New Faces
The Sanctuary
3rd Person Pov
"N-No! Please don't die!" Holding her tiny hands over the gruesome wounds, Beatrice heals her contractor till his appearance is back to normal. With the wounds closed, that just leaves the matter of him waking up. The spirit collapses on Ren, tired and low on mana. "Please wake up…Don't leave Betty alone again…" Sobbing into his chest, she continues waiting for him to wake up.
Not too far from the two, is a blue haired maid. Her eyes locked onto the prone figure of the boy who protected and risked his life for her. 'Why? I…I didn't deserve to be saved, but he still did it anyway. I was useless against the Witch Cultist, and yet he decided to still save me…'
Her thoughts are interrupted as the smell of the Witch hits her nose again. 'They're Back! I won't let them get to him! Even if it costs me my life!' Pulling her flail out, she waits for the cultist to show.
The shrubs open up to reveal a teenage boy with messy hair and sharp eyes, a confused look on his face. Once his eyes reach Rem, his eyes soften up as he looks at her with a mix of joy, shock, and relief. "Rem! You're awake!" As tries to take another step, he quickly jumps out of the way of her attack.
"Die, Witch Cultist!"
"What!? It's me Rem! Don't you recognize me?" He asks with tears in his eyes.
"I don't know how you got my name, but I won't allow you to hurt him!" Standing protectively in front of her savior, she awaited for the cultist to make his move.
"Huh? Why is Beako here? Hold on, listen to me Re-" Lost on what's happening the boy tries to reason with the maid.
"You have no right to call me by my name! Not after what you've done!" Another attack to end the confused boy's life.
Castle Of Dreams…
Ren Pov
"Never thought I'd be here again. Especially after our contract ended, Echidna." Sitting back down in this chair was not in my plans.
"That's strange…I can't seem to get a hold of your memories."
"And you aren't going to, I believe I've shared enough, no? Ah, right. Wrong Echidna." I can't allow myself to slip up especially against a greedy woman like Echidna.
"Oh? Have we met before? I remember faces well, but you don't come to mind at all. And you mentioned a contract? I'd happily give you my hand in a contract, but I believe you haven't introduced yourself."
"I'm Ren, and no thanks. I could never betray Betty like that, especially after I promised. In regards to if we met…I'll leave that to your imagination." Sitting in a relaxed position, I notice a strange feel tugging on me. "Oh? Are the other Witches here? Do give them my regards, I'd love to meet them again, but I have a cute spirit girl to comfort. Toodles!" Feeling my spirit leave, I see the witch start to panic.
Back In The Sanctuary
"Haah!" Taking a deep breath in, all 3 pairs of eyes look at me. 'Wait? 3 pairs? Who the hell is the kid?' Feeling Betty hug me even tighter, I can't help but smile and hug her back. "Hey, don't worry. I'm still alive and kicking."
"I wasn't worried. I suppose." I hear her say from my chest.
"Really? Then you wouldn't mind if I just up and died right now?" I'm obviously joking, but honestly I've lost so much blood that I might as well be dying.
"Please don't! Betty needs you!"
Now I feel bad. "I'm sorry Betty, that was wrong of me to say…Hm? Oh, Rem! You're alive, thank goodness. Ram would've killed me if something happened to you. And uh…You're not part of our group, who are you kid?" I ask the boy that looks like he's about to piss himself from fear.
He opens his mouth to speak, but Rem doesn't give him a chance to speak. "Ren-kun! He's a Witch Cultist, don't believe a word he says!" Eh? Really?
"You sure about that, Rem? Because, this kid looks really weak, like if he were to take one hit he'd be all the way to the moon." The two residents of this world look at me strangely, but as I Observe the guy, I find something really hilarious. "This guy's not a Witch Cultist, he's an Emilia Simp! Emilia's Self-Proclaimed Knight? Keke Hehe… That's the funniest thing ever." The boy flushes at my comment.
"Hoo…Don't kill the kid, Rem. If I had to guess, the guy has an unlucky smell. Even if he tried fighting us, he'd never win, no offense of course." His face was even more flushed, probably a mix of anger and embarrassment. "Trust me on this one, Rem." And she does, putting her Flail away into…I don't know actually, probably for the best that I don't find out. "So, kid. You gonna piss yourself, or are you going to introduce yourself."
Looks like he's had enough of me fucking with him. "I'm not taking this trash talk! Who the hell even are you?! How are you with Rem and Beako?! And how is Rem awake!?" His outburst actually annoys both of my companions, because the second he's done, they're aiming their spells at him.
"Stop you guys, his reaction is completely justified. Now…kid."
"Subaru." He says, I knew his name already, but it's better if he introduces himself.
"Right, Subaru. Now normally, I wouldn't give this information away to just anyone, but you're kind of an exception since you come from earth." His eyes widened in surprise from my mention of our home planet. "Yeah, I know you're not from here, tracksuit kind of gives it away. But to answer your questions, I am Ren Fujimura, and this is Beatrice and Rem, but you knew that already. We were on our way to the Capital when we were attacked by the Witch Cult, and the White Whale. After the fight we were surprise attacked by another Witch Cultist, so I made the in the moment decision of transporting ourselves to another world, in other words, here." My words surprise Rem as well.
"Sorry Rem, I did what I thought was best. You can hate me if you want, I understand." Expecting her to be mad at me, I put my head down in shame.
Instead, I feel myself get engulfed in a hug. "I understand Ren-kun, you saved my life. But I won't lie, I am upset that I wasn't able to say goodbye to Nee-sama."
