A Safe Haven

Disclaimer: Osmosis Jones still belongs to Warner Bros., and I still don't intend to make a cent off it with my fics, so don't sue me.

As you read in the summary, this is a sequel to Worth the Wait. It takes place the same night. This one's a bit corny, but I just felt like writing something short 'n' sweet about this totally kawaii couple.

Ozzie's thoughts

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ozzie tossed and turned in his sleep, groaning softly. If anyone had seen the look on his face, that person would have known immediately that he was having a nightmare. "No...no..." With a gasp, he finally woke up in a cold sweat. Still breathing hard, he looked around the room. It was just a dream. He rested his elbows on his knees and buried his face in his hands with a heavy sigh.
It had been a whole year since Thrax's two-day siege against Frank. But even now, Ozzie was having trouble putting the events of those days out of his mind. He kept remembering the evil, crazed look in Thrax's eyes as they battled. He kept remembering how close he came to losing everybody about whom he cared. He dropped his head onto the pillow and stared at the ceiling. I almost lost everything that day. It all worked out, but you still don't just forget something like that.
As he rolled over to try to go back to sleep, his eyes fell upon Leah. He had rolled out of her arms during his nightmare, but she was still fast asleep. He looked at her, and slowly, a smile crept upon his face. How does she do it? All I gotta do is look at her, and anything that's botherin' me just disappears.
He recalled when Thrax had taken Leah hostage. Thrax wouldn't have hesitated to kill Leah if necessary. Ozzie shuddered to think what would have happened to his precious Leah if he and Drix hadn't reached her in time. But he didn't want to think about that right now. All about which he wanted to think was the vision of beauty sleeping peacefully beside him.
He moved closer to his love. He carefully took her arm and placed it around himself. As he settled into her embrace, all the upsetting memories of a year ago drifted out of his mind. It was funny how just by being near, she could effortlessly banish all worries and fears from his mind. He reflected on this as he languidly stroked her hand with his fingers. Before he had met her, he never had imagined that anybody could make him feel so cared for, so safe, so loved.
He thought about when Leah had unexpectedly kissed him during his reinstatement ceremony. It had been at that moment that he'd known—he'd felt—that she loved him just as much as he loved her. His arms had wrapped around her of their own accord and held her close to him. The rest of the world had seemed to melt away; he'd barely even noticed the cheering crowd.
He happily recalled all this as he lay in bed with her, her arm around him. He snuggled against her and kissed her hand. As he drifted peacefully back to sleep, he could swear he felt Leah's arm tighten around him.
