After slaving over the Pokemon once again all day, Tracey retired to the small room set up for him in the back of Professor Oak's lab. He whipped his forehead with his arm, and flopped back onto the bed. Many visions of that day's goings on flashed through his mind as he lay there on his bed with his eyes shut.
He reached blindly under his pillow and retrieved his newest sketchbook. He stared at it in anxiety. If it weren't dark out, if he weren't tired and if all the Pokemon weren't already asleep, he'd go make some sketches. Unfortunately, all of the above were very true.
__
Professor Oak sat in his small room, at the desk. He'd been looking over some records he'd made on a few Pokemon when his mind switched to another thought-Tracey. The poor boy was always helping him. Even though Tracey said that working with Professor Oak has been his dream, he was still worried. Tracey should be out having fun, like a child should be. Tracey acts grown up, but he was stressed.
Oak decided.. Maybe Tracey needed a break.
__
The next day, Professor Oak rose early to cook breakfast. After dressing himself, he sneaked past Tracey's room without waking him. Oak almost considered himself sly, but Tracey was asleep, and even walking past normally wouldn't have arisen any attention.
After breakfast was cooked, served and eaten by an almost weary Tracey, Oak called him into the back part of the lab.
"Tracey," Oak started, letting the boy settle on the couch before he continued. "I think maybe, its time for you to take a break." Tracey scratched his head, but before he could speak, Oak continued. "I want you to go to Viridian City, Tracey. Just for a week or so. Relax. Have a good time. Go into the forest and sketch some Pokemon. You need a rest."
Tracey blinked incomprehensibly. "But, Professor Oak, I.."
"Don't even think about trying to back yourself out. You're going on that vacation, and that's that!"
Tracey nodded silently and retreated to his room. 'Maybe a vacation wouldn't be a bad thing..' Tracey thought. 'But for some reason I feel that the only reason why he's making me go on this vacation is because I act so depressed.. Well, when I come back, I'm not going to be like that anymore!'
Oak knocked on Tracey's door and hour later. "Come on, Tracey. I'll see you to Viridian City. I have a hotel room set up for you there. I figured maybe you might like to go walk in the forest and sketch Pokémon or something,"
Tracey nodded, and finished packing up a small bag. 'I have a week to relax. But when I come back, I'm going to work ten times harder than ever!'

Thus marks the end of the prolouge, the background of our story. Go, Tracey! Chapter one should be up pretty soon.. If I get writing!