Noticing our position, I quickly separate before I piss the kid off even more. "Ahem, like I was saying, I transported us to an alternate timeline. And um…I don't really understand that last question. Shouldn't she always be awake? She isn't sleepwalking if that's what you're talking about."
"But the Archbishop of Gluttony ate her name and memories! Even the best healer in the country couldn't bring them back!"
"Like I said, different reality, don't think too hard about it. I'm sure she'll wake up soon enough. Now! Do you have anywhere I can get some food? I'm pretty low on blood, who knows what could happen if I don't eat something." Standing up, my legs start to wobble a little, I would have fallen if it weren't for Rem. "Thank you."
"Hold on! I don't really understand it much, but you guys can't be here! It's too dangerous." He tries warning us, but I can't really take him seriously because he's level 5. "Please, you gotta listen to me! The Great Hare is on its way! And the Mansion is going to be attacked by assassins any day now!"
"Haa…No offense kid, but you are weak. Like really weak. What could you do against those two? You're not strong enough to beat one of Daphne's creations, and if my guess is correct, it wouldn't take much for Elsa to chop you up like dinner."
"You don't think I know that!? I fight and I fight and yet everything still goes wrong! I can't do anything right! It's all my fault! And that's why, I will solve everything, whatever it takes." How greedy, but very admirable. Such selfish selflessness is very rare for someone so weak.
"I wasn't finished. I'll help you out, but you've gotta tell me everything." And surprisingly he does, in a better environment of course.
"..."
"That is…He…Hehehe. I'm sorry, it's just. Wow, You must have really pissed off Echidna for her to do that. Phew...First order of business is, what do you plan on doing? Because it looks like you're stuck between a Mountain and another Mountain."
"I think you mean a roc-"
"I know what I said." Despite my confidence, I have just gone from a bad situation to another. "Do you have anyone else who will help us?"
"I can't ask Emilia for help when she's so busy, and Ram wouldn't help me if it goes against Roswaal's wishes, and…"
"I believe I can help you, Natsuki-san." Who's this forgettable guy?
"Otto! What are you doing here?" Ah, is he an important member of the Emilia Camp?
Fixing the ugly green hat on their head, he introduces himself. "I am Otto Suwen, a merchant indebted to Natsuki-san." So no one in particular got it. "I happened to overhear what you were all speaking of, I can be of service to you all if you'd like." I guess a way of transportation would be nice.
"No offense, but this does absolutely nothing for us. If you don't have a plan, I at least have a half baked one for the fighting. Rem can stay here to deal with evacuating the villagers, and Betty and I will deal with Elsa and her little sister. That just leaves Ros, This world's Betty, Garfiel, Ram, and Emilia's test."
"I'll handle all of that, I need you and your Beako to deal with Elsa and keep everyone at the mansion safe." That look of determination on his face is wild, but he seems like a trustworthy guy, so I'll put my faith in him.
"Alright kiddo, do your thing, I'm going hunting for a Bowel Hunter…After I eat some more of course." I continue stuffing myself with steamed tatoes made by a certain pinkette. The sound of the door opening reaches my ears again as I turn to see Rem come back inside from her conversation with Ram. She just sits down next to me, as she lays her head on my shoulder. 'That bad, huh?' Feeling a gaze bore into me, I find Subaru glaring intensely at me. "Your eyes will pop out of your head if you glare that hard. Was this world's Rem important to you?"
"She was." Seems he doesn't want to talk about it.
"Well too bad, this is my Rem. The best Rem." I say patting her head, trying to both calm down the downtrodden Rem on my shoulder and the now silent Subaru.
"Yeah right! My Rem is obviously better! She risked her life just so I could live, and she said she loves me!" Oh? Guess he might be right. Ha! As if!
"Now, now. Please don't argue." Otter interjects, misunderstanding the tone of our conversation. Subaru and I just start laughing at the misunderstanding. "Was it something I said?"
"Subaru? Who is this?" The soft voice of Emilia questions from beside me. 'Oh, I didn't expect her to be here, I should probably leave.'
"I think I'm going to get some rest, Other, can you take me to a guest room or something?" This is your problem to deal with, Subaru-boyo.
"My name is Otto! Otto, get it?"
"Sure whatever you say, Onto."
Some Room
"Alright you two, I think you guys deserve an explanation, but first let me do this
…Invite to Party, Rem and Beatrice."

That was something, eh? Now I know what I said, New World next chapter, Game world next chapter. But then a thought hit me, how the fuck am I going to leave the Re:Zero world with only 6 chapters of him just chilling in the mansion, and like 2 are outside the mansion.
So no more of that, we're going balls to the wall timeline travel until he finishes both of the requirements.
Honestly? I'm kinda hoping you guys don't mind this, I just think this might be better for the story. Than him just traveling to a different world each 8 chapters.
Now for the juicy part, it seems Rem has fallen head over heels for our protagonist and he doesn't have a clue. I wonder who will tell him?
Now you might be wondering if this is the envy route, then what was the last timeline? I shall call it The Sinless Route.
Now onto a small issue, two protagonists? That's no good. Well don't worry reader, after arc 4 Ren isn't planning on staying any longer with the Emilia Camp. I wonder where he's going? "Cough" The Capital or Priestella or Kararagi. "Cough", Sorry about that. Bad cough.
Oh, and this isn't the last timeline he's going to, who knows? He may even find himself in a completely unknown timeline.
