Lara and the Movies
Miss Lara Croft Lara Croft strolled easily down the middle of the Paramount Studios lot looking for the set 122. She had gone past 121 and found 123 but 122 seemed to have disappeared completely. More over, the only directions that she could find took her way out of her way. In fact, she predicted that the path pointed out to her would have placed her somewhere in Little Rock Arkansas.
So, she wandered around for sometime until she at last came to a rather large building that she had passed several times before. The only difference was that this time she happened to notice a small 122 etched into a nearby sign that was covered by a load of tall grass. It was kind of ironic, she thought. After all, she had found hidden temples in the depths of the Amazon and yet a large building on a movie lot in Los Angeles California almost eluded her.
Chuckling to herself about the whole thing, the young lady made her way to the entrance and attempted to enter. "Where do you think you're going?" came a voice from behind her.
Instinctively she turned around to see a young executive looking man standing behind her. "I was just going in here," she explained.
The man shook his head. "I'm sorry miss," he said, "but nobody is allowed in there. It's a closed set."
"Yes, well, I was invited to come to give advice on this film," retorted the lady.
"Are you on the list," replied the other.
Lara shook her head. "What list," she asked.
The executive boy reached into his pocket and produced a small piece of paper and a pencil. "This list," he explained.
"Oh, that list," laughed the explorer, "I'm sure I am. My name is-"
"IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS!" Interrupted the man raising an eyebrow, "You see there are no names on this list because this is a closed set."
Immediately Croft's eyes narrowed. "What is the name of this movie?" she asked sternly.
The executive looking man gulped hard. Somehow he could sense that this was not a woman to make angry with him. Still, he had a job to do and he was going to do it. "It's Tomb Raider 2: The Search for the Penguin Amulet."
"Very good," replied the lady, "Now, who is the main character in the movie?"
The list holder bit down on his lower lip, hoping to strengthen his resolve. "Lara Croft," he answered.
"Now then," the explorer continued, "Since I AM Lara Croft-"
"I DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE THE POPE," interrupted the other yet again, "NOBODY GETS IN HERE!"
"How would you like to explain to the Mr. West why I am not here?" Lara threatened, placing her hand on the gentleman's shoulder.
"How would you like me to break your hand off?" retorted the man.
Croft smiled. "Try it," she offered.
In the next second the executive looking man found himself upside down in large shrub bush next to the half covered sign. Smugly, Lara bent down so that she was eye to eye with him. "The Pope is a great man," she said, "but I am Lara Croft.
