"You ready, Chewie?!"

"Rawr!"

A cocky smile crossed young Han Solo's face - but it could not be seen due to the white sheet covering him from head to foot. The small boy was dressed up as a ghost for Halloween. He was out trick-or-treating with his wookie friend, Chewbacca, hoping to fill the plastic pumpkin bucket he was carrying with candy.

"Let's do this!" Han smirked, ringing the doorbell of the cottage they were outside. He stood on the doorstep and faced the front entrance, bracing himself to surprise the person who was coming.

A light flicked on through the window of the hallway. The door was pulled open and there stood a little old lady, gazing out at the figures on her porch.

"TRICK-OR-TREAT?!" Han shouted.

"RAWR!" Chewie growled.

"Oh isn't that adorable?!" The little old lady smiled sweetly. "What an absolutely amazing costume you have there!"

Han smiled smugly underneath his ghost costume. "I know."

"Hold on, sweetie. Let me go get you some candy."

The little old lady doubled back inside her cottage. Han remained stood on the doorstep with Chewbacca by his side. The young boy excitedly held out his plastic pumpkin bucket. He could hardly wait to see what candy it would be filled with.

A moment lady, the little old lady returned. She stood in the doorway, carrying a shopping bag filled with Halloween treats.

"Here you go, honey..." she said softly, reaching into the bag.

Han grinned broadly and held out his pumpkin bucket for it to be filled...

...only for the lady to reach past the small body to give all the candy in her hand to Chewie.

"What?!" Han exclaimed, astounded.

"Here you go, dear." The lady smiled kindly at Chewie. "I hope you enjoy every bit of your candy."

Chewie growled his thanks.

"You're welcome, hun." Still smiling, the lady prepared to close the front door. "Happy Halloween."

"Hey, wait just a minute!" Han quickly put his foot in the door, stopping the lady from shutting it as he glared at her from underneath the white sheet. "Where's my candy?!"

"No candy for you!" The old lady's sweet smile disappeared to be replaced by a cranky scowl. "You don't get any for trying to trick-or-treat in such a lame outfit like that!"

"Lame?!" Han repeated, aghast.

"You need to make yourself a really impressive outfit." The lady's smile returned as she turned back towards Chewie. "Like your friend's wookie costume here!"

Chewie let off a happy growl at the compliment he'd received.

"That isn't a costume, lady!" Han protested. "My friend here really is a wookie! He's not in costume, I am! Now gimmie some candy!"

"Don't you speak to me like that, young man! It's manners you want, not candy!"

With her scowl returning to her wrinkled old face, the old lady grabbed a nearby brolly and proceeded to use it to hit Han's head. The sheet that was covering him wasn't enough to protect the small boy. He yelped in pain as he was struck on the head before falling backwards off the doorstep to crash to the ground.

"Now get off my property, you little brat!" The old lady screeched at Han, almost sounding like a fierce witch. "An don't ever come back!"

The old lady slammed the door shut as hard as he could. Han sat up on the ground, rubbing his sore head as he cast a glare towards the door that had closed on his face.

Chewie stood over his friend, gazing down at him - and unable to help laughing over what had happened.

"Blast it, Chewie!" Han cursed as he scrambled to his feet. "This is the tenth house we've been trick-or-treating to tonight - and not one person has given me any candy! Everyone thinks my costume is uncool! They keep giving all the candy to you, because they think you're some kid in a wookie costume - when you're not!"

Chewie shrugged. then began eating one of the many candy bars he had been giving that night.

"Hey, gimmie some candy, pal!" Han demanded, reaching out to take some of the goodies in his friend's furry hands."

Chewie grunted, holding the all the candy he'd been given out of the small human's reach. He roared down at the young boy.

"You don't deserve any of that! You're not in costume, I am! That should all be my candy! Now gimmie some!"

Chewie roared again before raising a hairy arm to forcibly shove Han back away from him.

Han rubbed the spot on his body where the wookie had pushed him and cast an irate glare from under his ghost costume. "That's it, Chewie! You can't trick-or-treat with me anymore!"

Chewie growled his reply, making it clear he didn't care.

"Fine! If you wanna be that way, pal, go ahead! I'll have better luck getting my own candy without ya!"

With that, Han turned away from his tall fuzzy companion. He stormed off away from him, determined to fill his empty pumpkin bucket with lots of treats by the end of the night.

