"What's taking Weiss so long!" Azure sighed out loud. He was waiting for Weiss as they were to board the airship to the kingdom of Vale together. Waiting together with him was their family butler, Klein.
"Please be patient, Master Azure, I am sure your sister has her reasons for being late," Klein said.
Azure just sighed out loud as he sat on his only luggage. He knew Weiss had more things to pack as she needed to bring Dust along for her weapon, but it should not have taken her this long.
"Sorry, I'm late!" Azure turned his head and was shocked to see Weiss pushing a luggage cart with a hefty amount of luggage.
"My goodness Weiss, do you need that much luggage? You know we have more luggage that was already shipped to beacon right?" Azure asked impatiently.
"Of course I do. And if you must know, I have my Dust, my weapon, my makeup, my-" Weiss explained but gets cut off by Azure.
"Okay, okay, I get it. Girls have more delicate things to pack than boys, and you have Dust to pack, blah blah blah. Let's make a move or we're going to be late." Azure said.
"Hmph!" Weiss turned away with her arms crossed.
"Are you sure you don't want to wait a little longer?" Klein asked the twins as the two of them looked at Klein. The twins looked at each other, already knowing the answer.
They looked back at Klein. Weiss was the first to speak. "Winter is too busy to come."
"And Father couldn't be bothered to even see us off." Azure continued.
"And Mother is probably drinking again somewhere." Weiss finished. Klein then looked down in sadness as he knew they were right. "But we are happy that you came, Klein," Weiss said as Klein looked up to face the twins again.
"Yeah! as far as we're concerned, you're our family too," Azure said as he put a hand on his shoulder. Klein smiled with tears forming in his eyes as the three of them hugged together.
"Be well." Weiss wished Klein as the three of them pulled apart.
"You too, Mistress Weiss and Master Azure. I'm sure you'll both become fine huntsmen and huntresses and will carry on the legacy of Master Nicholas Schnee." Klein said as he wiped his tears. The twins smiled as they walked with their luggage waving goodbye to Klein.
Beacon Academy, was the place in vale where huntsmen and huntresses were born. It is situated just before an impressive cliff edge that overlooks the city. An airship docked at the landing zone. Its gate opened as the many initiates left the airship, and one of them puked into a nearby trash can. As the crowd died out, two more initiates left the airship with a hefty amount of luggage. Weiss and Azure Schnee moved a luggage cart with their belongings.
"We're finally here!" Azure said with excitement as he looked toward his sister, "Aren't you excited?" Azure asked while still pushing the luggage cart.
"Of course I am, this is one of the best schools in the world. We'll be able to study and team up with the best of the best." Weiss said proudly.
"Seriously? We are finally out of father's grasp and the first thing you're excited about is the study?" Azure said, teasing his sister.
"Shut up!" Weiss fired back while Azure lets out a small chuckle. Suddenly, a small red hooded girl fell backwards onto their luggage cart, knocking their pieces of luggage over.
"What are you doing?" Weiss yelled at the girl in anger.
"Uh …. sorry!" The girl in the red hood apologized as she tried to get up.
"Sorry?! Do you have any idea of the damage you could have caused!?" Weiss yelled at the girl in the red hood.
"Uhh…" the girl in red hood tried to reply but was unable to utter a proper sentence as her head was still spinning. Weiss then picked up one of the luggage and opened it revealing that Dust was kept inside of it.
"This is Dust, mined and purified from the Schnee Quarry," Weiss said as she took a bottle of Fire Dust out of the luggage to show it to her.
"Uhh.." the girl in red hood said again, still trying to get her head straight.
"What are you, brain dead?" Weiss kept yelling while shaking the Dust, causing some of it to spill out. "Fire, water, lightning, ene-" Weiss continued but got cut off by Azure.
"Okayyyyy, that's enough!" Azure said as he grabbed Weiss's hand. "Stop shaking it or we are all gonna explode," Azure said as he took away the bottle of Dust from Weiss and put it back into the luggage.
"Are you alright?" Azure asked the girl in the red hood, offering her a hand.
"I'm fine, thanks." The girl in the red hood reached for the hand as Azure pulled her up. Azure finally got a good look at her. His face started turning red and blushing heavily when he looked at the girl's silver eyes and saw how cute she was.
She was a fair-skinned young girl with silver eyes and neck-length black hair with red tips. She wore a black long-sleeved blouse with a high collar and red trim on the sleeves, over which was a black waist cincher with red lacing up the front, and a matching skirt with red lining. She also wore a pair of thick black stockings and black combat boots with red laces, red trims around the top, and red soles. Her outfit is topped by a red hooded cloak fastened to her shoulders by cross-shaped pins. A large silver cross is pinned to her wide black belt. Attached to her belt are a pocket and a row of bullets.
