A/N: Howdy folks, Mirror drakon here with the story of one Michael Mercury. A young man with a rather amazing quirk known as Autonomous Movement; This Qurk allows him to enter a state, the only noticeable change being his brown eyes turning silver, where all of his his limbs move of their own accord (Like Ultra Instinct). This Quirk drains his energy rapidly as his body is forced to expend a lot more effort to keep up. Downside: outside of the energy drain is the fact that his body will move but if his reflexes aren't up to par the movement and/or block will fail because he couldn't keep up. Also a lot like with Ultra Instinct the defensive half of the quirk will come easy(ish) but training himself to not override his quirk when on the attack will be a lot harder and will be a major weak point for him for a good while. Also, certain things will follow canon but there will be a lot of divergences.
Disclaimer: I own nothing but Michael Mercury

Chapter 1: Dream to be a hero
Tying his shoes, the hopeful eyes of one Michael Mercury look ahead as he runs towards his moms car. Giggling to himself the four year old straps himself in as his mother starts the car and heads towards his doctor.
"So, Are you excited Michael todays the day we get your quirk registered!"
Smiling at his mothers question he throws his hands up "yes mom, I can't wait to find out more! I bet its super awesome and I can become a hero like Allmight or Stars and Stripes!".
Seeing his smile Merissa Mercury can't help but enjoy her son's enthusiasm. Honestly she was a bit worried as her son had turned 5 last week and she was scared he'd be quirkless. Not that she'd love him less but more along the lines of she knew how kids acted towards a quirkless classmate.
Walking in while holding his mothers hand he can't help but jump in excitment as they walk into the exam room. Dr. Hampshire was a nice man who loved quirks, so he was just as excited as Michael to test his quirk.
The testing had been going on for 15 minutes in which Michael was tested on how his quirk activated and worked. While the boy dodged slow ball pitches like he has been doing it his whole life Dr. Hampshire and Marissa were having their own conversation.
"So Ms. Mercury, your son's quirk is simply intriguing. His ability to dodge instinctually to avoid or defend is amazing. As you know we can only do preliminary testing but-" his attention was taken away as Michael started to slow down before collapsing.
Jumping to her feet, Marissa runs to her son's side worriedly scnanning him "What's wrong with him?" Before the doctors check his vitals his voice stern "his blood sugar has dropped dramatically probably from overuse". Sighing in relief, Marissa picks her son up to set him in a chair while the nurse goes to get him something to eat.
(Straight Michael POV)
Finishing up the registration, Mom took me to get ice cream and we were going to the park for me to play around. After finishing my mint chip I immediately ran towards the swings. Hoping on I swing, enjoying the feel of the air against my face until a sound catches my ear.
Getting off the swings I follow the sound until I come upon something that angers me. Three boys were picking on a girl! My feet moved before I could process it "Hey leave her alone!"
The boys stopped their teasing to look at me charging at them, before I threw a punch at the middle bully. My fist connected to his cheek and knocked him down. The two other bullies snapped out of their shock and went to attack me. The black haired bully to my left goes to punch me in the face and with an 'eip' my quirk activated on reflex.
My mind calmed as my body moved on it's own. Dodging one hit was all I got before my quirk timed out and I flopped on the ground. I got two kicks to my side before I noticed that the girl I tried to save had left and come back with an adult… 'Oh no that's mom'. The boys run off once they see the adult and I get a good look at the girl; soft round face with a small, almost unnoticeable cow like muzzle, blonde hair, very blue eyes, and really long horns.
After getting myself up and dusting myself off, Mom came over and started to fuss "Oh baby, I was worried where you went. Are you okay? Are you hurt?". Getting a shake of the head as her answer my mom sighs before he expression changes to her upset face "I can not believe you started a fight Michael! You should of come and get me sweetie, I-"
She was cut off as a tall woman that looked like an older version of the blonde girl but with brown hair rushes over and starts talking to her in a language I don't understand. After a quick conversation the woman turns to my mom and extends a hand "Hi I'm Mako Tsunotori, I'm so sorry, I walked away and came back to find my daughter missing".
My mothers nervous chuckling was the first thing I heard before she shook the ladies hand "No worries, my son found her being picked on and though he went the wrong way about it his heart was in the right place". Pouting at being called out I huffed and looked away.
Hearing a shuffling of feet I look forward into the big blue eyes of the girl I saved. Holding her hand out she gives me a shaky smile "H-hi, thank you for helping me. I'm Pony Tsunotori". Returning the smile I shake her hand "I'm Michael Mercury, Nice to meet you. Bullies suck so my feet… kinda just moved on their own".
Letting go of one anothers hands the parents handed something off to each other and then we left. The drive back was quiet until my mom broke the silence "I know I acted like I was mad, and don't get me wrong I was, but I'm very proud of you for immediately going to defend that girl, My little hero".
Still smiling, as my mom put me to bed, my last thought before falling to sleep was 'I really wanna be a hero'.
A/N: So this is the first chapter of my story "American Dream: To be a Hero" and this chapter and next chapter will be pre-UA. And no I will not tell if Pony will stay the childhood friend or will that bloom into something else, you will have to wait and see. See you next time.
