Sleepless Nights
Summary: A drabble. Mozzie hasn't been able to sleep, not since Neal was sentenced.
For the Tumblr Sicktember 2022 prompt 27. Sleepless Night/s
Mozzie tossed and turned. He looked at the clock on the night stand. Wow! Six minutes since he'd last checked. Three hours till sunrise. Sighing, he threw back the covers and got up. He'd had virtually no sleep the last three nights – not since Neal's sentencing. Four years locked up with the worst of the worst! Apart from himself, Neal was the smartest person Mozzie knew, except when it came to his Achilles' heel – Kate, and look what that had cost him. But as smart and as silver tongued as Neal was, Mozzie doubted he'd be able to charm his way out of trouble for four years. Not with inmates that included rapists, murderers and gangbangers. With his youth, lithe build and pretty face, he was going to be eaten alive. Or Worse.
Even though he'd told the kid it was a trap, Mozzie couldn't shake the sense of guilt he felt over Neal's capture. He had to do something to ensure Neal stayed safe, was protected. Mozzie smacked his forehead. Of course! He knew just the person.
Come daybreak, inmates and guards alike would learn that Neal Caffrey was out of bounds – by order of The Dentist of Detroit.