Azure wasn't the only one who started to blush, the girl in the red hood started to blush heavily as well. The two stared at each other for a moment until Azure finally spoke.
"I uh, I'm Azure, Azure Schnee. That's my twin sister Weiss Schnee. What's um … what's your name?" Azure asked while trying to regain composure.
"I'm uh Ruby, Ruby Rose," Ruby replied, not knowing how to respond as she had never felt a feeling like this before.
"Ruby? That's a nice name." Azure said while blushing.
"Oh, um, errr, thank you," Ruby replied as she blushed harder, looking down with a smile and her hands behind her back.
"Unbelievable! Not only are you nice to a girl, who is a complete dolt! You're flirting with her?!" Weiss yelled in anger.
"What are you talking about, I wasn't flirting." Azure tried to defend himself but was ignored as Weiss turned to face Ruby.
"What are you even doing here? Aren't you a little young to be attending Beacon?" Weiss asked in fury.
"Well …. I ….." Ruby tried to answer, but Weiss interrupted again.
"This isn't your ordinary combat school. It's not just sparring and practice, you know. We're here to fight monsters. Only the best of the best comes here to become proud huntsmen. It's no place for a dolt and a child like yourself!" Weiss exclaimed.
"Hey, I said I was sorry, you stuck-up Princess." Ruby fired back, having enough of Weiss's attitude. Weiss was about to say something and Azure was about to stop her but a voice caught the attention of all three of them.
"It's Heiress, actually." A fair-skinned young woman with wavy black hair and amber eyes walked toward to group.
She was a fair-skinned young woman with wavy black hair and amber eyes. She wore a black buttoned vest with coattails. Underneath this was a white, sleeveless, high-necked, crop undershirt and white shorts with a zipper on the front of each leg. She also wore black low-heeled boots and full stockings with a colour gradation of black to purple at her ankles. Her emblem was visible on the outside of both thighs. On her left arm was a black detached sleeve with a silver cuff around her bicep, and black ribbons were wrapped around both forearms. A small, loose, black scarf was wrapped around her neck, and a grey magnetic backpack was strapped to her back. A black ribbon was tied with a large bow on the top of her head. She wore purple eye shadow in cat eye style.
"Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world." The girl explained
Now filled with pride, Weiss placed her hand on her hips and smirked. "Finally, some recognition."
"The same company infamous for its controversial labour forces of Faunus and questionable business partners." The girl commented.
"What- how dare you- the nerve of -." Weiss was taken aback by the girl while Ruby chuckled. Weiss wanted to approach the girl but Azure stopped her. Azure stood in front of Weiss and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Weiss, don't. Not here." Azure whispered with a stern voice. Weiss then stared at the girl for a moment.
"Ugh!" Weiss turned and walked away to pick up the pieces of luggage.
"And you're Azure Schnee, the black sheep of the family." The girl commented as Azure turned to face her.
"I prefer the term blue sheep. Blue is more my colour anyway." Azure joked.
"The one who did not inherit the family semblance and was ostracised by his father because of it." The girl comments.
"What!?" Ruby was shocked to hear that Azure is left out by his father. Unlike Weiss however, Azure simply smirked and was unfazed by the girl's comment.
"Yup, that's me!" Azure said with a smile. Both Ruby and the girl are now confused. How can anyone just take a comment like that without even flinching?
Azure noticed the confusion made by both girls and decided to continue talking." Sure it sucks being left out of the family stuff just because you're different, but sometimes life is unfair. I'm sure you understand that, right? Ummm -." Azure commented but had forgotten that he did not know the girl's name.
"Blake. I'm Blake Belladonna." Blake said emotionlessly.
"Right. Blake. I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from, right? In fact, I think you know about being unfairly treated more than I do. Cute ribbon, by the way." Azure commented with a smile, hinting at Blake what he knew.
Blake's eyes widened in shock as she stood there staring at Azure. Azure sensed the fear coming from Blake and spoke. "Don't worry, I'm not like my father. To me, it doesn't matter if you're uptight like my sister."
"Hey!" Weiss shouted from across.
"Or cute like the girl in the red hood." Azure continued. Ruby started to blush again. "I see people for who they are and not what they are," Azure said with a wide smile.
Blake stared at Azure for a moment. She could feel the sincerity in Azure's eyes. Maybe she could trust him.
"What?" Ruby said, having no idea what was going on. Azure then looked at Ruby and chuckled.
