A/N: AAAAAAAHH! I LOVE YOU GUYS!! YOU REVIEW!! And you're not afraid to say when you think I'm unclear or wrong! God, life is good! I don't get any reviews for a while then, all of a sudden, BAM! I come home and I have three more reviews!! Yes, I know some of y'all peeps out there are getting twenty reviews a day. Well, so far I have a grand total of eight, count'em, eight reviews, I'm takin' what I can get.

A/N: Clear this up: NO, no pokemon-human romantic passion love type thing. Drake and Belle's feelings are best friends, brother-sister type feelings-no sex. YOU HEARD ME. No sex in this story. I think that's sick-species barrier is kinda big. And also: Gack! damn spellchecker...

A/N: I'll shut up now. Read the story. And review. Y'all have been on a roll lately. Don't stop it now. ;)

Disclaimer: I don't own it. DUH. Don't have to be a brain surgeon to figure this out.

Some Sense of Right and Wrong-c.2

Drake was a strong man, both mentally and physically. He was a gym leader, a father, and a husband. It was very rare, also, for anyone to retain the title of 'Master' as long as he had. He had to be a strong man.

And this strong man, right now, was curled in the corner of the Pokemon Center waiting room, sobbing his eyes out.

Gently, he had relinquished her claw, and laid it over her. Still. She was so still. The pulse of her chest had stopped. Her claws were cold under his fingers. Her eyes, her deep green eyes were permanently closed shut, maybe as if they were ashamed, that the spark of life had left them so sudden. The warmth of her soul was gone from this world, just a memory of a better time. Just a memory of a better person. Just memories.

But these memories would never fade. Touched by such a beautiful heart, such a pure and gentle love, changes one so, that it can never be undone.

She had such a warm and gentle heart. He so hated to see her battle in the Orange League. Drake could not stand the sight of her in pain. It tore at his heart, to battle her, so he always, always, chose to battle her last, when he had no choice left at all. She as well disliked to battle other pokemon. She saw that they so loved their masters, their friends, that they desired nothing more than to make them happy, make them proud. These pokemon came into the ring with a fire burning in their eyes. Their dreams and determination were written so clearly, and with so much hope; it broke her heart to have to shatter them. But her love and respect for Drake, her knowledge of Drake's joyous dreams of the championships, made her swallow her distaste and go and fight for him, no matter how it pained her.

Drake wasn't like most other trainers. Most other trainers paid attention to their pokemon only to see them become better arena fighters, stronger, faster, deadlier. Drake, in contrast, loved to watch Belle fly. She flew so swiftly and easily, spinning, twirling, and diving, rejoicing in her health and vitality. Celebrating the life she so loved. Drake had promised Belle that one day, soon, she would be able to just fly all day, and never have to worry about fighting again.

Ironically, he had kept his promise to her. Though he had intended to be there when that day came...

Back in the corner, Drake took a deep sobbing breath. 'Be happy' he told himself. 'She's free from her torment. Be happy for her' These attempts to stifle his sobbing were futile. It was just a part of human nature to be selfish in times of pain and sorrow. Right now, he didn't care that her beautiful soul had gone to the heaven it deserved, he cared that she had left him, left him, in this world of hurt.

'Bullshit,' he thought angrily. 'I can't be happy. Never again!' Drake shook his head to clear it of these irrational thoughts. 'Don't lie,' he chided himself mentally. 'That's so shameful. You have a wife, and a daughter, as well as your other pokemon; and other friends. You're not alone Drake. not by a long shot.' That thought eased Drake's pain enough for him to stand, however shakily. Finally looking around through eyes blurred with tears, he noticed that all of his pokemon were standing in the center with him, as well as his wife, Martha, and his four-year old daughter, Marie, sorrow printed in their eyes. He wondered briefly what kind of a mess he'd been, to have stumbled out of the intensive care unit without noticing all them. But he cut his reverie short as Martha and Marie rushed toward him, tears springing form their eyes. Drake scooped up Marie with one hand, cradling her next to his chest, as Martha ran up to him, burying her tearful face in his chest as he wrapped his other arm around her, holding her near, as more tears fell.

The Pokemon watched silently for a moment, allowing the family a moment to express their profound sorrow to each other, beofe they joined the huddle. Gengar clung to Martha's legs, while Ditto climbed up to hold onto Marie. Venusaur extended his vines, lightly caressing and soothing them all. Electabuzz rested with one hand on Drake's shoulder, and his head buried in Onix's coils, who had loosely wrapped his body around the entire ensemble, hanging his head in sorrow and pain, as tears fell from all assembled.
