"Pandora's Box"

When I was seven and you were four

you were taken from my world.

He told me it was his fault, lamented (but not for long)

over the child that wasn't really his.

You were more my brother than his son, anyway.

We had the chance to get together again, but Pandora's Box had been opened...

Within

and without, you were all I had.

Yet I pushed you away more than you deserved,

afraid of what would happen when the box *without* was full;

Demons back in their place, but threatening to come out again.

When the world is right

we never are (as we should be...)

(together)

If I can't keep you within me,

I at least have to be near you.

Fearful of my own Demons, who don't have a box to go back to.

For it seems, that without you, my Pandora's Box has rusted open

and will not shut.

And please, I can't let hope escape too.