"Don't worry about it! Let's go. We don't want to be late." Azure said.
"Oh no, I'm not going anywhere with this dolt!" Weiss said sternly as she finished putting the pieces of luggage back onto the cart.
"Oh come on Weiss," Azure whined.
"Don't you 'oh come on me, I'm not risking an explosion because of her," Weiss said as she walked away, pushing the luggage cart herself.
"Man she needs to stop being so uptight around people," Azure said out loud.
"So what's -" Ruby said, turning to face Blake, only for Blake to be seen walking away.
Ruby's face saddened as she looked down and fell to her knees. Azure then placed a hand on her shoulder, comforting her.
"Hey, I'm here," Azure says as Ruby turned to see Azure smiling at her. She started to blush as she got up on her feet.
"Thanks," Ruby said as the two of them started walking towards Beacon.
"So not only did you take on Roman Torchwick, one of the most dangerous and vicious criminals in Vale, head-on. You managed to impress Professor Ozpin, the headmaster of Beacon academy, so much that he let you join two years early?" Azure asked Ruby, summarising the events of how Ruby got into Beacon Academy early.
"That's about sums it up, yeah," Ruby replied as the two slowly walked towards Beacon.
"How?" Azure asked.
"Well, I couldn't do it without … this," Ruby said as she stopped and took out her weapon from behind her. The weapon expanded and formed a scythe.
"Woah! Is that a scythe?" Azure asked with enthusiasm. He had never known anyone wielding a scythe.
"It's also a customizable, high-impact velocity sniper rifle," Ruby explained with pride.
"That's so cool!" Azure exclaimed. "Mind if I take a closer look?" Azure asked.
"Of course!" Ruby replied with a big smile.
Azure leaned over, inspecting the design of her weapon. Azure knew the difficulty of wielding a scythe, which was why not many people used it as their weapon of choice. It required the user to be ambidextrous. He then noticed that the controls of her weapon were designed for a lefty.
"You're left-handed?" Azure asked Ruby curiously.
"Yes, I am. How did you know?" Ruby asked, not sure where Azure was going with this.
"Well, the design of your weapon is for left-handed people, and for you to wield the scythe properly, you have to be ambidextrous. Seeing how you're a left-handed person means, you trained and mastered ambidexterity. Impressive!" Azure explained while also praising Ruby.
"Hehehehe. Thank you! I even designed her myself though I might've gotten a little overboard. I'm kind of a dork when it comes to weapons." Ruby said excitedly, She was extremely happy that she finally met someone with an eye for weapons as well.
"What's her name?" Azure asked. Knowing full well that a girl like Ruby would definitely name her weapon.
"I call her, Crescent Rose," Ruby said pridefully. Crescent Rose was her pride weapon, designing it back in Signal Academy.
"Fitting," Azure said with a smile.
"So, what've your got?" Ruby asked Azure. She was hoping maybe Azure would have something cool like her Crescent Rose.
"Mine isn't as fancy as yours but I'm sure a weapon dork like you will know its value," Azure smirked as he unsheathed Ocean, showing it to Ruby.
"Oh my God! Is that a Yoshihara-made katana?" Ruby asked excitedly, not believing her eyes.
"I knew you would be able to recognize it," Azure said happily. He's happy someone finally recognized the value of Ocean.
"Oh, how could I not! It's made out of Auranite. A metal that is sensitive and can be easily imbued with the user's aura for extra power. It was the signature material used by the legendary Yoshihara, one of the greatest swords smiths that ever lived. He was the only one who managed to forge weapons using Auranite. No one knows his secret as he took it to the grave with him." Ruby explained, completely geeking out about the katana. "Ooh, I'm so jealous! I followed everything he did when I was younger. How'd you get your hands on it? What's its name? Where'd you find it? Are there more?" Ruby asked excitedly as she got closer and closer to Azure with each question causing him to blush.
"Its name is Ocean. A friend gave it to me, he thinks that I'll be able to this to better use than he'll ever be able to. It's probably the only few remaining." Azure explained while Ruby continued to ogle over Ocean.
"That's so cool!" Ruby exclaimed.
When Ruby finally took her eye off Ocean, she realized how close she was to Azure and started to blush. The two of them just stare into each other eyes, silver meeting blue. Neither of them looked away. They could feel the attraction to one another, but neither made a move.
"We should probably go," Azure said as he got back to his senses and looked away.
"Yeah, you're right! We don't want to be late." Ruby said as she took a step back.
The two continue their walk to Beacon amphitheatre, neither saying anything to the other.
