Disclaimer: Paramount owns the characters and the original Angry Warrior story. This continuation, however, is my own, set after "Endgame."

Notes: This isn't exactly a spoiler for "Resolutions," but if you haven't seen it, this probably won't make any sense. The extended metaphor also gives away the ending to "Endgame."

THE ANGRY WARRIOR STORY CONTINUES...

JANEWAY:
The Angry Warrior followed his woman warrior for several years, dedicating himself to her and proving himself invaluable. They had shared a special bond, and under different circumstances they might have pursued a relationship. But the woman warrior had to win the war before that could happen. The Angry Warrior knew that, but he never could accept it.
One day their war party captured a beautiful woman from another tribe. She had been raised to hate the woman warrior and all who followed her, but she really was one of them. As a small child she had been captured. The woman warrior tried to help the beautiful woman adjust to their society. She was too successful, and slowly the focus of the Angry Warrior's attention turned to this beautiful woman.
The woman warrior was very hurt by this. She thought he would understand that the war had to be won first; she had thought that his vow of loyalty had gone beyond protecting her. But she had been wrong, horribly wrong.
By the time the woman warrior realized this, it was too late. The Angry Warrior was in love with the beautiful woman when they won the war. He had been crucial in winning the war. But now the woman warrior had to let him go on and love the beautiful woman, when she really wanted to yell at him and profess her love. I've waited for you, really. I may have had a fling or two, but so did you! I only asked you to wait as long as I had to; I never asked any more of you than I asked from myself! I love you, my Angry Warrior, and it hurts me to see you kiss the beautiful woman. I won the war, but I lost you.

CHAKOTAY:
The Angry Warrior waited for several years for the woman warrior to realize it was alright to love him. She was waiting for the war to be over, but it could be a very long war. There was nothing he could do but wait, so that's what he did. He waited faithfully for his woman warrior. He may have had a fling, but he never loved another woman but her. She had to know that.
But then their war party captured a beautiful woman who had been raised as an enemy, but really she was one of them who had been captured as a little girl. The woman warrior made sure to help her get used to living among them. But still she would not go beyond friendship with the Angry Warrior.
The beautiful woman was unique, and he began to feel attracted to her. He still cared deeply for the woman warrior, but she had waited too long. The Angry Warrior fell in love with the beautiful woman, and he was happy with her. He saw a glimpse of pain in the woman warrior's eyes when, at the end of the war, he was with the beautiful woman. He only saw it for a second before she buried at again.
He was sorry to hurt her. But did she really expect him to wait forever? I did love you, once. I would have walked into battle unarmed for you. And I still consider you a friend and a wonderful leader. But I don't love you anymore. Love can be immortal, but it needs nourishment. Latent feelings never did anything for us. I loved you, but if you loved me, you never let it show. I don't want to hurt you. But I have found someone I love who loves me back. That was what you did wrong, my brave woman warrior.
