One-Winged Angel

The image of a scarred face,
Of a scarred life, flashes
Through the crowd.
Like a firefly at flight
You glow amidst the crowd at the
Snap of a finger. Like an angel
With only one wing.
That is the way you limp through life.
You seem hurt and lonely,
The immobile frown,
Like that scar of yours,
Carved into such a beautiful face.
I glance back at myself
And see that I am missing a wing too.
...two angels with lost souls
Drift among so many other fulfilled ones.
Neither of us make a move to regain flight.
But you know I can change all this.
I gracefully walked up to you,
And offered what we could both have,
What we could both cherish,
If you wanted it. And with that
We took flight with two regained souls
And two regained wings. The light
Faded to let two blue fireflies pass. Dear angel,
Look up to the stars, and you will see
That one day, we shall fly again
To that place you promised me
There, we won't need these two regained wings, but
Hand in hand, we shall take flight again.
Two one-winged angels
Can form one two-winged one, you know.
Fly to the stars I point to this night.
I promise.
