It was late.

"I'm home." Shinji announced.

No response.

Nothing out of place.

Except the letter on the table.

Written with Asuka's unique handwriting.

"Shinji.
I do not love you anymore
I'll be lying saying that
I still want you like I always did.
I am sure that
Nothing was in vain.
I feel inside me that
You mean nothing.
I could never say that
I feed a great love.
I feel more and more that
I already forgot you!
And I will never use the phrase
I love you!
I'm sorry, but I have to tell the truth
It's too late..."

Shinji read the letter, his hands trembling.

A mix of emotions ran in his head and his heart as he read the letter again.

The message was obvious and clear.

At least for those who knew Asuka.

So, he announced with a knock on the door.

"Asuka, I'm here."

And by faith the walls of Jericho fell.

Author notes:

Still can't understand Asuka? Read the letter upside down.

Based on a Brazilian poem, of unknown authorship called "Poema de trĂ¡s para frente e vice versa" and inspired by the one great fanfiction in Spanish language called "Notas para Asuka" (Letters to Asuka).

The images that illustrates this story are on r/Asushin labeled "Understanding Asuka is a matter of perspective"

I decided to add a little bit of context to make really short story, since I probably won't be able to be writing much in the near future.

Thanks for reading and hope you have a great day.
