Hey guys, this story is all Oc from region to ideas. so, enjoy the journey, I'll try to post ASAP
enjoy, and critique as much.
Waking up in the spare bedroom, Lyon stretched before quickly getting up and darting around the room. As his head was stuck in his shirt trying to get it over his head, Candice, the SnowPoint City Gym Leader poked her head in the door after hearing all the commotion he was making.
"Today's the big day, you're Finally traveling to the Valion Region, are you excited or nervous Lyon?" Candice asked as she came into the bedroom and looked at the silvery white-haired kid.
"More nervous than excited, mom's already left to join dad, and dad is a gym leader but they both haven't told me what Town we live in. I can't wait to challenge his gym when I get there and show him what kinda journey I have been on so far. I don't know what kind of Gym he runs either, The only Pokemon he left was the Pokeball he left with you. It's meant to be my partner Pokemon right?"
Lyon asked as the two of them went downstairs. Greeted by all of Candice's Pokémon waiting in the living room, with the usual frosty chill in the air all but normal to Lyon after 3 years. As Candice's new ace Frosslass gently floated above the others, the Pokémon stood around a Pokèball that was left in the living room.
"That's right? Daren wanted me to give you this Pokémon when you turned 10 and began your journey over there in Valion, now before you take the Pokémon, I want you to take these first." Candice smiled before she pulled a small black device from her pocket, as well as a small silver box. "First It's your very own Pokedex, Professor Rowan wanted to make sure you got one, updated to all the latest discovered Pokémon. The other item is from me, but I want you to open it after you see what Pokémon your father left you."
Taking the Pokèdex from Candice Lyon slid the slick device open scanning a few of her pokemon with the holo display, putting the new Pokèdex down beside the Pokèball before picking up the ball. Lyon smiled to himself as excitement overwhelmed him before he gave it a toss-up in the air. As the Pokemon was released the shine faded revealing a small Snorunt, falling into his arms Lyon smiled, the cold Snow Pokemon made his arms chill with goosebumps even more than the cold air. "Neat a Snorunt dad had one too, his Glalie was my favorite when I was a kid."
Lyon said looking down at the silver box that Candice also gave him, shuffling Snorunt into a 1-armed hold he opened the box revealing a small gem-like stone, the gem had a light blue color to it, a yellow spot in the middle.
"It's a Dawn stone, wait isn't this used to evolve Snorunt?" Lyon asked surprised as he looked up at Candice who just smiled and nodded.
"Yup, when I first saw your Snorunt, I found out that your new Snorunt is a female from the way she acted around my Glalie when they first met. A dawn stone can only be used on female Snorunt to evolve them into Frosslass, so that mean's when you're ready, you have a decision to make."
"Thanks, Candice your Frosslass has grown to become a new favorite of mine ever since I had to come and live with you, and dad's Glalie was my favorite Pokémon to play with as a kid you could say I fell in love with Snorunt. It's no wonder dad chose this Snorunt to be my starter" Lyon said before returning Snorunt to its Pokeball holding it in his hand. I'm going to go finish packing up my things before the boat leaves." Lyon said hugging Candice before rushing back upstairs to the spare room.
After 20 minutes, Lyon put his favorite black cap on before looking at himself in the mirror on the desk he used to study Pokémon. he wore his favorite pair of acid-washed black jeans, a black and grey plaid shirt over top a deep red tank top the sleeves slid up to his elbows, as well as a silver pendant his mother gave him around his neck in the shape of a Pokeball. Picking up Snorunt's Pokeball he attacked it to a holder inside his plaid shirt under the pocket, however, the ball suddenly started to shake and Snorunt came out all by itself.
"Hey, Snorunt, I didn't call you out, want to stretch your legs for a bit? I get it, you have probably been waiting for me as long as I have been waiting to meet you." Lyon said and he put Snorunt on his shoulders grabbing his over-shoulder bag as well as a jacket. looking back in the mirror he smiled "Well Snorunt, let's go see this Valian Region. I bet mom would love to meet you" Snorunt just cried out happily breathing out an Icy wind that caused Lyon to shiver before he ran down those stairs waving goodbye once again to Candice who waited for him downstairs before he raced off towards the Snowpoint City Docks.
"Bye Candice, I'll come back once I'm a better trainer and we can have a battle," Lyon shouted back at her as he walked towards the large boat he could see from her house, following the growing crowd of trainers. As he approached he saw so many Pokemon out of their poke balls, walking up to an older man Lyon asked, "Umm shouldn't the Pokemon be in their balls? Won't the captain be worried about a fight?
"Oh you must be a new trainer aren't you, I can tell from those clothes, not a speck of dirt or tear, let alone if you've never been on a ship then let me explain." The old man turned to face Lyon properly, the man's deep black suit covered in a bit of snowfall. "Well, a lot of ships hold tournaments to keep the guests entertained, hell I once fought a captain of a cruise ship, that man.." The older man started to mumble to himself, Lyon just smiled looking over his shoulder at Snorunt.
"Guess that means you can stay out and enjoy the ship with me Snorunt, come on let's go." Lyon started to push his way past a few guests as he approached the captain, beside him stood a Luxray, its black and yellow fur sparking with electricity.
