mean, you guys have your own one of those. You know how they work."

"Nobody knows how Naruto works, not even Naruto." Ten Ten says, shrugging. "I didn't mean crazy in a bad way. I meant crazy in I've never seen anything like you guys before."

Right.

Temari eyes her carefully, analyzing every crease, every subtle detail about her face — including her ginormous fucking grin. Why is she smiling? Shouldn't she be the opposite?

"You don't seem mad about our fight," Temari says.

"Why would I be mad at you?" Ten Ten says. "All it means is that I should work harder for next time."

"That's..." Temari's lips finally rise to smile. "That's good, then. Good luck."

Ten Ten shakes her head. "It won't be luck. It'll be pure skill." As they enter the restaurant, where a barrage of hungry boys chew into bread, the brown-haired girl turns to Temari and says, "Congratulations, by the way! We should get a cake!"

The guys and the girl --

Whether they admit it or not, my siblings needs a life outside of each other, so feel free to come by whenever you want. Hell, take them to the Leaf.

I mean it, Kankuro.

Congratulations on becoming a chuunin, Ten Ten. Cheering you on always. Come back to Suna! I miss you!

Love love love,

Temari