Chewie remained where he was as he watched Han grumble away. His furry face was scrunched up intensely into an annoyed scowl...

...which quickly disappeared when he saw where his friend was heading towards.

Too consumed by his temper, Han hadn't realised that he was not heading towards any houses - but had disappeared off into the nearby dark woods. He had quickly been swallowed up by the tall trees and could no longer be seen. There was no way he would find anyone to get candy from there - but Chewie was sure that he would easily find trouble.

With his annoyance towards the young human subsiding, Chewie ran over to the wall of trees. He peered through them into the bleak, misty abyss beyond. There was no sign of Han. He must have already gone really far ahead in his mood swing.

Chewie roared out for his friend, but there was no reply. The wookie was already beginning to worry for the small boy's safety. Plucking up all his courage, he headed off into the pitch blackness of the woods, beginning to search for his friend - regardless of how scared he was.

"I don't need, Chewie! Why should I trick-or-treat with someone who doesn't bother to dress up for Halloween? All he's done tonight is take my candy!"

Han was rambling to himself over how unfair be believed Chewie had been towards him that evening. He was convinced he was the one who had the high ground. He continued to walk aimlessly through the dark woods, too lost in his own outrages and cockiness to realise he wasn't going through civilisation.

"Nope! I ain't hanging out with that candy-stealing fuzzball for the rest of tonight! It's Solo going solo tonight! Just me, all alone, on Halloween-"

Han was cut off from talking to himself as he tripped over a fallen branch on the ground. He stumbled forwards a few yards - and that was enough to snap him of his self-absorbed temper. He glanced around to find himself in the middle of the dark woods. Everything all around him looked so eerie with the bare trees and the swirling mist. A knot tightened in Han's stomach. The spooky situation he had gotten himself into wouldn't be so bad - if he had his wookie companion by his side.

"Yep..." he murmured to himself. "Just me...all alone...on Halloween..."

"Guess again, Solo!"

A voice suddenly exploded from behind Han's back. There was no need for him to swing around to see who it was - as he felt two pairs of hands grabbing hold of his arms, causing his empty bucket to fall from his hand. He was unable to wriggle free as they gripped onto him firmly before turning him around to face the one who the voice belonged to.

Even with the pitch darkness that shrouded the woods, Han had no trouble recognising the person who stood before him as he looked at them through the small holes that had been cut out of the white sheet for his eyes to see out of.

"Oh... Hey, Greedo!"

"Out for a bit of treat-or-treating, are you, Solo?" The thuggish Rodian sneered at the small human who he took pleasure in bullying. "Don't think you'll be finding any candy out in these woods..."

"Oh no, Greedo, I came out here in search of inspiration for a Halloween story I'm telling the local younglings tonight." Han sneered. "I'd just new I'd find some creepy, hideous creature out here to give me ideas. Boy, will those kids be terrified when I tell them about how I ran into you!"

Greego snickered, not the least bit offended by the insult Han made about his appearance. "As they should be! Everyone should be scared of a tough guy like me! It's time you were too, especially without your wookie friend around! Where is that brainless hairball you hang out with by the way?"

"He's off by himself." Han tried to free himself out of the grips of Greedo's two buddies to no avail. "I'm trick-or-treating on my own tonight!"

"In that?!" Greedo pointed at the white sheet that was covering the boy before howling with laughter. "That's a pathetic Halloween costume - although I would hardly expect anything impress from a loser like you, Solo!"

"Yeah, well, you never need to worry about putting on a costume, do ya, Greedo? Halloween's the only day of the year a face like yours is acceptable to be seen in public!"

That was enough for Greedo. His laughter ceased as he glared threateningly at Han. He nodded towards his sidekicks who were keeping him held in place.

"Boys! Get that pathetic costume off Solo! I want to see his stupid face - when I bust it!"

Still holding securely onto the small boy, Greedo's friends pulled the white sheet off of him. There was no terror visible in Han's face as he glared at his bully, still unsuccessfully trying to break free of his sidekicks' clutches.

"Well, Solo..." Greedo clenched his fist and rubbed his knuckled against his palm. "You came out tick-or-treating, right? Well here's my treat to you. I'm sure you'll find it a really scary one!"

Han glared silently. He braced himself to take the Rodian's fist to his face. There was no way he was going to show any fear and give him the satisfaction.