"Hello is this the ship to Valian?" Lyon asked, the captain just smiled and nodded.
"Indeed, you must be a new trainer aren't you, I can tell by your clothes, brand new clothes are a clear sign of a new journey."
"Ya, I am, your the second person to mention that," Lyon said as another boy walked up, his short brown hair, slightly longer in the back walked up to Lyon a Piplup following up behind him.
"That makes two of us, hi I'm Drake," He said before pointing to the Piplup beside him, "And this is Piplup my buddy we're on our way to Valian to begin our journey together." Turning to look at the boy, Lyon smiled.
"I'm Lyon, but I guess you already heard that part, I'm moving to Valian, my dad got a position as a gym leader, though he never said what type of Pokémon he would use. He mentioned, he would use this chance to get some new Pokémon of his own."
"Sounds like your dad's trying to change up the Pokémon he has, can't give you an unfair advantage, right?" Drake said as the two boys started to walk up the platform towards the deck of the ship, laughing at the remark.
"Ya I guess you could say that, but I can't wait to see my dad's Glalie again."
"Oh, so your dad was an ice-type trainer? That explains the Snorunt, runs in the family." Lyon suddenly stopped at the realization Drake had mentioned. Reaching behind his head he picked up Snorunt looking at it and smiling, Snorunt just kicked its small legs with glee.
"Just like dad..." He muttered before rushing up a bit to catch up with Drake as the two boys reached the deck. "So, Drake where do you live?" Lyon asked as he sat up against a railing watching Snorunt play with Piplup in the distance.
"I'm from the big city, Eterna City here in Sinnoh, but you said you're moving to Valian Lyon? So that means you're not from around here?" Drake remarked and Lyon nodded his head in agreement.
"Yup, Dad never told me what town we live in. he wants me to start my journey right here on the boat and show him how far I've come I've finally seen him." Lyon smiled chuckling a bit to himself as he stretched out his feet before looking up at the sky. "It's so like my dad too, he would always find fun ways to teach me stuff ever since I was little but when I turned even, he had to go since he was now a Gym Leader. I stayed here in town for only a few years after that with my mom. She eventually left to go join dad, so I stayed with the Gym Leader Candice here in Snowpoint for 6 Months."
As Lyon explained a large number of Pokémon were released from their Pokeballs before Lyon's eyes, many taking to the water, others taking to the skies as the ship started to pull away from the docks, Lyon and Drake standing up to watch a few Gyarados rose from the water towering over the two boys a bit. "Wow those Gyarados are pretty close," Lyon said grabbing the Pokedex from his inside breast pocket before flipping up the screen as it scanned the Pokémon, however, the data wasn't added. "Huh. What happened, it's supposed to show its info right?" Lyon muttered to himself as he turned to look over at Drake.
"It's a new system, there are a lot of the Pokémon in this world that have already been studied so they locked off the data to those you catch, it's a way to Keep track of your personal growth, of all the Pokémon we catch and learn more about by being with them. filling those pages and learning more about Pokémon on our journey, that's why I'm going." Drake said.
Looking down at the dex it indeed said more info was locked off until Lyon caught a Gyarados himself, putting the dex away Lyon slumped back down against the railing pulled out the small box that Candice gave him pulled out the Dawn Stone rolling it around in his hand. 'What am I going to do with this, let alone when. I could follow dad and evolve Snorunt into a Glalie, or... I could evolve it into a Frosslass, this is going to be hard to choose when the time comes.
As Lyon thought hard, the dawn stone twisting in his fingers, he looked over at Drake for a moment who was also in his bag going over his stuff when someone shouted. "Hey did you hear, there's a Pokémon battle going on in the arena," Lyon and Drake both looked at each other before nodding, two of them putting their stuff away and grabbing their Pokémon the two of them raced off to the arena located on the back of the ship following the growing crowd of people heading in the same direction. As they approached their path was blocked by a boy his back to them as a floating sword Pokémon poked at him with its blade and laughed.
"Come on honedge, this is no time to play, we're in the tournament now so we got to focus."
"Wait, you entered a tournament?" Lyon said, his mind forgetting about the battle he was looking for stopping in his tracks, Drake stopping a bit later behind Lyon. Hearing Lyon the boy jumped and turn to see Lyon and Drake, the boy smiled.
"Ya the ship holds a tournament, you don't know. It's to help keep the guests and even the trainers on the ship entertained, everyone loves watching Pokémon battles, so it's just loads of fun, are you guys going to enter? Oh, I'm sorry, I'm Maverick, this is honedge," Maverick said, his honedge wrapping its ribbon around Snorunt before suddenly spinning Snorunt in place. "Honedge, come on stop that, sorry, honedge is a bit of a handful. Maverick Recalled Honedge before looking at Drake and Lyon. "So are you guys going to put them back in their balls, I never leave Honedge out of its ball for long, since it's a troublemaker.
"No, last time I tried that Piplup refused to listen to me when we tried catching a Pokémon before coming on the ship, seems it doesn't enjoy being in its Pokeball," Drake said, Lyon just shrugged,
"I never thought about it, I've never been on a ship like this before so I thought it would be nice for Snorunt to enjoy the trip alongside me.
