Author's Notes: Desperate for some kind of inspiration (any kind of inspiration) on a Saturday night, I sat down and began to write the first thing that came into my head. What resulted was a wonderful tale about the wonderful Spike being just as bored as I was. The only difference between what he ended up with at the end of the day and what I ended up with is that he didn't have a crappy story to throw away (or put up here, either way).

Edit, 25/11/01: I'd like to appologise for all of the hideous spelling and grammar errors that I accidently left in when I posted this. They should be all fixed now, but if you spot any others please just say so in a review.

Spike sat in his dark and dirty, yet comfortable crypt and pondered about what he should do to entertain himself for the remainder of the day. He had already done everything that he had planned for ahead of schedule, and unfortunately several hours of daylight remained.

"What should I do?" Spike asked himself out loud, as he often did when bored and alone. "I wish I had a Gameboy or something. And a game to play on it, of course".

Spike wondered if he should ring someone on the phone, but he quickly realised that he didn't have any friends that had phones. Not working phones, anyway.

"I know!" Spike shouted suddenly, jumping to his feet in excitement. "I'll watch TV!"

Looking around his crypt for the television, Spike was very upset when he remembered that he'd punched in the television last week when he'd heard that one of his favourite shows had been cancelled.

"Dammit!" he cried. "Now how am I going to watch that Brady Bunch marathon? I was so looking forward to it!"

Spike again began to wonder how exactly he was going to entertain himself when he was struck by something. It was only after several seconds that he realised that it had been a very good idea.

"That's it!" yelled Spike. "And I really mean it this time."

Spike then proceded to perform the one-vampire version of The Sound of Music, beginning with that lovely scene with Maria singing in the hills (which are, incidentally, alive with the sound of music).

"The hills are alive, with the sound of music!" sang Spike spinning in circles, his arms outstretched. "With songs they have sung for a thousand years!"

Spike continued the musical, having the most trouble with the songs that require a two-part harmony, (like Eidelweiss).

As he reached the end of the magnificent story with a rousing rendition of Climb Every Mountain, Spike wept over how truly beautiful the story of the Von Trapp family is. Reaching the concluding notes he imagined that he was walking over the snow covered Swiss Alps, into Switzerland, because that's what happens at the end.

Finally finished, Spike collapsed onto a nearby chair. It really had been difficult performing The Sound of Music all by himself. Glancing outside Spike realised that the sun had already set, and that he could now go outside and play.

"Yay!" he said mischievously. "Now I can go outside and incite some mayhem".

And with that Spike ran outside, ready for some night time fun.

The End. Or is it? Yes, it is.
