Summary: This is one situation they never wanted to have to deal with.

All alone I didn't like the feeling

All alone I sat and cried

All alone I had to find some meaning

In the centre of the pain I felt inside

She sat on the edge of her bed with a lone photograph in her hands. As she stared at it, a single tear slid down her cheek. She didn't think she had any tears left; she'd been crying non-stop for the last few days. How many days had it been? She'd lost count. For all she knew, the world could have stopped. It had for her.

All alone I came into this world

All alone I will someday die

Solid stone is just sand and water, baby

Sand and water, and a million years gone by

Her sister sat silently on the window seat in her bedroom. She was clutching her favourite stuffed animal; it was the only thing that seemed certain in her life right now. The only thing she could understand. Although her eyes were dry, her crying was far from over.

I will see you in the light of a thousand suns

I will hear you in the sound of the waves

I will know you when I come, as we all will come

Through the doors beyond the grave

She rose from her bed and walked over to her dresser. She lifted an empty picture frame that was close to the wall. She once thought the frame too beautiful to put a picture in. No picture was as beautiful and deserving of the frame. But she had found one. She slowly placed the picture in the frame. At any other time she'd have passed over this picture; it wasn't anything extraordinary. But now it was. It was the last picture of the three of them together. It was a simple photograph, taken only to finish the roll. Looking at it brought back a wave of emotion; she could hardly bear it.

"You're safe now, nothing can hurt you ever again." She could feel the tears stinging her eyes. "I love you."

Piper touched the frame once more, and reached up to wipe her eyes. Casting one more sad glance at the picture, she left her room, slowly closing the door behind her.

All alone I heal this heart of sorrow

I can only live this day

Flesh and bone my life's bursting toward tomorrow

And the love you send my heart still finds it's way

Her sister gazed out upon the world. Nothing seemed to make sense anymore. She saw cars drive down the street, people walking along the sidewalk, mothers pushing strollers. How could those people be so happy? Why wasn't she allowed to be that happy? Why had her world been turned upside down? A thousand more questions filled her head. She needed to know that it would all work out in the end. She needed reassurance. But of the two people in her life who provided such reassurance, only one would be able to comfort her. The other was gone. Forever. It was something she couldn't fathom.

Her bedroom door opened, slowly and silently, but she heard it. She had been hoping, waiting for it. Waiting for one half of her reassurance. Waiting for her comfort, her support. She looked towards Piper, so innocent, so confused. Piper's heart broke once more when she saw her sister like this. She sat next to her sister and pulled her into a warm embrace.

"I love you." She said between tears. "I love you, Phoebe. And I promise, we'll get through this. I'm here for you. Forever."

Phoebe's lost tears had found their way back, and slid down her cheeks.

"I love you too, Piper." She managed. "Don't ever leave me."

Piper tightened her embrace.

"Never."