"Oh, that makes sense," Maverick said. "So, are you guys going to register for the tournament? the bracket closes around dinner time, which is eight, so you better register sooner rather than later, if you miss the deadline.
"Oh, I definitely will, I just began my journey, so I want to see how I do in my first battle. Both Drake and Maverick looked at Lyon stunned, looking back Lyon was confused.
"You never battled with Snorunt before? Do you know what moves it can use? As Lyon shook his head, Drake asked. "Well, you should check, scan its Pokeball and find out. Lyon nodded before he returned Snorunt to its Pokeball and scanned it into his Pokedex. His Snorunt's data was added to the dex and seeing its moves on a display.
"Says my Snorunt knows, Leer, Astonish, and Powder Snow." that's not bad. Lyon asked and Drake nodded.
"That's better than Piplup, it only knows pound and growl," Drake remarked. "But Maverick, where is the registration for the tournament didn't it start already, we heard someone say there already was a battle going on. Drake asked, but Maverick just shook his head.
"Not yet they're setting up a bracket system for tonight, they even have a bracket for rookie trainers, that's what I signed up for. They're having an Open invitation fight right now in the arena, you two better hurry. " Maverick said, Lyon and Drake nodded both in agreement.
"Well, I hope to battle you Maverick, I'm curious to see how strong that Honedge of yours is," Lyon said, Maverick just nodded. "Ya, well I'll see you two in the tournament, it was nice meeting Ya, maybe we will see each other later," he said as maverick left the two of them. Drake looked over at Lyon.
"I'm going to go find registration, then I'm going to go find my cabin, maybe I'll see you later.
"Sure, nice meeting you Drake," Lyon replied as the two of them parted ways, Lyon smiled a bit to himself before pulling out his Cabin Keycard from his bag looking at the number on the card, and looking around the halls for his room. After a while Lyon Called Snorunt from its ball again so the two of them could walk together, stopping to see and scan new Pokémon into his Dex along the way. After they reached the second floor of the ship Lyon and Snowrunt were looking at a sip guide to find the room a lot easier before Snowrunt suddenly started shaking. "Snorunt what's wrong? You look scared?" Kneeling Lyon looked over his New Pokémon, his hand reaching into his bag to try and help only to find a small Candle Pokémon on his bag, the blue flame on its back flicking.
"Your Snorunt is scared because it knows fire is its weakness, and it should always know that fear." A girl's voice could be heard hands reaching for the small Candle and holding it to her chest. "My Litwick is a Fire Type a bad matchup for your ice Type." Hearing the remark Snorunt suddenly let out an Icy Wind toward the girl and her Pokémon. As the icy wind flew towards the girl, her Litwick only made the flame on its head grow bigger, the hot air causing the icy wind to quickly fade.
"Snorunt no don't attack someone like that." Lyon grabbed his Snorunt holding it to his chest but suddenly Snorunt let out a Loud Cry, the deep red sound waves caused the girl's Litwick to suddenly recoil in fear. Lyon covered Snorunt's mouth. "No Snorunt, stop this right now." Returning Snorunt to its Poke ball Lyon just hid his head. "I'm sorry, Snorunt shouldn't have done that.
"No, it shouldn't have, that was Astonish wasn't it, that move...it bothers my Litwick so you should apologize. My Litwick didn't do anything wrong, your Snorunt started it."
"Snorunt didn't start that, you hurt Snorunt's feelings with that weakness remark, I'll have you know I've seen many Ice Types beat that weakness in Candice's Gym," Lyon said lifting his hat. "And I'm sure Snorunt thinks the same, that's why it attacked."
"Wait, Candice? The Snowpoint City Gym leader Candice? You can't tell me you got to watch her matches with other trainers." The girl asked, her face skeptical as Litwick jumped out of her arms and landed on her bag as it hung to her side looking up at Lyon.
"Ya, I stayed with her for a few months, I asked her if I could watch since I knew I was going to be a trainer one day. Candice said it was fine, and I got to watch her defend her Gym Badge against many fires and rock types with so many different strategies." As Lyon spoke, he couldn't help but feel his face getting red as he started mumbling to himself before shaking his hair out and putting his hat back on. "My point is, my name is Lyon, and Snorunt and I, won't be scared of your fire-Type or any Pokémon." Looking at him she scuffed at his words.
"Name is Andrea, and if we ever see each other, then you better fight hard." Andrea puffed out her chest before walking past Lyon and turning into a nearby cabin, watching Lyon just smile.
"Guess that must be her cabin, man that girl was hard to read but seems like she's alright." Looking at his cabin Keycard again looked towards the then back up at the map now behind him. "Seems my cabin is on the third floor, no wonder I was lost." Heading up the stairs he let Snorunt out again, as it blew cold wind in his face, "Hey come on Snorunt stop it, you almost started a fight that we had no business even being in, you got to calm down." Grabbing his Snorunt Lyon sighed before putting his hat on its head. "There, I'm sorry now come on let's go see the cabin.