Smiling nastily at his victim, Greedo raised his fist, preparing to smash it into the boy's face as hard as he could. "Happy Halloween, Solo-"

"ROOOAAARRR!"

Greedo and his friends jumped with fright at the sudden angry growl that had exploded from nearby. The thug's fist was halted from striking Han's face as his henchmen let the young human go. They swung around with terrified looks to face who had sprang onto them, alarm filling their faces when they saw who it was.

There in the dim moonlight and swirling mist stood a tall, angry, hairy creature. It was one which Greedo and his friends had no trouble recognising from all the times they had tried to bully Han. Never before had they seen him look so terrifying. He towered dangerously over them, eyes wild, sharp teeth bared, looking ready to rip them all apart.

"It's the wookie!" Greedo squealed fearfully.

"Chewie!" Han cried in relief.

Chewbacca let off another roar, one which was loud enough to fill the whole forest. It shook the bare trees and caused bats that were nesting in them to fly away. It was a sign of how dangerous the wookie was whenever anyone tried to hurt his best friend.

Greedo's henchmen both squealed like little girls. They were terrified of Chewie- just as much as their boss was. He no longer felt tough or smug in front of the hairy beast who was always ready to protect Han whenever he tried to bully him. There was no way the cowardly Rodian was going to stick around to feel the wrath of the wookie.

"Let's get outta here!"

With a frightened yell, Greedo sprinted off away from Han and Chewie. His sidekicks raced after him. All ran as fast as their legs would carry them as they disappeared off into the woods. They were quickly swallowed up by the darkness, their screams fading as they disappeared into the distance.

Now all alone with his furry saviour, Han gazed up at Chewie, a rare smile of gratitude on his face.

"Boy, am I glad to see you, Chewie. You really came to my rescue there."

Chewie grunted his reply.

"I'm sorry I was mean to ya, pal. I shouldn't have stormed off into these woods without you by my side. You always come through for me whenever Greedo tries to give me trouble."

"Rawr!"

"I know. One day, I'll be able to take him on by myself." Han put an arm around his friend's hairy body. "But there's no way I'll be splitting off from you. Nothing can break up the duo of Han Solo and Chewbacca."

A smile crossed Chewie's face at Han's remark about their friendship. He growled happily down at his best friend. He knew the two of them would be friends for life. No matter what came in the way of his trouble-finding friend, he would always be there to protect him. He was as loyal to the young human as a dog to his master. Whatever perils would come his way, the wookie would be there to help and protect him.

"Hey!" Han suddnly cried. "What that?"

The clouds in the sky had drifted completely away from the mood, allowing more light to fill up the forest and clear away the mist. The boy and the wookie could now see that something was laying on the ground where Greedo was standing. It was clear he had dropped something in his terror when Chewie had scared him off.

Han made his way over to the object and lifted it up - before a smile appeared on his face when he saw what it was.

It was a plastic pumpkin bucket - exactly like his own one.

Unlike his one, however, Greedo's was filled with candy.

"Well..." Han cocked an eyebrow as he directed the smirk on his face towards Chewie. "I don't think Greedo deserves any of this after what he tried to do to me..."

Chewie growled agreeably, knowing exactly what his friend was planning.

"And the creatures in these woods can't eat any of it! It would be a shame to let all this candy go to waste - soooo..."

Not needing to finish saying what he had in mind, Han picked up his own empty pumpkin bucket where he had dropped it. He began to empty all of the candy in Greedo's into his. In no time, Han's bucket was filled with lots of Halloween candy - which he intended to share with his best friend who had rescued him.

"C'mon, Chewie! Let's go home and eat our Halloween candy!"

Chewie growled heartily, following Han through the woods as they started to make their way out. He listened to the sounds of the treats shuffling inside the bucket. He couldn't wait for the two of them to get home - so they could enjoy it together.

"Halloween candy sure is great," Han commented, peering down at all the goodies that filled the pumpkin bucket he was carrying. "Especially when it's from a bully who's just had karma served to them."

"Rawr!"

Han turned to face the tall, fuzzy wookie who was walking alongside him. He had understood perfectly what he had just said in his own unique way of communication. He smiled widely, knowing Chewie had just told him that he was his best friend.

"I know," Han said smugly. "Happy Halloween, Chewie!"

The end.
