Disclaimer: I do NOT own Gatts, Caska, or any other character in this story. They are property of someone else. Please, do not sue me. I have nothing and even this computer I'm typing on is borrowed. Again, feedback and constructive criticism are always appreciated. This takes place after the eclipse, and is sadly, only another peering into Gatt's thoughts and not an actual story. Don't worry I'm working on one! Now on with the freakin show.

A cool breeze drifted into the cave where Gatts and Caska had been staying. As darkness enveloped the world outside, the atmosphere inside was calm and peaceful.

Caska lay sleeping on a floor mat, making a gentle breathing sound. She too looked at peace. It was a deceptive scene. By looking at her now, one could not tell the pain that she had suffered or the trials she had endured. Certainly, one could not guess her dearest friend had betrayed her, nor that she had bore a child of the demons. And no one could assume it had driven her as crazy as the day is long.

But someone already knew, and he gazed upon her sleeping from with the eyes of a person who had himself seen too much. For he too was the victim of a former ally. But more than that, he remembered the person she was before that fateful day. She was a strong woman, both mentally and physically. She could hold her own against most male swordsmen. She had led the Hawks all by her lonesome when both he and Griffith were absent.

And he loved her.

And even though, in the time before, she was constantly complaining to or about him, not to mention the fact that she had a quick and fiery temper, he knew that once, she loved him too.

And it hurt.

It hurt to see that strong woman reduced to this. THIS. An animal that lapped soup from a bowl like a dog. That could barely even speak. And worst of all, who would hardly even stand the feel of his touch, when all he wanted to do was hold her and convince himself that all hope wasn't lost.

But he wouldn't give up. Deep in his heart, he knew he couldn't give up. Still watching her sleeping form, he vowed vengeance on her tormentors. "I love you, Caska," he breathed.

Yeah yeah I know it's short. That's all I have time for anymore. Tell me what you thought!
