Where was she? Her father said she hadn't returned home last night, it couldn't be. What other explanation was there for her disappearance? God if anything happened to her, it would be his fault. They met at the lake last night and she didn't want him to drop her because of her dad. He couldn't sit and wait for something to happen and the sheriff was to busy slamming him for her disappearance so he was going to do a little investigating himself. He traced what would have been her steps home from the lake until he found her sweater in the woods. In a few hours it would be dark. He could transform himself and pick up her scent. By midnight he'd made his way to a cave he'd never seen before. Once inside the cave it turned into a building with corridors and rooms, someone lived here. Her heard a sound from behind him so he stood waiting silently in the shadows to make sure no one was coming. When he was sure he was alone, he followed the sound back to a room he hadn't seen before. The temperature in the cave had to be in the thirties. Everything was dark he could barely see his hand in front of his face. The small whimpering was getting closer, it sounded like Sophia, but he wasn't going to get his hopes up. The sound was only a few feet away when he caught a glimpse of her. It was Sophia, no doubt in his mind.
"Sophia?" He called out just barely above a whisper.
"Who's there? Please don't hurt me." She said a little louder but still only a whisper. Her voice sounded hollow and shaky. He could make part of her out she was trembling and her hands and feet were bound.
"Sophia, it's me, Luke," he said moving towards her.
"Thank god" she said breaking down into tears.
"It's okay I'm going to get you out of here" he said trying to untie the ropes in the dark, with every movement of the rope she whimpered and cringed.
"I'm almost done, it's okay" He wished more than anything he could take her pain and this whole horrible ordeal away from her.
He'd finally untied the ropes and pulled her to her feet. She was to weak to hold herself up. He caught her before she could fall. "It's okay, I gotcha. I won't let ya fall, I promise," he said lifting her into his arms. She moved her arm around his neck and lay against his chest. Luke was amazed at how light she was he held her tightly against him as if trying to give her his warmth and strength. They carefully made their way out of the cave; outside the moon shone brightly lighting their way. After traveling about a mile into the woods, Luke found a downed tree that could be their cover for a few minutes. He carefully set her on the ground and then knelt in front of her. "Are you hurt? Did they hurt you?"
We she didn't answer he began to inspect her for injuries. She had a cut above her left eye and a big ugly bruise around it. He would kill the bastard that did this to her. He then examined her hands they were a few cuts and scrapes. He then pulled up her sleeves, he saw red, when he noticed the red bleeding barks on her wrists. They were on her ankles too.
"Luke, I'm okay," Sophia said reaching for him.
He pulled her against him and held her tight never wanting to let her go.
